Jesus, Sir Anthony Hopkins still looks as creepy as ever behind that glass.

[–]msmouse05 110 points111 points ago

Out of all these, kind of weird that Tom Cruise is posing for Minority Report. I liked the movie, but you'd think something like Top Gun might be a bit more well known.

[–]JavaLSU 53 points54 points ago

I can tell the OP tried his best to work the title to avoid this comment (By saying one of their best known and not their best known). So I'm not going to give him any grief over it.

[–]Shuntbox 9 points10 points ago

Indeed! Also, it may have been a little difficult to get a fighter jet in the photo shoot.

[–]Mimsy_borogoves[!] 13 points14 points ago

A t-rex wasn't so hard.

[–]bwmcmaste 3 points4 points ago

I think we all know exactly what you mean.

[–]Mimsy_borogoves[!] 5 points6 points ago

You have just sorted me out. Cheers bro :)

ps this reply was so much hassle.

[–]Beevo 1 point2 points ago

They could have used the homoerotic volleyball scene.

[–]Shuntbox 0 points1 point ago

[–]dudemeister5000 13 points14 points ago

I actually thought that was supposed to be Mission Impossible, cause that is his widest known movie (series).

[–]ramp_tram 3 points4 points ago

Morgan Freeman and Clint Eastwood?

Why is Clint holding a shotgun and not a .357? Why is Morgan Freeman there with him?

[–]sonofa2 3 points4 points ago

Unforgiven. Watch this movie if you haven't. One of the best Westerns of all time.

[–]FinestManInTheLand 2 points3 points ago

[–]TheRealAlexPKeaton 1 point2 points ago

Unforgiven.

[–]woodman_mo 0 points1 point ago

Unforgiven

[–]Doublestack2376 0 points1 point ago

It was for Unforgiven

[–]tenshi08 0 points1 point ago

Its from the movie "Unforgiven".

[–]cga94 0 points1 point ago

oh damn, idk that they were in a movie together. I thought it was a joke, like Morgan Freeman was narrating Clint Eastwood's movie.

[–]bwmcmaste 1 point2 points ago

Wow, you got an Unforgiven hat trick in the replies.

[–]gyrorobo -1 points0 points ago

It's from a different movie, others have pointed out.

But regardless, wouldn't it be more appropriate if Clint was holding an S&W model 29? I don't think anything else would really get the point across... And also if he was just holding a .357 that would look silly. A .357 is just a revolver cartridge, not a gun in specific.

[–]pilotlicense 0 points1 point ago

Unforgiven. I'll be the 246th person to say it.

[–]Jaexyn 0 points1 point ago

Risky Business maybe? Def not Minority Report though.

[–]kenny_knp 0 points1 point ago

Actors in one of their best-known roles

one of their best-known roles

[–]msmouse05 0 points1 point ago

Ya, that's true. For all we know he really liked that movie and he chose it for the one he wanted to pose for.

[–]kenny_knp 1 point2 points ago

From the comments round here it seems as though every choice had to be the statistically literal most known role of each actor.

[–]msmouse05 0 points1 point ago

Is there really any other way?

[–]badphish94 0 points1 point ago

Or at least Mission Impossible.

[–]BrodyApproves 0 points1 point ago

Or him & Hoffman in their Vegas suits.

[–]corso 51 points52 points ago

I was happy it was American Psycho for Christian Bale.

[–]abenfVA 3 points4 points ago

also the picture with the best prop use, IMO

[–]MyFeebleMind 1 point2 points ago

Me too, but I'm surprised it's considered his most well-known role.

[–]Endyo 17 points18 points ago

One of their best known roles.

[–]PHLAK 6 points7 points ago

These photos were probably taken before the Dark Knight series. So yeah, American Psycho was probably his most well known roll at that point.

[–]globetheater 1 point2 points ago

Certainly one of his most striking roles

[–]Tunnelofpain 0 points1 point ago

I'm reading the book right now, and I can't help but read the whole thing in his voice. It gives me chills sometimes. He was perfect for Pat Bateman, creepy, smug, arrogant and fucking insane. Seeing the movie first is actually making the book better.

[–]titdirt 0 points1 point ago

He looks more like a serial killer now IMO

[–]adkaid 15 points16 points ago

The photographer really captured the crazy in Mel Gibson's eyes.

[–]HopeRidesAlone 4 points5 points ago

I don't think it's that hard, these days.

