There is actually a very vibrant Thrash Metal revival occurring this moment, perpetuated by a young new breed of spirited metallers. Speed Metal itself, however, and being particular, was quite a limited genre that burned through it's heyday in the span of only a few years. A comeback of Speed Metal would be initially gratifying, but would inevitably grow stale and wear out it's welcome promptly, this owing to the qualities inherent to a genre that is self-limiting.

They don't call it SPEED metal for nothing! Huh? Am I right!? ... I'll just be over here...

This is more or less how I feel about modern thrash.

I feel this way about every possible music genre.

I've been hearing the same songs over and over for twenty years. Even Jazz. They don't know what the fuck to do anymore.

I think we pretty much maxed out. The only way to be original at this point is to make something that makes no sense at all.

It's a little like trying to say something that's never been said before. Only probable possibilities are things that make no sense "I have the hunger of a catalog eating cats in the room, dishwasher."

Punk music has been playing the exact same fucking song over and over but with slightly different lyrics for thirty years.

"Alternative music" has been the same damn song for at least twenty years.

I think that maybe you've been listening to the wrong songs.

Same here. There isn't really much that can be done that wasn't done in the 80s. Lamb of god are a pantera rip off, Evile are a rip off of slayer, municipal waste are your generic crossover band and violator are just a very boring megadeth wannabe group. Don't even get me started on trivium.

Where the fuck are the new generation of bands who branch out and try to create something new? Where are the Voivod's of this generation??

It needs a little OOMPH.

I think his rage is directly correlated to how long long ago the original was posted.

Reddit abandoned him, when he came to bring the truth, no matter how ugly, he was shunned. We have no one to blame but ourselves...

I met a butterfly the other day. I was just hanging out in the backyard, about to mow the lawn, when a monarch butterfly flew and landed on my finger. I asked him what he wanted, and he said: "I'mma need about tree fiddy". Now it was about that time I noticed this butterfly was 80 stories tall and looked like a creature from the black lagoon: it was dat damn loch ness monsta!!

I'd completely forgotten about this. Thank you for sharing it with me again. It made my day a little brighter.

Agreed. I love how this shows up every so often. It makes me realize that 80's speed metal will never die.

I had a similar thing happen to me, but he told me

"When foul ball flies over the third base line, it's the short stop's play"

Downvoted for this being the 3rd time I've seen this comic on Reddit within the last week or so. I'm all for repetition in terms of reminding us all of a great comic, but don't shove it down my throat please.

I am actually attracted to modern metal more than "Old School" stuff. Mainly 00's stuff and beyond, there are and were awesome bands in prog metal such as Lykathea Aflame, Kalisia, Devin Townsend, Cynic and others.
