As an Ohio University alum, you nailed the Republic of Athens. And as a native of a small town NE of Youngstown, you also nailed that too

[–]ReallyShouldStudy 1 point2 points ago

As someone from a suburb of Youngstown who is about to start at YSU, I can confirm that the bravest of warriors don't venture to these lands, and that's because they're from these lands. Shit, man, you gotta be brave to live here.

Or lacking money to leave...

[–]Pilotted -3 points-2 points ago

In before Bane/TDKR reference.

Seriously though, Y-town, goddamn.

[–]a0t0fAthens 1 point2 points ago

as an Athenian I concur.

[–]RadioActiveKitt3ns 12 points13 points ago

The Wilderness of the South thanks you for not using its proper name of Oxycontinland.

[–]dcviperColumbus 2 points3 points ago

I will admit to referring to anything outside of Central Ohio as "The Hinterlands."

[–]TheAexDayton 7 points8 points ago

Dayton will never be absorbed!

[–]Darnov 6 points7 points ago

No, it will just sprawl out and destroy surrounding villages viking style.

[–]Rhawk187 5 points6 points ago

But with drone strikes from Wright-Patt

[–]Grimlyn 0 points1 point ago

We won't be absorbed because no one gives a shit. The "CinDay" project is taking waaaaay to long. Partially cause no one cares about Cincy either.

[–]rootbeerslam 3 points4 points ago

The Sparta of Ohio!

[–]Grimlyn 2 points3 points ago

There is no truer statement. If all towns were attacked in Ohio, Dayton would most likely be the place to run too.

Super 8 was Fictionally filmed there. We can handle aliens x10

[–]Cpt_Hockeyhair 8 points9 points ago

Hooray! I'm a Wildling!

[–]Amanda101389 8 points9 points ago

I've lived in the Youngestown/warren area all my life, I don't know anything different. I don't know if I'm brave or not.

[–]CaduscusColumbus 5 points6 points ago

So brave.

[–]wipeout4wh 1 point2 points ago

The Wilderness is very accurate. I'm from The Sultanate of Toledo.

[–]ignatia_amaraCanton 6 points7 points ago

That's right, Cleveland and Akron. CANTON IS COMING FOR YOU!

[–]TheRealFenderAkron 5 points6 points ago

[–]TheRealFenderAkron 3 points4 points ago

clenches

this is made sooooo much better due to the city flair

[–]ignatia_amaraCanton 1 point2 points ago

Canton is totally right at your back door, too.

[–]dcviperColumbus 1 point2 points ago

Yeah... You gotta go through Kenmore.

[–]druciusAkron 2 points3 points ago

Ewok Sodomy thats a new one. Also, i need a new keyboard now that this one is soaked in coffee.

[–]pntless 0 points1 point ago

As a subject of one of the countless minor fiefdoms across this land, this map represents how I view the state as well.

[–]MrNovember785Cleveland 2 points3 points ago

This is perfect. I love you.

[–]Dragon9770 2 points3 points ago

Hooray for dual citizenship in the Free-State of Cedarpoint and the Cleveland-Akron Commonwealth (I live exactly on that line). Best of both world's I guess :p Btw, the impression I have of the south, true or not, is that anything that isnt the city proper is the wilds. :D

[–]dcviperColumbus 1 point2 points ago

It's true.

[–]Grimlyn 5 points6 points ago

The Wilderness is AKA Bum Fucked Egypt, Toothless Town, That Shall Not Be Named, Still Waiting For Electricity, One-armed Billy's Tiger Preserve, etc....

[–]dcviperColumbus 1 point2 points ago

I frequently refer to it as "The Hinterland."

[–]Hero_Of_Sandwich[S] 0 points1 point ago

That's probably a little more politically correct.

[–]RadioActiveKitt3ns 1 point2 points ago

Ay! My electricity is just fine unless the wind is blowing!

[–]NickOnRedditDayton[!] 3 points4 points ago

Kingdom of Dayton checking in!

[–]Jvlette 3 points4 points ago

BAHAHAHAAHAHAHA. Oh good lord. I'm from Youngstown. Oh, the accuracy. xD

[–]nightcrawler616Cincinnati 2 points3 points ago

City of Hamilton representing! We're like a tiny Kingdom all of our own, ruling Butler County from within our walls. Though we live beneath the shadow of Cincinnati, we cling to our independence with our own utility company. Duke has no power here. Also meth.

[–]yakimushiCleveland 2 points3 points ago

You guys are only more powerful when measured in bland suburbs. Zing!

[–]sailorlayla 1 point2 points ago

Accurate, except that the Cedar Point Free State is completely irrelevant from November through April.

[–]Hero_Of_Sandwich[S] 1 point2 points ago

That's a good point. Nonetheless, being from Columbus, that sort of slips my mind. Honestly, in my mind, Sandusky sort of just fades out of existence entirely in those months. :p

[–]sailorlayla 1 point2 points ago

Easy mistake, man. We only prevent completely fading away by keeping up an "impressive" murder tally.

[–]johnnycash527 1 point2 points ago

Then it becomes Kalahari Interum Free State

[–]abowen79 1 point2 points ago

As someone from one of the towns along the river in The Wilderness... Gotdamn right on the money bub!

[–]OhYa_ImAtWork 1 point2 points ago

Youngstown isn't that bad. Feel free to come rescue me, though.

[–]ThatChackGuy 1 point2 points ago

Ah Youngstown, never got back on her feet since the mills burned down and the rebellions. Only brave souls venture there.

[–]cvcpres12 1 point2 points ago

I'm glad the fiefdom of Herionshire(Marion) wasn't mentioned by name.

[–]HaikuHiker 1 point2 points ago

The people's republic of Athens is more like it.

[–]johnnycash527 0 points1 point ago

you should separate Catawba from the Sultanate of Toledo and have it as its own area with the addition of the islands like Kelley's/Bass Islands/etc. For example, The Haven of Refuge and Relaxtion

[–]n2tjx 1 point2 points ago

You did leave out the lesser serfdom of Ashtabula and their traditional "Fucking fucktits does this fucking freezing wind ever fucking stop!?" chant. They saw their rise and fall around 1812 and today cling to the honor of having the most yet-discovered EPA superfund sites.

[–]RavynChild 1 point2 points ago

I take it you live in the harbor?

[–]n2tjx 1 point2 points ago

I worked on some projects up there. Coldest, wind stricken, chemical plant hell-on-earth place I've ever been.

The lake sunsets are beautiful, but come November, they should just close 90 and all the lake counties from Mentor to about Tonawanda NY like a bar at 2AM. Also, about the saddest most depressed people I've ever met. It's like half the factory I work was just walking around wishing to GOD they could just be killed in a chemical explosion.

[–]MsSpaghetti 1 point2 points ago

As a Sanduskian and an Athenian, I wholeheartedly approve.

[–]sailorlayla 2 points3 points ago

/fistbump yeah, Sandusky.

[–]5thEyeColumbus -3 points-2 points ago

please, please learn the proper usage of "it's" and "its".

[–]Hero_Of_Sandwich[S] 2 points3 points ago

Sorry. I know the difference and I am usually a stickler about it myself. I noticed I kept making the mistake for some reason, and I corrected it a few times, but I guess I missed some as well.

It's just very easy to mess up typing in MS paint and very difficult to correct mistakes. There is a few other grammatical mistakes as well. I'll fix it if I ever make a second draft of this with more detail.
