I'd rather have that Wolf stove.

[–]poopings 5 points6 points ago

we have one in the house.....amazzzzzzzing

[–]Ass_Explosion 509 points510 points ago

For everyone saying this sink is useless to wash something in, that is a prep sink; specifically designed for washing/cutting food, not dishes. You may not know this but your kitchen sink is just about the dirtiest thing in your home, for that reason most restaurants have sinks specifically for prepping food, this sink is there to help someone that understands food borne illness prevent that illness in their home.

Now I await my downvotes.

[–]spongerat 30 points31 points ago

this sink would be amazingly useful for prepping, you can wash a veggie then chop shit up and slide peels etc off into the disposal without having to move

[–]wiffleaxe 17 points18 points ago

Let me introduce you to the over-the-sink silicone strainer board! I have a different model but it's a fantastic invention.

You can use the silicone part to rinse veggies, put chopped food in, or put waste to then toss.

[–]StereotypeHype 2 points3 points ago

Perhaps people have never thought to clean their sinks before placing food in them for preparation.

[–]I_Have_Many_Names 3 points4 points ago

I'd really like this for a second sink for my kitchen island. I'd conceived of something similar, but it was square and would need a lot of custom work. This one's accessible from both sides, which is pretty cool. I'd want a nice gas range next to it.

[–]YourACoolGuy 1 point2 points ago

I automatically thought this. I'm pretty sure they have a completely different area with a larger sink and counter.

[–]JohnSilwer 1 point2 points ago

Yet we have lived so many years without this piece of garbage. There are so many other stuff I would rather buy for our house.

[–]ChiefBromden 3 points4 points ago

The first prep cook that looks at that small ass cutting board is going to laugh hard.

[–]Ass_Explosion 3 points4 points ago

This is for a home, not a commercial kitchen.

[–]dorekk 0 points1 point ago

You may not know this but your kitchen sink is just about the dirtiest thing in your home

[–]arpeggiator 540 points541 points ago

This looks completely fucking useless...

[–]boomtakzaag 185 points186 points ago

... and like impossible to properly clean.

[–]nofelix 93 points94 points ago

I'm fairly sure the two cutting boards and draining things just lift off.

[–]ordinaryrendition 48 points49 points ago

I saw the picture and thought, "hey that looks awesome, now to the comments section to learn why this is total bullshit"

[–]heather1980 16 points17 points ago

As a mother I saw this and immediatly thought "I'd never have time to clean that."

Also... when would I need that? Even if I had a party, or there was a fire... I'd just never need it.

[–]leoholt 56 points57 points ago

As a college student with a tiny kitchen, I would really love a sink like that. I am constantly struggling to maintain an efficient workspace, as I have one small sink and a tabletop that is barely a square foot in size. Although I don't think this would make sense in any real kitchen, it seems like an excellent solution for places with limited space

[–]lexbuck 54 points55 points ago

How much counter space could you possibly need for ramen?

[–]Green-Daze 42 points43 points ago

It's not for the ramen.

You need a flat surface to iron the grilled cheese.

[–]PoultryAdultery 11 points12 points ago

Dude. Toaster.

[–]TravestyTravis 2 points3 points ago

Even better. Toaster oven and a rice cooker. Bam. You can now cook anything you would ever need to eat.

http://priceonomics.com/rice-cookers/

[–]ThatJanitor 6 points7 points ago

Why would you need 4 sinks? 4 rotating sinks.

[–]ShawarmaOrigins 8 points9 points ago

Bullshit! College students don't cook. They microwave, steal, starve, possibly cook KD using a radiator, or make grill cheese with an iron.

[–]librlman 11 points12 points ago

Cook a Kappa Delta? I always ate mine raw.

[–]The_Doctor_Bear 3 points4 points ago

That sink is gigantic, unwieldy, and terribly inefficient.

[–]yeahyeahyeahyeahoh 3 points4 points ago

Try doing your dishes

[–]Rash_Bandicoot 32 points33 points ago

I was gonna say. I think "revolution" may be ambitious.

[–]Kristsilvershade 52 points53 points ago

I thought the same thing until I realized it was a pun.

[–]e42343 8 points9 points ago

But it is revolutionary. Just remember though, not every revolution is useful.

All in all I think that's a terrible sink.

[–]brian3snip 26 points27 points ago

Revolution has more than one meaning. i.e. Rotation

[–]FRENZY2K 6 points7 points ago

"Ambitious but rubbish." --Jeremy Clarkson

[–]jackherer 7 points8 points ago

It's not meant for a main sink, it's an island prep sink. For certain tasks, it's pretty great.

[–]bloodflart 10 points11 points ago

Peter Molyneux is OP

[–]ElRonPaul 4 points5 points ago

Nah, I mean there is actually a sink and it does actually rotate and do new things.

[–]Zizhou 1 point2 points ago

But it was supposed to make me care about it and become emotionally invested in it.

[–]WolfDemon 3 points4 points ago

As someone who spends a lot of time in a kitchen, at home and at work, I got a little hard looking at that picture

[–]thenerdal 15 points16 points ago

Eh, not really, without moving, you can wash dishes, then slide the cutting board to cut your shit and shit.

It has a use. lol.

[–]strel1337 1 point2 points ago

I think it's pretty revolvutionary

[–]Digapony49 4 points5 points ago

WHAT! That is the nicest sink I have ever seen in my life.

