These look like those Norwegian maple leaves that got Bank of Canada in trouble. *Edit - Thanks for catching that typo.

[–]adaminc 5 points6 points ago

You mean the bank of Canada and the new currency?

[–]Wistfuljali 4 points5 points ago

Ah yes. That's what I meant; I have no idea why I said Canada Post. Guess I was thinking about mailing something.

[–]ThatDoucheInTheQuad 3 points4 points ago

That's a Red Maple leaf...?

[–]Velyna 1 point2 points ago

Yes...They come in many colours.

[–]ThatDoucheInTheQuad 0 points1 point ago

Norway Maples have deeper grooves and are less serrated, look to my comment below

[–]Velyna 1 point2 points ago

I missed that, but I have seen maple leafs here that were that red, although they also seemed larger then the one in the picture.

[–]jamessnow 0 points1 point ago

In the fall the maples turn red.

[–]ThatDoucheInTheQuad 2 points3 points ago

Has nothing to do with the color, Red Maple is a species Aceraceae Acer Rubrum and it looks like this. http://i.imgur.com/GLQK2fI.jpg I know this because I just finished, and passed, my dendrology lab (tree identification) and the red maple was the very first tree out of over 300 species we had to be able to identify by leaf, bark, bud, smell, and taste

[–]jamessnow 1 point2 points ago

So, you are saying it's not a Norwegian maple?

[–]ThatDoucheInTheQuad 2 points3 points ago

Correct, it's a red maple, but on the real flag the correct leaf is a sugar maple

[–]Lucky75 61 points62 points ago

An unusual take...so unusual that it was posted like a month ago.

Edit: Okay, 3 months ago, and also in /r/pics

the post from today is by an account that only posts reposts.

He's also a mod from /r/reactiongifs which explains most of his behaviour.

[–]dsac 0 points1 point ago

no, this OP ("accidental" reposter) is the mod - the other post from yesterday (in my link) was from a reposting account.

[–]empathyx 0 points1 point ago

yup. reposted a repost from r/pics that someone posted to r/canada before which was a crosspost from r/pics...so meta.

[–]Tortfeasor55 4 points5 points ago

But I haven't seen it before and I think it's fantastic!

[–]CanadianHippy 4 points5 points ago

that bastard! posting someone else's pics!

[–]HandicapperGeneral[S] 7 points8 points ago

Sorry.

[–]univerio 8 points9 points ago

Those logs look like mini-wheats.

[–]Mutekid 0 points1 point ago

Agreed. I had no idea i was looking at a flag, but more like the mother of all mini-wheat abominations

[–]ionsquare 0 points1 point ago

That was my initial reaction as well. Now I'm hungry.

[–]mfwyourface 1 point2 points ago

Those darn Canadians and their Birch trees!

[–]newroot 7 points8 points ago

This'll make a nice wallpaper for the week, thanks!

[–]stevo292 0 points1 point ago

totally! :)

[–]KingToasty 12 points13 points ago

This is so Canadian, I barfed maple syrup and beards.

[–]ProfessorMcHugeBalls 5 points6 points ago

We're claiming beards? I think the Turks or Chinese have already called that one.

[–]rasputine 6 points7 points ago

The turks and chinese have different beards than we do. We have the lumberjack beard.

[–]SlaughterMeister 3 points4 points ago

It only counts as a Canadian beard if it's covering a cleft chin and is accompanied by a red jack-shirt.

[–]Amsterdom 1 point2 points ago

yeah we can't claim stuff like that... syrup however, that's our shit

[–]KaiserMessa 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, nobody else has maple trees!

[–]Mutekid 3 points4 points ago

All I see are Mini-Wheats

[–]Amsterdom 3 points4 points ago

I like this a lot, as I'm from Ottawa and our whole city was founded primarily because of the tons of birch trees in the area (then it became a fort)

[–]TJOSHIE 4 points5 points ago

American here... This is very cool and clearly represents Canada's natural beauty. Carry on..

[–]timbreandsteel 2 points3 points ago

Doesn't look so unusual to me, three vertical columns red-white-red with a red maple leaf on the white column. That said, I still like it :)

[–]retrojacket 2 points3 points ago

But thats a Norwegian maple leaf..

[–]ionsquare 1 point2 points ago

Very nice, great resolution!

xposted to /r/wallpapers

[–]lamamafia 0 points1 point ago

Anyone got a higher res version of it? When stretched it's blurry.

[–]ThePlanner 1 point2 points ago

And wallpaper. Thanks!

[–]Dr_Monsieur 0 points1 point ago

An unsusual use of the invasive Norwegian Maple. Just like on our 20$ plastic bills.

[–]CommandZ 0 points1 point ago

it looks like a sad birch bark face is crying a maple leaf tear...

[–]CommandZ 0 points1 point ago

probably because Lupul fractured his arm..

[–]mogaly 0 points1 point ago

How is this unusual. I wouldn't even be surprised if this was the original interpretation.

[–]keineliebe 0 points1 point ago

That's awesome.

[–]Chocobean -1 points0 points ago

CLOWN!!!! D: !!!!!!!

[–]RedD3vil 0 points1 point ago

If I see this reposted one more time I quit.

[–]cdegon 0 points1 point ago

That is fuck'n deadly!

[–]NUA-667 -1 points0 points ago

Nice subtle 'L' hidden in there. Liberal propaganda.

[–]canonymous 4 points5 points ago

There's a giant 'C' as well. Also if you look carefully, the pebbles spell out "vive le Quebec libre".

[–]NUA-667 0 points1 point ago

sacre bleu!

[–]sustaindyl 1 point2 points ago

Great....great.

[–]TheWetWestCoast -1 points0 points ago

I approve.

[–]calufrax85 0 points1 point ago

Quite woody

[–]clutche -2 points-1 points ago

How un-Canadian (the repost I mean).

[–]TheHolidayArmadillo -1 points0 points ago

Beautiful.

[–]BlackJackBob -2 points-1 points ago

it'd be really cool if the middle leaf wasn't filled red using MS Paint... nice try though
