100lbs in 6 months? Cannot possibly be done without a serious steroid cycle

Did you see him in The Machinist? He had like 0 fat. When you start gaining both fat and muscle at the same time, it's a lot more reasonable. He didn't just gain 100lbs of pure muscle.

In batman he was probably at 10%. He'd still need to put like 2-3 lbs of muscle on a week to get there. It just isn't happening without juice.

Yeah, I wouldn't really be surprised.

My recollection is that he was accused of using steroids. No one puts on 100 pounds in six months naturally. No one. And he never denied using steroids at that time either. He would only say that he would never put weight on that way again. Tacit acknowledgment, I say.

he was accused of using steroids

You used the word accused like there would be something wrong with using steroids. Acting isn't an Olympic sport. It's not cheating if he uses steroids to gain weight for a role.

"Am I going to walk around and rip your fucking lights down, in the middle of a scene? Then why the fuck are you walking right through? Ah da da dah, like this in the background. What the fuck is it with you? What don’t you fucking understand?" ...thats all i think about when i see him now.

Are there any long-term health issues related to this type of fluctuation in weight?

It's worse for your heart than just being overweight (at least if it's fat, lose weight, get fat again, etc.)

I thought he dropped weight because he was too big for the costume.

According to the captions, he went from 121lbs to 190lbs between the machinist and batman begins, a change of 69 lbs. The 'fine print' says he gained "more than 100lbs" -- YER DOIN IT RONG

Read the fine print again - gained more than 100, then dropped 40 due to health concerns, leaving him at a net gain of 69 lbs.

100 - 40 = 60, not 69. That number's 90% closer to 70, so the change should've been rounded to 30. YR STILL DOIN IT RONG

121 + 100 = 221.

221 - 40 = 181 ~= 190. Face it the math sucks ass totally.

Also, the english sucks ass. By placing the phrase "between filming the machinist and batman begins" before "before dropping 40 pounds," it actually says he dropped 40 after the filming of batman begins.

Here is the interview where he goes over it. He was 121 pounds in the machinist, went up to 220 pounds for batman, (~100 lbs) then lost 30 pounds because he was deemed too big.

109 fits under "more than 100". 109-40=69. The numbers are consistent as described. They turn out to be inaccurate because he didn't actually gain over 100 before the drop, based on the interview that draith linked, but they are at least internally consistent, so it's entirely possible that the error was in knowing the middle weight, not in math. Either way, the error isn't nearly as extreme as your original claim made it out to be.

It says he gained weight between the two movies, and dropped weight after gaining weight; that doesn't provide any information as to when the dropping happened relative to the films, although I agree that the ambiguity in the way it's phrased is potentially misleading and a bad choice of words.

In short, the English is technically accurate, though potentially misleading, and the math error might be a relatively small factual error or a relatively small math error, not a whopping huge mistake. But if it makes you feel better, you're right - the guy who made it is an idiot, so am I, and you really are the smartest person on the internet.
