    It's a truck, as long as the bed has a bottom and 2 sides of some height (doesn't necessarily need to be equal on both sides either) it'll still work.

    1. Trucks don't hold value. $100 off the $1000 that truck is worth isn't much.

    The car is obviously fucked up as well. Look at the front end, or the dent in the rear door from the tie-down.

    I can only imagine that alcohol and/or meth and/or sheer desperation was involved with this decision.

    It's interesting that the cop is one of those that pulls over big trucks. You can see he's got the pickup on scales, making sure it's not carrying too much weight--which makes me think that may be the only violation they care about. That's ridiculous. Everyone knows if you're carrying something that sticks out more than two foot behind your vehicle, you have to put a red/orange flag on it!

    If I've learned anything from Mythbusters, it's that most of the weight of a car is in the engine block (from the episode where they were sinking a car similar to the pictured one into a pool).

    Assuming 4x the weight in the engine block than the rear end (it is a solid block of metal after all), I'll buy it.

    The weight distribution is a little easier to see in this picture from the other thread linked to above.

    On a car like the taurus you'll have 65-75% of the weight on the front axle, and the heavy engine is likely even completely in front of the front axle, so having the ass end hanging off won't be a problem here. It just shows how poorly balanced most cars are. Sports/sporty cars on the other hand generally have closer to 50/50 weight distribution.

    In that one (and in the other one to a certain extent) you can see that there's a second strap going from somewhere under the bonnet of the car to around the back half of the truck cab (and presumably over or behind the seats).

    I would have used the strap they had to toe the car before I even fathomed that achievement. But anything more than maybe 15 ~20 miles and I would likely get the car trailer or rent a dolly, but yeah massive stupid.

    Its not a SHO. The SHO has the trim emblem under the left light painted to match the car. In the other picture you can clearly see its chrome. The stamp on the side is probably a 24V from the DOHC engine which unlike the v8 is pretty bullet proof. I have heard of welding the shaft to prevent the issue seems alot of work for minimal torque and hp gains over the 24v. If you are going to bother with an engine swap the 5.0 does not seem like it has a great advantage out of the gate but it has much more room for expandabiliy.

    tl;dr Its not a SHO and even if it was its a piece anyway.

    A hillside works better, if you've got a road cut into a hill, so there's a bit of an embankment on the side, back the pickup truck up to the embankment....if you get it right then you're just pushing on a level surface (bridge a little gap with planks of wood if you have to) instead of trying to push a heavy thing UP a ramp.

    However, this appears to be a forklift job. You can't drive in something wider than the bed, really, it'd never work. And driving it off a drop would bash in the truck far more than it is.

    They probably used a hydrolic car lifts--the ones they use at your local mechanic's auto shop to lift vehicles into the air. Reversed the truck in underneath the jack and as it made contact the the flatbed, they strapped it the fuck down.

    I'm an EMT in the Binghamton area (where this was taken), and I heard this get dispatched (some one reported it through 911) and heard the NYSP stop the vehicle. Rest assured, this was not fake. The sound of the officer's voice when he called on-scene was great. "The car...is in...the pickup truck."
