You are so wrong. The plane flies in what's called a parabolic arc. In free fall, horizontal velocity is preserved so the only thing that is changed is vertical velocity. The plane flies in the same pattern in which an object free falls (in this case, a body) and whatever is inside is falling with the plane around it. No engines are turned off. Just a flight pattern.