[–]AssCrust 73 points74 points ago

I got chills when I saw Sean Bean & Viggo Mortensen.

EDIT: Holy shit I just realized it's been 12 years since the first LOTR movie came out...

[–]IHarknessI 18 points19 points ago

I would have followed you, my brother... my captain... my king.

[–]pestilent_bronco 4 points5 points ago

I cry. Every. Single. Time.

[–]dirty_banana 10 points11 points ago

I'm also surprised at how little they appear to have aged, while i have moved from being a clueless teenager to a clueless office worker.

[–]pestilent_bronco 5 points6 points ago

"You haven't aged a day..."

[–]bwmcmaste 3 points4 points ago

EDIT: Holy shit I just realized it's been 12 years since the first LOTR movie came out...

Twelve years since the first and last time I saw grown-ass men give a standing ovation to a movie screen.

[–]wikipenis 2 points3 points ago

and they still look pretty damn good.

[–]babygirl2009 3 points4 points ago

oh wow were old

[–]tommybatts 15 points16 points ago

and Jack Just Being Jack... still the best!

[–]RoughBear 9 points10 points ago

I think he's posing as his character from as good as it gets?

or about schmidt?

[–]B_Fee 2 points3 points ago

Like someone said above, that smile screams Joker from Tim Burton's Batman.

[–]Blazer9000 4 points5 points ago

That smile screams every Jack Nicholson movie ever. When is he not showing his teeth in a movie poster?

[–]RoughBear 5 points6 points ago

really don't think so, the hair, and glasses make me think "As good as it gets."

[–]TOASTER_JESUS 0 points1 point ago

its joker

[–]RoughBear -1 points0 points ago

no its not, he'd have more affectation on him.

look at cruise's, he has gloves, and CG effects, there would be more to ID him as the Joker than that...

[–]DragoneerFA 2 points3 points ago

My money's on As Good as it Gets.

[–]Jrod65 1 point2 points ago

You're all wrong. It's Terms of Endearment. And it's from this scene: http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2157412608/tt0086425

[–]DragoneerFA 1 point2 points ago

I can concede that. First image that came to mine from As Good as it Gets was this:

http://www.examiner.com/images/blog/wysiwyg/image/Jack_ASAIG.jpg

But now that I see the angle of the head in the OP's picture, yeah... you're spot on.

[–]TOASTER_JESUS 0 points1 point ago

I'm pretty sure that is the joker from the 1989 batman

[–]hatramroany 0 points1 point ago

Look at the corners of his mouth, he's the Joker.

[–]Spooge_McDuck 0 points1 point ago

Pretty sure the shirt and glasses he's wearing in this picture were his standard outfit in As Good as it Gets. You would think to represent the Joker they'd maybe give him at least one article of clothing to make it more recognizable even if it's just the hat.

[–]MrJDMTyte 0 points1 point ago

First thing it made me think of was the Joker

[–]MrT1940 26 points27 points ago

damon/bourne getting ready to kick ass with a magazine is epic!

[–]pclamer 8 points9 points ago

MATT DAMON

[–]pilotlicense 5 points6 points ago

Would have been awesome to see strings attached to his hands and feet.

[–]mckinneymd 1 point2 points ago

Would have preferred to see him with a chalkboard covered in math equations.

[–]PhilJayMc 28 points29 points ago

It's hard to associate Gerad Butler with 300 without his beard!

[–]Squalor- 20 points21 points ago

  1. Mel Gibson as William Wallace, Braveheart

  4. Matt Damon as Jason Bourne, The Bourne franchise

  5. Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman, American Psycho

Jack Nicholson as Jack Nicholson, real life

You're damn right.

[–]tommybatts 2 points3 points ago

Jack is Jack.Nothing more to say...

[–]Sheepies68 1 point2 points ago

No. Joker.

[–]maggiesmith1886 5 points6 points ago

Jack Nicholson as Melvin Udall, As Good as It Gets?

[–]Squalor- 4 points5 points ago

But when Mark Andrus and James L. Brooks were writing the screenplay, they based Melvin Udall on Jack Nicholson, haha.

[–]Gyang193 13 points14 points ago

Sam neill! Will he be in JP4?

[–]bwmcmaste 1 point2 points ago

Fine, but if they get Sam Neil in, I want Jeff Goldblum too.

[–]KYLE-BROFLOSKI 5 points6 points ago

Jack Nicholson always looks like he'd be such a fun person to hang out with. I hope that's true and he's not a dick in real life.

