I know what you mean. A couple months ago I got attacked by a guy because I used "American" when referring to "people from USA."

Basically he started whining that Brazilians, Canadians and Mexicans are Americans, and that calling "people from USA" (there is no better way to say that other than Americans that I can think of) is WRONG.

He wasn't even a troll, that was the bad part. He was some linguistics student trying to ride around on a high horse.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean Kueeny. People really think they own reddit and any post besides their own is some sort of threat to them. I will say this place is a bit more friendlier than say Digg though. People need to just chill the fuck out. I dont mind smartass remarks or GOOD insults but it seems a lot of people talk shit just for the sport of talking shit and they really suck at it. Its less clever and more just irritating and sad.

Yeah I've kind of come to the conclusion that sometimes I post things that I think are good comment wise, and they get no attention. If I ask real questions about a topic to find out where people are coming from, I get downvotes. The only way I can accurately predict what will come from my comments is to actively troll. At least then, I know I'll get downvoted and there won't be a surprise.

Ugh, this adds nothing to reddit, why is this on the front page? People have different opinions; this site which is largely an American/Atheist/Democrat/grammar-Nazi/weed-smoking/students site tends to have a lot of people following similar views. Get over it.
