Sorry but no.

These are rotor clouds at the base of stacked blue lenticulars. Normally lenticular clouds (often called "cap clouds" because they frequently form "caps" at the top of mountains) appear as lens shaped clouds in "streets" (such as this image shows).

However, in this particular image, the air pressure at the top of each wave (stacked vertically on top of the rotor clouds shown) and the water vapour level means that no cloud is actually formed in the lenticular part of the system.

Because of the way lenticulars form, they usually create this rotor cloud below them. Only the rotors create low enough air pressure for the "dew point" to be reached. (This is governed by the "Lapse Rate" on any given day.)

The rotor cloud is often very violent and turbulent: no good for gliding at all, but the lenticular formations above them provide stunning amounts of lift, in extremely smooth conditions. Invisible wave rotor is responsible for more light plane crashes in NZ than Lee-side rotor - which can always be predicted!

The Upwind portion of a lentic' can often exceed 10 metres per second list, with a corresponding 10m/s of sink in the leeward part of the "wave".

(Lenticular clouds are usually referred to as "wave" in gliding circles, and are the very best possible conditions for gliding.)

The idea being, to get your craft into the upwind portion of the wave and climb out to the very top (flying blind, entirely by instruments - scary stuff - lemme tell ya!) and then turn downwind and push hard downwind, usually close to the VNE (Velocity Never Exceed) of the glider. You then run through the sink fast, and into the lift part of the next wave, when you turn into the wind, set the glider to "minimum sink" attitude, and cruise the wave back to the top.

Rinse and repeat.

Pilots in my neck of the woods have flown 2,200 kilometres in a "Flight to Goal" using wave, and have exceeded 220 kilometres an hour average speed for the entire flight.
