There are many strong kunoichi. Konan, Chiyo, Temari, Kurotsuchi, Yugito, Pakura, Anko, Mei, Guren...

It depends on what you mean by strong. We don't know much of anything about Kurotsuchi (I don't even think she's had a canon fight besides that scrap with Kabuto), Yugito got stomped by Akatsuki without us seeing anything besides her useless tailed beast form, Pakura barely exists, Anko got stomped by Orochimaru and Kabuto and barely exists in the series.

Of those you listed Konan, Chiyo, Temari, Mei, and Guren are strong contenders but Guren is (or at least was) filler and Mei had some hype but wasn't able to show much (it's too bad the only thing we've seen from her is getting crushed by Madara).

Kishi just doesn't give any screen time or good development to female characters in his series with a few exceptions.

You have a point, most female characters have almost no screen time. About Kurotsuchi, she didn't show up except his Kabuto fight and the filler fight against Naruto but she has a great potential of power.

Yugito is really powerful but it's really hard to fight against Hidan and Kakuzu if you don't know their skills. She is one of the most powerful jinchuuriki. And again, she had no screen time.

Pakura also had no screen time but she posseses an extremely strong kekkei genkai. And she was the hero of Sunagakure.

I don't have much to say about others but as you can see, almost none of them has screen time.

Out of the rookie 9 + Team guy there are 4 female ninja, Sakura, Tenten, Hinata, and Ino.

Sakura basically has 2 skills, healing and immense strength. Lacking summoning and the self-healing skills of Tsunade, Sakura is basically useless in a high level fight.

Tenten can summon weapons, we have yet to see a jounin who can't dodge, deflect, or withstand a large number of ninja weapons. She can beat the genin and some chunin, but is useless against jounin.

Hinata has the Byakugan and gentle fist. She's a strong chunin, but would get beat in a straight fight against a jounin. However, her byakugan makes her an effective scout in every situation and kaiten allows her to defend her comrades. She can't really fight in high level matches, but she can still support her comrades.

Ino has her various mind transfer techniques and some healing skills. Althoug she's fucked in 1 on 1 fights, when with Choji and Shikamaru the Ino-Shika-Cho combo has been shown to be one of the strongest combinations and very hard to counter even by highly skilled ninja. Even when not with Choji and Shikamaru, Mind Destruction and Mind Clone allow her to adapt to work with almost any shinobi.

TL;DR Of the 4 main female ninja, only Sakura and Tenten are basically useless.

konan was preparing to fight tobi for a lot longer than tobi was her. She set up paper bombs all over the village. But she wasnt prepared for jirayia and lost instantly. The real strong female ninja is mei, she pretty effectively handled sasuke at a moments notice, and fought decently against madara.

Yeah, Konan was far and away the best kunoichi in the series. Her personality, abilities, and manner of speech was completely unique and absolutely fascinating. It's a damned shame that she was cut down so cruelly. I would have loved to have seen her, and Amegakure under her leadership, support Naruto in his future endeavors.

I absolutely love Naruto, but man, most of the females get little attention in comparison to the males and/or are sexualized if they are strong. It's really upsetting. It's small things like that why I think FMA: Brotherhood's character development and gender neutrality is so much better.

I can count the useful kunoichi on one hand. Temari, Chiyo, and Konan are the only ones who have had a good showing in a fight. If I stretched it I could add Mei, but that's about it.
