My friends and I sneaked into the national park forest around these lakes and camped overnight. A bear came and ate all our food. We hid inside our tents, and were about to drink our own piss when someone accidentally pressed play on their ipod speakers. We'd been listening to the Princess Mononoke soundtrack (appropriate surroundings) and when it started soaring out of the speakers the bear was soothed and strolled off.

pa ne mora biti. od 7 top noćenja u hrvatskoj 6 je u istri i tu je dubrovnik. s tim da u istri nije tako bezobrazno skupo. poanta je zadovoljiti sve goste, od siromašnog čeha do ruskog oligarha. ako onaj kompleks na brijunima uspije (pod tim mislim da vlada ne proda cijele brijune trumpu, čega se bojim) sigurno će se popraviti i turizam. mislim da je naš najveći problem mentalitet. hrvatska je puna debila koji tuku i pljačkaju turiste, kojim očito nije jasno da se od turizma najviše zarađuje. također seru po turistima kao što su česi, koji nose svoju hranu i piće. i mi smo isti! znam puno ljudi koji kad idu na skijanje nose svoju hranu jer im je skupo. ako čeh nema para za potrošiti, a hoće odvest obitelj na more, zašto to ima kome smetatIi?

istina. ali ima sve vise srba, pogotovo u istri di im nitko nece nista. nedo bog da odu u zadar, npr. :D

sjecam se kao klinac, u 7. mjesecu sve je bilo krcato ceha, slovaka i poljaka, cak sam dosta dobro i pricao ceski u to vrijeme, u 8. mjesecu pocinje feragosto i dolaze sugavi talijani koji misle da je istra njihova, a njemaca ima tokom cijelog ljeta. oni su mi mozda i najdrazi gosti (radio sam u ugostiteljstvu tako da sortiram po pristojnosti i napojnicama :D)

I spoke to my cousin, who is Croatian living in Slovenia, few weeks ago and he said that all the government investments go into large cities such as Zagreb. It's a shame because the coastal region of Croatia is really beautiful.

i think once upon a time it was allowed. i know when i went this past summer it was not allowed. i do not know how long ago they banned swimming, for some reason i dont think it was too many years back. there is something special about the water which i forget already what it is, but they are trying to preserve it as it is.

If I was a drop of water going down that waterfall, I'd hope that I quickly evaporate, float into the mountains, condense, fall to the ground, then flow into this river so that I could go down the waterfall using a different route. Then I'd make a graph showing which part I liked better.

If your passing near Split try visiting canyon of river Cetina, its not nearly impressive as Plitvice but you can go anywhere you want because it's not a national park.

Wanting a high-res version of this, I decided to use Tineye for the first time ever.

We spent a day there when I worked in Croatia, it was fantastic. There's also an amazing bear orphanage that not many people hear about in the rural town of Kuterevo.

I volunteered there for a while. The mountains around it are beautiful and you can get very close to the animals. Not quite as wonderful as Plitvice lakes, but still definitely a great experience.

I was born and lived in Plitvice until 1991, Mukinje to be exact. It's as local as it gets. Last time I visited was few years back, but I did take some pictures. Not the greatest, but better than nothing. http://imgur.com/a/bzPnG#d7Ntp Best national park southeast Europe has to offer.

I'm from Bosnia, and I can attest to the Yugoslav region having some of the most beautiful landmarks (both man-made and natural) you'll ever see. Vrelo Bosne (Spring of Bosna) is a beautiful spring that is so clean you can actually drink from it - and the water is slightly carbonated as the source is only a few kilometers away. Discovering that place when I was young blew my mind - away from all the skyscrapers and cityscapes is a true fairy-tale wonderland.

Fuck, I went there a few years ago. Beautiful place- unfortunately at the time there were rumors of unexploded landmines in the woods, so you weren't supposed to stray off the paths.

I think you are wrong. Since Irfan is from Jajce (Bosnia and Herzegovina) I believe he would put his hometown waterfall in his app. It looked even better hundred years ago.

Hey, I had a question and believe that you are good person to ask! I visited Split last summer and fell in love. Me and my girlfriend would love to go visit or work in Croatia for about a year, what would you recommend we look into? Would english be enough to get by day to day? We only need a job to keep us sustained, I know the cost of living is different than from Canada...I'm willing to do any kind of labor, etc...

I live in a mile's range of Split. Pretty much many people work in tourism and professions such as selling stuff etc., or making cement, iron and similar. However, recently there was a boom in IT specialists in here, so that's your best bet for having a job. Croatia craves for computers sciences. Being foreign might certainly be a plus.

The average rent price for a two-bed place is cca. 250-400€ a month, which is somewhere in the 300 - 500$ range. It might sound a bit expensive, but it's the price for the strict center area of Split, the further you go from the center, the lower the price.

English is generally understood and spoken here. People learn it in their elementary school (and usually in high school too), and it's the most common language to get understood. It will certainly get you through day-by-day, but Croatian isn't that hard to learn (as long as we keep it to the daily phrases).

People are nice (most of them), and hostile, so they'll help you settle down. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask :)
