Hi! white South African here, Both the Dutch and English have lived and fought each other in South Africa (The Boer War). Indeed, back in the day it was very controversial for a Dutch and English person to get married. Take my family for example, my grandfather on my mother's side was English and fought in WWII, whereas my grandfather on my father's side hated the British and refused to fight with them. I was born in Cape Town but moved away when i was young.
