Watch Vertical Limit first. It's essentially an instructional video for climbing mountains.

Anybody know how tall this section of the mountain is? i.e vertical distance from bottom of photo to top?

Before Mt. Everest was discovered what was the tallest mountain in the world?

Hold on, let me take out my book of lame jokes and find the answer.

The unnatural color-temperature variation in this photo is impossible to achieve without a gratuitous amount of post-processing. It's also likely that this was created from multiple exposures, as evidenced by the inconsistent metering for snow tones, inconsistent contrast, and the slight haloing visible along the horizon lines of the peak (more visible on the left side). For anyone interested in what a mountain actually looks like on the planet Earth, and not with Pyrovision goggles, here's a photo: http://imgur.com/nJtH0kJ

Is it just me or does this remind anyone of skyrim?

Maybe I'm just really high right now.

The fact about this mountain that always blew my mind was that the summit of Everest is made from marine limestone...

Ah, the famous blue and orange contrast.
