It almost seems like the bottom half was reattached surgically and has a mind of its own. A mission to destroy the host it was attached to. Of course, it knows it will die if it succeeds, but then again, cats just aren't that smart.

this just reaffirms my belief that cat's tails are actually a separate entity that controls the bottom half of their body. i mean seriously havent you ever noticed how it moves even when their asleep?

Similar to this. It may be some kind of neurological disorder. I tried researching it but to no avail- it's not my area of expertise, but it would be interesting to know what causes it.

Edit: It would be similar to Alien Hand Syndrome in humans, but I'm not sure what would cause it in felines and canines.
