Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

Is this the same video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vh84g8rC2oA ? I cannot see your video because of I'm in a "wrong" country for "SME partner" and it's blocked for me.

Yep.. you probably couldn't watch it because it has a Christina Aguilera song in it.

Actually the one linked by WhiteAndRed is a bit longer, and has more scenes.

This happens in all sorts of animation. Different studios literally have formulas for how to do certain styles see video 10. In the very early days of animation, it was a revolution when the double bounce was invented.

The reason for this is because back then, and maybe even today, there were only a few genius animators who really knew what they were doing in terms of positioning and timing; and it was not efficient to get them to do everything. So you had other artists do the filling in, while the geniuses worked on development of new scenes, and sometimes you just need some fun dancing, why reinvent the wheel.

tldr; It's not because of laziness, it's due to limited genuine talent.

Disney is well known for this. I'm taking a film class on Disney (though it's intent is for women's studies) and in one of the books we are reading it talks about how difficult it was to properly mimic human movements in animation and that Walt actually brought someone in to teach all of his animators to draw in the style that he desired. He had full control over his films and actually did not start crediting all of the staff required to produce each film until much later. It's and interesting book and a very interesting class. The official title of the class is Disney: Gender, Race, Empire. While I do think some of the more extreme feminists OVER analyze the films, it is definitely interesting to see the depiction of gender and race throughout the years.

I haven't seen it myself, so maybe I'm full of shit. But I've heard that if you go to the Disney Family Museum, there is footage of Walt and his wife dancing and it looks to be the basis of some of these scenes.

I wouldn't doubt it to be honest. It hasn't been mentioned in the book but what was mentioned is that they brought in a lot of live models for characters and movements. Walt also brought in a lot of his personal opinions into his films, it was apparently well known that Walt was very traditional when it came to family and that his wife and daughters were expected to listen to him, the man was in charge at all times, etc

if you've been on pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland, at the part of the ride where some of the buildings look on fire, there seems to be a tipped over menorah in one of the windows. Whenever i see it i think of walt disney blaming the jews!

Due to the fact at that time Disney hand drew all there movies it wasn't uncommon to reuse stuff like that in order to save a bit of time and help the movie be ready for the release date.

Jesus, do we really have to have this discussion AGAIN? Studios everywhere, even big names like Disney, have recycled animation to save time and money. It's been going on since animation has existed.

Movies, animation or otherwise, recycle material all the time. Hell IG-88 from the empire strikes back was build from a coffee machine used in the cantina scene in a new hope.

yeah disney recycle alot of their animations.

they're not the only ones. Virtually everyone does. Fight scenes from Naruto are taken from Cowboy Bebop

Go check out anything made by Filmation. They were all about recycled footage to reduce costs.
