Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

I saw Superman II the other night, and he definitely threw some type of emblem-wrap at General Zod that fucked his whole shit up (at least temporarily).

Theory: disproven.

I don't get it, why printed on a board?

Don't you get it? OP hates paper

Yeah, right. But when it comes to asswiping, paper is your best friend

That plaque needs to be permanently mounted on the biggest boulder you can find in a public place.

I read somewhere about this. Apparently there's an old Chinese tradition where the ruler would be requested to admit defeat. If he doesn't accept, he puts a rock on top of the request paper, but if he surrenders, he puts the paper over the rock.

A Libyan rebel threw a rock at the oppressive regime.

But the UN signed a piece of paper, and a hundred cruise missiles rained down on the regime.

Who ever wrote this board is not taking many factors into consideration, lets hypotheses:

First let's set the usual rules of the game: two players stand regularly about a meter (ish) in front of each other with their arms not fully extended waiving their fist from the elbow approximately six times until they present their chosen result. The winner is decided because in theory, the physical properties of on the results will either immobilize or destroy the other.

For argument sake, let's say both players have personal space/physical contact issues and leave 20 - 30cm between their hands and selected outcome. Force and acceleration must then be limited to this distance and the size of the objects (whether with physical or metaphorical objects) those of a clenched fist and an forward facing open palm.

We have now enough points of reference to begin applying physics (and a bit of anatomy) to defend papers potential to indeed beat/absorb the impact of rock.

Physical:

Both players are each holding a physical rock (either a smooth pebble like rock or one with sharp edges) and a piece of (A4 sheet) 20-30cm apart. If the player with the rock has only said distance (maintaining it's current anatomical posture) to give force/acceleration to his object and paper by being passive the same distance to absorb the impact (with an forward facing palm), it is rather unlikely (unless the rock has pronounced sharp edges) to rip through the piece of paper and therefor destroy it's original physical properties. Sure, paper may crumble but it would have done its job of immobilizing the rock and can always be straightened out again. It would really come down to where the applied pressure points and density (to and of) the paper are/is. In the given example, paper wins (likely).

Metaphorical:

If both players have same strengths and build (applying the same rules), unless the rock player has mastered Bruce Lees two finger punch building ridiculous acceleration rates over relatively short distances, rock is clearly the looser.

Wasn't this fun?

The jokes on that guy when the other person catches his punch with his already open-palmed hand.
