A place to share interesting photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but please read the rules first (see below), and note that we are not a catch-all for general images (of screenshots, comics, etc.)

Spoiler code

Please mark spoilers like this:

Hover over to read.

Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

i was on a first date a few years ago, trying my best to seem like a knowledgable, sophisticated gentleman. the topic of discussion: the odyssey. having never read it i pulled all knowledge i could remember from that wishbone episode to carry on the conversation. eventually the topic got to a silent moment, and feeling like a phony i felt i had to admit it to her. "you know," i said, "i'm pulling all of this information from an episode of wishbone."

"me too!", she said.

we've been together for a good three years now.

if we do, we're definitely getting a jack russel.

might name our first son "joe" as well.

EDIT: middle name "talbot"

[–]crackshot91 19 points20 points ago

TIL you need to be married to own a Jack Russel.

[–]Elshupacabra 20 points21 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

The custody laws involving Jack Russel's are much more strict than they are with children.

[–]sierrabravo1984 8 points9 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

But not as strict as with some Parrots; some have to be put in your Will since they live so goddamn long.

[–]chazferrari 1 point2 points ago

Did you ever play the Wishbone video game where you were Odysseus?

[–]chazferrari 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I was unfortunate enough to have not ever heard of its existence until just now!

[–]nibblr 1 point2 points ago

I just remember booting up my Windows 95 computer and popping that bad boy in. After that, it's all a blur of joy.

[–]WunderWoman 1 point2 points ago

Never played the game but I do still have the board game. Use to play it all the time! http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic67099_t.jpg

I'm tempted to call you a lesser-dicked Phaecian, but you seem to have found a nice lady and Wishbone never covered the epithets.

So hypocritical. The actor who played wishbone was completely illiterate. He was just in it for the bitches and beggin strips.

I just asked my boyfriend if he watched Wishbone. His response was "What?"

Looks like I'm going to have to find a new place to live.

That is just an awful thing to do. Very stupid. You could have introduced her to Wishbone yourself, and solidified your place in her heart forever.

Plus, I mean, everyone's always looking for a good excuse to watch Wishbone again. It doesn't get any better than that.

Never got into Wishbone for two reasons.

  • I'm a bit too old to have enjoyed this at the time of it's airing
  • I preferred rimshot

Agreed.

I can't count the number of times I've seen the Ernest movies.

Ernest goes to camp was one of the most sacred movies when I was a kid. Always got chills when he was being shot at the end and the bullets kept missing him.

I liked this show as a kid, but I remember it getting really weird at a certain point. Like instead of just having the book scenes they would try to have an entirely separate plot going on with the kids that was somewhat related.

My mom used to run a professional babysitting business and the kids would fill the house. As her business location was my home I had to learn to be around many small children for at least 2-3 hours a day after school and at the time of "Wishbone" I was 15-16. They'd all cry out for "Wishbone! Wishbone!" come 4 o'clock. I used to hate it but then gradually, I started sitting in the "front row" on the living room floor, watching with all the others. Soon I was the one yelling out for "Wishbone! Wishbone!"

Sir, that is not Levar Burton from reading rainbow, that is his great-great-great-great x 100 grandson Geordi Laforge.

[–]extemporaneous 4 points5 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

According to the relevant Wikipedia articles, Geordi La Forge was born 378 years (to the day) after LeVar Burton. Using 30 years as an average generation time, that's about 13 generations apart.

I think I just out-nerded myself.

I was just old enough to dodge this show when it came on. The dog had this horrible voice. Probably the worst voice I've ever heard. Show clip. The dog reenacted books/stories with a voice-over and live-action people.

I can't remember if it came on before or after Bill Nye. But I'd always have to watch about 2 minutes of it. And it would put me in the worst fucking mood.

YES! Wishbone is probably the reason I ever wanted a Jack Russel in the first place. Here's my Maax: http://i.imgur.com/NxVHm.jpg Side story: My gf (butt in pic lol) works at a fabric store. She met the lady who did costumes for "Wishbone". She told her that he was so smart (Soccer was his name) that whenever she came in to change his clothes, he would get into the "bow" position. This way, he was impossible to dress without being picked up.

I really hated wishbone i could never watch an episode because i really hated that they changed the story and characters so much.

as a small child i would yell at my mother if she ever replaced peoples names in books with family members or my name. i would even yell at her if she tried to make voices of the characters.

i realllly hated wishbone

But Wishbone didn't teach anyone to read! He made no one literate! He just acted as an advocate for the (mostly) Western canon of literature.

Does anyone know of a place online to watch the episodes of wishbone? I have only been able to find maybe 2 or 3 of them... :(

He told you stories. He didn't teach you how to read.

I used to watch this show all the time. It taught me about Don Quixote! I never understood why a dog wanted to fight windmills, but I loved it anyways.

I live not too far from where Wishbone was filmed. One of my friends in high school was the bully on the show, DaMont... He was a super nice guy IRL. I think his uncle created the show, so he was able to get a part. I used to mess with him and act like he was a superstar and ask for his autograph and make a big deal sometimes when I saw him in the halls...

If it wasn't for this little guy, I'm pretty sure I'd actually have had to read some of those famous books.

Such a great show. I wanted one of these dogs for years.

Then I didn't get one.

My ex-girlfriend was an extra on that show as a kid. Small world.

I was expecting a picture of the critter from South Park's "Hooked on Monkey Phonics".

I didn't blow up the photo and just went by the thumbnail. I came in here not recognizing Wishbone to throw in a Lewis Black joke because it seemed appropriate.

Behind me, I heard a young woman of 25 say, "If it weren’t for my horse, I wouldn’t have spent that year in college." Now, I'm gonna repeat that, because it bears repeating. "If it weren't for my horse..." as in, giddyup, giddyup, let's go — "I wouldn't have spent that year in college," which is a degree-granting institution. Don't think about that too long, or BLOOD will shoot out your NOSE!

But now it's really not...
