I've played that game. It's really weird, as well as giving some sort of insight into how our brains process teh Funny.

So, you get this bit of ASCII art and stare at it for several seconds. Then try looking away, just let your eyes drift off, looking intently at anything else in the room. It's very important to put some real effort into 'not' looking at it. Most people will only last a few seconds before they crack up in uncontrollable fits of giggles.

You can't always cancel double-negatives like that. For an example, take the similar and more understandable sentence:

I can't look at this ASCII art and not smile.

With your reduction, it would be:

I can look at this ASCII art and smile.

These two sentences have different meaning. The first one asserts that if I look at this ASCII art, I must smile, because I can't not smile. The second one asserts that if I look at this ASCII art, I can smile, but not that I must.

That's not how I reduced it. I cancelled the pairs not/not and not/un on either side of the "and".

Still, I am aware you can't always cancel such negatives. I chose the way I did for humor's sake and nothing more. It's a play on the inherent ambiguity in English arising from the (mis)use of negations, punctuation, and the relatively lax rules regarding associativity of words. It was not an attempt to make the actual meaning of his statement any clearer.

Even my "correction" can be interpreted a couple ways, though that was intentional. Using parentheses for grouping, the most natural of these are

  1. I can (look at this ASCII art and giggle controllably).
  2. I can (look at this ASCII art) and (giggle controllably).

The first is a claim implying other people giggle uncontrollably while viewing the same art. The second is a claim of two skills: the ability to look at that particular art, and the ability to giggle controllably. I choose to interpret the statement as the latter because it's more amusing to me.

Polar bears are hilarious. The last time I was at the zoo, there was a large crowd around the polar bear pen, and I had to cram through them to see what was so interesting. The bear wasn't quite full grown, and it kept climbing up onto this little rocky ledge, and then diving off it and belly flopping into the water. Just over and over again, flopping into the water and then climbing out and doing it again. Then it climbed up onto the ledge, scooted back and took a huge liquidy shit into the water. Then everyone kind of left.

Stop being a douche, just enjoy it for what it is, a picture of a polar bear playing with a tube. And the reason I find it funny is because I can imagine the polar bears inner voice saying the words (jd style) As for your sock bench...I'd downvote it's ass.