[–]RoughBear 3 points4 points ago

he's Jack Nicholson, he's not every nice, or a dick, he's just... Jack.

he acts the way you'd think he would, kinda odd, but nice odd for a guy who's as famous as he is.

[–]peteftw 9 points10 points ago

well he won't get us a 3rd time, that's for sure!

[–]distopiandoormatt 1 point2 points ago

Also pics are from empire.

[–]jpfdeuce 5 points6 points ago

This is from Empire Magazine's 20th anniversary. They also had video of a Goonies reunion.

[–]BlackWatches 6 points7 points ago

Man, I miss Jason Bourne movies now.

[–]ReneG8 1 point2 points ago

I do too.

[–]jseph 2 points3 points ago

Me three, but I hate the new writing direction. I feel like the whole "pills" (Renner's character going from basically mentally-handicapped to super spy after taking some pills) angle and the two new spy programs completely undermine the first three movies. It almost seemed lazy, like they didn't want to make a new storyline for Renner coming out of the same program as Bourne. As way to get around that, they made up some magic pills. The trailers for Legacy advertised something very different than what it came out to be and now I don't know if I want them to keep going.

[–]ReneG8 2 points3 points ago

I don't know, Renner in himself did a good job there. I also felt that the extended scenes really explain the movie better.

I would really like for a crossover between Renner and Damon. Renner said yes, Damon rather no.

[–]jseph 1 point2 points ago

I liked Renner too, just didn't like the story. Haven't seen the extended scenes, so I'll have to take a look at those and see if my opinion changes.

[–]ReneG8 1 point2 points ago

It explains the paranoia of the outcome agents. Explains Hirschs heart attack.

Especially the paranoia scene is good, because so much behavior is explained.

But I agree the newest one felt, storywise, a little bit tied-in. Like an afterthought, oh my there is a conspiracy behind the conspiracy.

[–]mav023 1 point2 points ago

Did you like Bourne Legacy?

[–]12hoyebr 1 point2 points ago

The Legacy just didn't live up to my expectations.

[–]hombre_lobo 5 points6 points ago

Is "blue steel" the original duck face?

[–]OleDublinBobcat 0 points1 point ago

TIL Ben Stiller is patient zero.

[–]heidismiles 0 points1 point ago

My god, I seriously thought that pic was about the Bob Dylan movie. Didn't recognize Stiller at all.

[–]TheGribbler 8 points9 points ago

Drawing a blank on Kevin Spacey.

[–]littlenemoy 24 points25 points ago

what's in the boooooox?

[–]MarcusHalberstram88 4 points5 points ago

I was trying so hard to relate that picture to Lester Burnham or Verbal/Spoiler

Now I feel stupid.

[–]dewie68 0 points1 point ago

Don't worry, when I first saw it, I knew it was Usual Suspects. Then i came here and saw the "what's in the boooooox" and realized he was in Se7en.

[–]TheGribbler 1 point2 points ago

Friend lent me the DVD a few weeks ago, need to pop it in.

[–]mckinneymd 1 point2 points ago

You most certainly do.

[–]ankisethgallant 11 points12 points ago

[–]MarcusHalberstram88 1 point2 points ago

[–]GTHappy 1 point2 points ago

Se7en

[–]mozeqq 0 points1 point ago

Seven

[–]dewie68 1 point2 points ago

Eight.

[–]klewkitkat 0 points1 point ago

Not sure if I'm right, but I saw the box and thought of Seven, with the head in the box.

[–]Tinkerboots 0 points1 point ago

Definitely Se7en

[–]privateDB 1 point2 points ago

It will kind of ruin the movie if you haven't seen it: Spoiler

[–]RedditUser88 0 points1 point ago

I figured "American Beauty for Mr Spacey"

[–]RedditUser88 0 points1 point ago

"American Beauty" for Mr Spacey FTFM

[–]nicheweird -1 points0 points ago

Best villain ever

[–]FinestManInTheLand 0 points1 point ago

It's Se7en, if you look closely in the box you can see blonde hair.

[–]4ngst 4 points5 points ago

The coolest one is Unforgiven reunion Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman look as harass ever.

Edit: yup auto correct strikes again, should be badass.

[–]skillian 2 points3 points ago

Damn auto-correct.

[–]MrJDMTyte 4 points5 points ago

I've seen these a few times now, but every time they give me a big old smile. Ingenious set of pictures.

