Not true (especially in the beginning). It can be painful if you're not relaxed enough. It takes some mind control the first couple times to relax and be ready for the sensation, especially if you're nervous. After getting used to relaxing it's not painful at all. You're right about lube. Lube is ESSENTIAL.

Agreed, what I meant is that you shouldn't do it if it's hurting. If you're not "ready" (read:relaxed) then you should wait until you are and not be so eager to "get it in there". It's not like a vagina where the skin might require some stretching, which hurts even if you're as relaxed as possible.
