You may have posted this to the wrong subreddit if you wanted to make a legitimate point. The people in /r/pics are much more interested in derision and vitriol than matters of substance or logic.

I saw someone suggest the other day that if guns are the problem the president should replace the armed men around him with a "gun free zone". Made me chuckle. Guns are a tool and have their place. Any tool can be misused. The person wielding the tool is the object with a will, a gun cannot willfully commit any act.

Those saying "these are trained professionals" are right. They are pointing out that the people in this picture can be trusted. They are making the point that the gun is not the problem. It is the person using the gun that is capable of malice or heroism. If you want to know why some people kill and others protect using the same weapon you will notice that the person is the variable. Banning the tool they choose will only force malicious people to become more creative. Address the problem, not a red herring.

Also, remember LIBOR? Seems like this issue itself is a red herring intended to embroil us in a fight amongst ourselves while the criminals that upset and profited from wide-scale deception and corruption seem to go free. Don't think about the fact that every central bank controlled economy, every fractional reserve based banking system was manipulated for the profit of a few already wealthy individuals.

Shouldn't this be on your Facebook feed?

You see these men are trained professionals. They know how to properly operate and use their weapons, and they know what happens when they use them. Not everyone is so skilled with firearms...

Not everyone. Just the other 100,000,000 gun owners that don't harm anyone.

Background check

[–]highguy420 0 points1 point ago

Isn't a background check law a soft registry? If I were going to confiscate guns I'd start with the list of people who have applied for background checks for gun ownership, most recent and most frequent at the top of the list.

That is very true, however the proposals that are being made grandfather in existing arms and mags. I have been seeing too many comparisons to soviet, nazi and socialist weapons confiscations. I may get down voted for saying this here but our lawfully owned civilian arms aren't going to do much against today's armed services should they be mobilized domestically. Heavy weapons, drones, armored vehicles > ar15, ar10, wasr10. Needless to say, hope that never happens.
