I realize im asking this question of a group of people who've barely mastered fucking let alone parenting, but how would you feel if this were your child?

I would be horrified. I would be horrified that someone had taken a picture of my son, and tried to stomp out the innocence you see by referring to him as an object, not as a person. Yup, this kid was born with DS. So, does that disqualify him from your need to regard him as a person, who has just as much right to be here as you? Is he disqualified? Are you alleviated from your responsibility to treat others with respect? Yes, you. What's your answer?

Oh, and by the way? This kid here? The one in the grass that will never know a world as full as yours? The one who will probably be snickered at until he dies or withdraws from society in a group home? He was also probably born with a hole in his heart, and had to undergo surgery as a baby. Yeah, that's fucking hilarious, isn't it, OP? In a few years, you may well have kids of your own. Let me know if any of them ever ends up on a ventilator with their eyes taped shut or something. I'll snap a picture and put a funny caption on it. Maybe "CANT SEE SHIT", or something. We'll all have loads of giggles together, right? Hey, what's good for the goose....

Maybe the reason this bothers me so much is because the child in this picture looks a lot like how my own 2 1/2 year old, blond-haired little guy would look if he had Down Syndrome. Thankfully, he doesn't. He's fine. And so is the kid in the picture. He's fine too, since his parents no doubt would love him and adore him just as much as I love and adore my own son. My son, and the child in this photo are equally innocent, and if anyone tried in any way to take, or diminish that innocence, i'd have your throat in my hands before you knew what hit you.
