As a kid I would fish for trout with the fish tails of 'chub fish.' We would catch chub fish, cut their tails off and then bait our hooks with aforementioned tails. This always worked remarkably well.

One time we came home to show the parents the trout catch that we had landed. While showing them the catch our cat Fluffy took an intense interest in the fish tails we had attached to our barbed fishing hooks. At some point Fluffy decided she would like some fish. What fluffy hadn't anticipated was that that fish tail was attached to a barbed hook.

Fluffy surprisingly took off running after he had discovered the tasty fish tail was attached to a hook and that said hook was now in his tongue.

I was about 12 at the time but I remember reeling in my beloved cat Fluffy and trying to comfort it as my old man tried to remove the hook from it's tongue.

In the end the cat shredded the hell out of my hands and wrists and ended up with a forked tongue.

Turns out that this was not the worst pain that Fluffy would incur as he was later run through the haybine and pretty much skinned alive. Sill one of those memories that will haunt me to my death. Seeing Fluffy meowing in the front yard as we came home from a restaurant. All muscle exposed except for it's face welcoming us home.

The kids were asked to go into the house which was followed shortly by a shotgun blast.

RIP Fluffy.
