The first time I went hunting with my dad we were sitting in a blind and he saw a deer that he wanted to get. I don't hunt, I actually find hunting boring and silly, but I shoot guns and love them.

So, we're sitting there and a deer pops into view my dad wants to bag. He gets his rifle ready and puts his eye up directly next to the scope, since he is still pretty new to guns. I tell him he needs to move his head back from the scope, so he moves it back just a few inches. I tell him again he needs to move his head further back.

He hushes me down, says he knows what he's doing, he's older, etc, and goes back to aiming.

He missed the deer, but the scope didn't miss his face. He had a nice scope eye a week or two after.

Don't be dumb with guns y'all. There's more to being safe than being on the other side of the barrel. Plus rum can only make the pain you feel from the scope go away, the shit you get, especially when around hunters all day, will not.
