  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

                  I remember when The Turk first got screen time on Sarah Connor Chronicles and it was the same SATA enclosure I have. I also love how ridiculously fucking BRIGHT the 1 jiggowatt blue LED is on that thing and that they didn't tone it down for the show. I'm positive that thing has given my walls cancer.

It's the same posts different day on there and then pretty much everyone just agrees. Yet so many people in there act like they're changing the world by complaining on reddit.

                                    This made me remember why I joined reddit, for the EXACT same reason. I loved browsing, and all these political comments I didn't agree with kept coming up. At first I participated (even after I joined) but once I realized it was a bunch of close minded individuals, I was out, and refuse to look at it ever again. I thought I was a minority because all my submissions were automatically downvoted every time. Maybe I still am, but glad to hear others feel this way.

                                      The opinions, for me, were different than what are commonly held by my friends so I was intrigued. After about 2 months though, it starts to look like this: "I came up with a new word for republicans... let's call them regressives" or "Corporations are out to make money; they are not looking out for your best interest"

                                      Anyway, stuff like that is a bit easier to ignore at first, because there are interesting opinions on there. You just have to not get annoyed by the retarded front paged self posts that hit the top just because they require so little thinking or they are blatantly playing to reddit's prejudices. I often have trouble getting past that.

                                                  I have no idea why people bitch at it. If you're not an atheist it is clearly not for you. Sure they can be kind of aggressive, but I've really only seen one case that was so bad I had to call them out on it. Even then my post calling out how ridicules it was got jumped right to the top which lead to a nice polite discussion, so from that experience I have to say the community is pretty good from what I've seen.

                                                  Dude, I'm an atheist and that place is clearly not for me. I just don't identify enough with that... culture. My favourite part of being an atheist is not having to spend so much time thinking about or talking about my beliefs, idols, chosen anecdotes that reinforce my worldview, etc. If anything is obvious it's that there is a religious element to atheism as a human phenomenon (though not in definition, which I better mention for the vocal ones who just put their trigger finger on the reply button). Just because you don't personify your god doesn't mean you've let go of being a follower.

                                                  As an atheist, r/atheism annoys the crap out of me. It's basically a place for atheists to hang out and complain about religious people. Yeah, sometimes it's nice to see a post about how ridiculous religion is to validate my own beliefs, or lack thereof, but it's like that all the time. It gets boring and frustrating because it's like having a discussion with yourself.

                                                  I personally like the self-posts and stories that come out of it. I think it can help a lot of people. I also appreciate the occasional facebook thread or rage comic as long as it is in good taste (I automatically downvote anything that is insulting people rather than trying to be reasonable).

                                                  To me it is like anything else on Reddit, some of the posts are bad, but most of them are pretty good and interesting.

I genuinely interested in learning what the conservative movement was really about and in having some rational discussions about libertarianism with some other serious minded people but they were just as bad as (if not worse than) /r/politics except the circle jerk went in the other direction.

There's a fairly big difference of philosophy between "I don't subscribe to a religion, but I don't see anything wrong with people that do" and /r/atheism's philosophy of "Religious people and their fairytale-based worldview are the cause of most of the worlds problems and must be stopped".

                                                                          By the way, "anti-theist" doesn't piss people off. It's a label many people adopt. If you called me an anti-theist I would say "Yes...I am." Because I'm against theistic religion.

                                                                          Saying that "evangelical atheism" is a religion exists only to try to show passionate atheists that they are just as bad as religion. But that doesn't make it a religion...it means people are passionate about their view that religion is a bad thing.

                                                                          And what is so wrong with thinking religion is a bad thing? For that matter, what is wrong with thinking that religion holds people back? I'm not going to say it's responsible for most of the world's problems, but certainly you'd agree that it's resposible for some of them. Kids are being taught abstinence only education all over the US. That is the fault of the stranglehold Christianity has over the US government. Certainly you'd agree with that.

                                                                          It's a difference of opinion. You're free to think that many atheists are overly passionate and douchey. That's your perogative. But to suggest to its a religion in itself is engaging in, well, propaganda? It's not a religion, it's (referring to anti-theism) simply a belief. No need to try twist logic around to make them look like hypocrites because there's absolutey nothing hypocritical about being passionate about the belief that religion is bad.