My favorites are definitely Christian Bale, Ben Stiller and Arnie

[–]Hunk-a-Cheese 10 points11 points ago

What does Empire magazine have to do with Good Will Hunting?

[–]Thatdudeguybro 1 point2 points ago

I think it could be referring to The Bourne Supremacy when he uses a rolled up magazine to fight the last Treadstone agent.

[–]MrIndependent 1 point2 points ago

Here You Go!

Edit: Thanks ICUCorpsman

[–]ICUCorpsman 1 point2 points ago

Protip: You can que the video up to the second that you want the person to watch, right click inside the video, and choose to create a link for that moment in the video.

When they click it, it will play from right where you want it to!

[–]MrIndependent 0 points1 point ago

Thanks!

[–]reddit_best_lurker 0 points1 point ago

Bourne.

[–]Spekingur 1 point2 points ago

Bourne. Jason Bourne.

[–]Zizzac 0 points1 point ago

I think it's referencing the rolled up magazine scene from Bourne Supremecy(?) or Identity. Can't remember which it belongs to.

[–]Samsonerd 0 points1 point ago

nothing. its bourne.

[–]ChrisCastle 3 points4 points ago

Tom Cruise dosent age.

[–]midnightsbane04 1 point2 points ago

Keira Knightley and James McAvoy? What?

[–]MrIndependent 1 point2 points ago

Gracias!

[–]Tinkerboots 1 point2 points ago

Atonement

[–]midnightsbane04 0 points1 point ago

Ah! Thank you, kind sir/madam.

[–]malmac 0 points1 point ago

Atonement

[–]tragic-waste-of-skin 3 points4 points ago

Jack Nicholson's best known role would have to be The Shining IMO.

[–]Tinkerboots 0 points1 point ago

'One' of their best known, not necessarily their best known.

[–]dasbeidler 2 points3 points ago

What is the one with the guy and the girl? I recognize him as the dude from that anjolina action flick, but that's it

[–]babygirl2009 9 points10 points ago

i think its atonement

[–]patpend 3 points4 points ago

Atonement? I am just guessing.

[–]SteveMcBean 1 point2 points ago

Yea, it's Atonement. I'm guessing Kiera Knightly is holding the note that says he wants to lick her cunt.

[–]KCSunshine111 1 point2 points ago

That's Keira Knightly and James MacAvoy. So probably Atonement.

*You might know him from X-Men: First Class as well. Or as Tumnus the faun from Chronicles of Narnia.

[–]Tinkerboots 0 points1 point ago

I am almost definite that it is Atonement

[–]bluebell93 0 points1 point ago

It's definitely Atonement. The guy is James McAvoy and the girl is Keira Knightley.

[–]dasbeidler 0 points1 point ago

Oh wow! Didn't even recognize her.

[–]korination 0 points1 point ago

I was trying to figure this out too, I will offer up to 1 upvote for anyone willing to provide a 'for the lazy' breakdown of each of these.

[–]Zizzac 0 points1 point ago

Keira Knightley and what's his face from atonement

[–]chiswede 2 points3 points ago

What's really sad is that Sean Bean was killed by a falling light right after that picture.

[–]MadMills 2 points3 points ago

My first thought on seeing seeing Christian Bale: " Batman had an axe!?!" I of course then realized thats silly. That's too much awesome for one movie.

[–]SmokinDynamite 1 point2 points ago

Ned Stark is with Aragorn!

[–]Bubblie 0 points1 point ago

Amazing!

[–]Phanthomas 1 point2 points ago

Why do I feel sad when I look at this? They all look so old :( and that makes me feel old too

[–]Bigbrotherxp -1 points0 points ago

Repost or not these are not the best known roles for anyone over the age of 13.

[–]sphincters_for_eyes 1 point2 points ago

Silence of the Lambs is the best pic. Jodie Foster looks amazing.

[–]Serimorph 0 points1 point ago

I got every single one... until I got to ben stiller and was like, the fuck roles has he ever been in that were memorable?

[–]Tinkerboots 0 points1 point ago

Zoolander is memorable dammit

[–]MonDieuCestChaud -1 points0 points ago

I would have thought Morgan Freeman's was going go be Shawshank.

I would've geeked out over that.

[–]maxamus 0 points1 point ago

Gerard Butler really went downhill fast since "300". Both career and looks/physique.
