Except factory farms don't "take" mama anywhere. Pigs are born, raised and die on huge conveyor belt farms. More likely, the piglet in question would have been taken from it's mother prematurely after 6 weeks and thrown into a holding pen with other prematurely weened piglets where they will have their front teeth trimmed, neutered, and tails docked all without painkillers. Mama would not be taken anywhere. She would be forcibly impregnated again and again in the same airline seat-sized cage her entire life until her body gives out at which point she would be (hopefully) killed instantly by a bolt to the brain, assuming she does not make any sudden movements and the bolt gun operator aims properly. Otherwise, she will die slowly and painfully to blunt force trauma to the brain. I love bacon but will not support this cycle.

PETA can't advertise in this manner because their guidelines are you can't use animals even in movies or commercials because it's humiliating. They would probably hate reddit with all the karma whoring using animals..

That image implies that the pig was raised and lived its life in a field before taken away to be slaughtered (which, really, there is no problem with).

In reality, the pig you're eating most likely lived its entire life in a cell so small it could never even turn around to face in the other direction. PETA would be better off showing a picture of those conditions than a cute baby animal.

we have laws that outlaw the abuse of animals. Can't have 90% of medical research or and abundant source of food without using animals. PETA condemns the keeping of animals as pets (which some people love as much as they love people) because "humans shouldn't enslave animals". They also monetarily support terrorist organizations like the ALF which sets fire to research labs that use animals for testing.

This entirely misses the point of PETA. They're for the ethical treatment of animals, not the ethical treatment of cute and fuzzy animals (that's PETCAFA). The PETA line, as I understand it, is that we shouldn't be fishing, and I suspect they'd be against people eating grasshoppers, beetles, and grubs.

This pig's mother did not get hauled off for meat processing. You wouldn't take a breeding animal until after its last litter is weened.
If we didn't keep pigs for meat, probably 90% of the pigs currently in the world would never have been born at all. I'm pulling that statistic out of my ass, but go ahead and prove me wrong. There are states in the US with more pigs than people, including North Carolina.

Last night I dreamt that instead of getting a kitten, I got a piglet for a pet, and he was AWESOME! We were best buddies and did everything. He loved to get his belly rubbed and play fetch, rode a skateboard, and was toilet trained.

I know everyone on Reddit loves bacon, but the only thing Peta needs to do is point to the fact that nearly all animals, but especially pigs, cows, and chickens, have the same exact nerves as humans (nociceptors).

Did anyone watch Frontier House on PBS? At the end of the series, the wife compels the husband to kill the family pig in order to "win", even though the kids had come to look upon the pig as a beloved pet. The husband ended up doing it after incessant nagging from the wife, but it resulted in him viewing her with some amount of scorn at how heartless she was.

Edit: I guess I'm kind of hypocritical on this since I'm not a vegetarian (eat fish, though I'm not big on beef, pork, and poultry); I just have a hard time killing a mammal I've come to know. Left to my own devices, I'd probably resort to eating only vegetation and fish to survive, unless I had the means to kill a mammal from afar. I probably wouldn't survive long in the wild, being the softy that I am.