[–]Trifur 3 points4 points ago

Totally. My first though was how am I going to was my big pans and casserole dishes in this thing?

[–]littlehighlittlelow 0 points1 point ago

When I first saw the picture, I thought it was awesome.

Then I saw your comment and I changed my mind.

[–]usernameblank 85 points86 points ago

Looks like a bunch of shit that's in my way. Just give me the sink part.

[–]Senor_Wilson 32 points33 points ago

No, where would you chop your vegetables if you don't have a sink cutting board? Use your head man.

[–]Socky_McPuppet 30 points31 points ago

Your head would seem to be a sub-optimal place to chop vegetables in the absence of a chopping board in the sink.

Just my $0.02

[–]j9d2 10 points11 points ago

Idk... You must be some sort of chef because two pennies wouldn't even be close to the surface area that I would need to chop pretty much anything.

[–]Socky_McPuppet 7 points8 points ago

Eh not really - I use the same kitchen stuff everyone does - Nikon 600x binocular microscope, diamond scalpel, atomic-force manipulators, that kind of thing. NBD.

[–]CaptainYoshi 2 points3 points ago

You realize all the cutting boards and shit just lift off right?

[–]outaspace 6 points7 points ago

For all the haters out there, I am guessing you have a full size sink and this is a second sink for food prep. I am pretty sure this was not intend for washing dishes in.

I don't know how to break it to them, but nearly none of those are actually sinks. They're basins.

[–]filipha 5 points6 points ago

But to clean that bitch...

[–]Kaostherie 4 points5 points ago

This sink is called the KWC Water Station and it retails for about $5300 for a top mount and 11,000 for a complete island unit not counting the fixtures you put in. I have read that this unit is no longer manufactured but it appears to be available through different sources online.

[–]iBrick 33 points34 points ago

Form over function bullshit! Sure it looks nice, but try washing a baking tray in a sink that's about 2 inches deep, round, and covered with useless shit. I guess the people buying those also wear a hand tailored tuxedo / long nails and high heels in the kitchen.

I had no idea I was that emotional about sinks.

[–]Otzlowe 13 points14 points ago

The shallower pans and cutting boards lift off of the deeper sink basin (which looks fairly deep as far as sinks are concerned).

[–]iBrick 9 points10 points ago

Ah - OK, then it could be a good sink for people with tiny kitchens. Also, what I forgot is that americans have those garbage-disposal shredding thingies in their sinks, so the cutting board makes a bit more sense there, for preparing vegetables.

[–]PowderPuffGirls 3 points4 points ago

Do you still dispose your organic trash in the sink in the US? Genuine question.

[–]Rvish 1 point2 points ago

I don't know how it is where you are, but in the U.S. there's pretty much only 3 ways to get rid of 'organic trash'. In the trash with everything else, down the disposal, or (very uncommonly) home composting. The only compostable stuff that's processed on a community scale is yard waste. That I've ever seen at least.

[–]ryebrye 1 point2 points ago

Its true - but you only get a garbage disposal when you gain citizzenship

[–]TheSaddestGrape 8 points9 points ago

I don't think it's meant as a proper sink for doing dishes and shit, but rather like a station for washing and cutting food and other small things. If I had plenty of floor space to spare, I can see it being handy. At least as long as there's a brake for the damn thing. I'd hate to be cutting on a moving board. Still seems too costly for its utility...

[–]doesntakethehighroad 10 points11 points ago

This is an island sink meant for prep work. There'll still be a dish washing sink against the wall.

[–]Ass_Explosion 4 points5 points ago

That sink isn't designed to wash pans, or any dishes for that matter.

[–]counting_kittens 1 point2 points ago

You have painted an interesting picture of this sink owner. What's wrong with people who wear female tuxedos or men who get their nails done and wear heels?

[–]SodomEyes 1 point2 points ago

And it can be yours for a mere £6,785.06! (that's just under nine grand for my fellow colonists).

[–]Strindberg 3 points4 points ago

Is the sliced lemon included in that price?

Nothing a quick google search couldn't handle. Seems to be something exclusive, created for rich people by some guy. Didn't read the whole article :p

[–]fiddleandthedrum[S] 3 points4 points ago

Who DOESN'T need one of these? Unfortunately I found it on pintrest and the link doesn't take you to somewhere that tells you ANYTHING about them.

[–]h8bit 2 points3 points ago

explain the purpose of this thing and how it is better than a normal sink and a cutting board and a colander; things you can put away during the 99.9999% of your life when you're not actively using them

[–]ChiefBrokenToe 0 points1 point ago

Damn ... this is just ... cool.

Who knew I could a bit aroused by a sink?

[–]er147 3 points4 points ago

Looks like a lot of shit to clean

[–]400asa 1 point2 points ago

It looks a bit complicated for the functionality that it's trying to have.
Moreover, when you're god awfully rich you can afford a big ass counter to put everything on display while you cook, that's the luxury.
This concept would maybe work in space-saving projects, but since it's not the point here, I don't truthfully get it.

Edit: syntactic maintenance.

[–]axpax 2 points3 points ago

it's not a concept, it's a real product: http://www.kitchensinkco.com/public/product/detail/3078/

[–]greg888 0 points1 point ago

That's dangerous. None of my dishes would ever be washed... (Until I needed to use them.)

[–]rosjone 5 points6 points ago

Please, I am sure whoever owns that either doesn't do their own dishes or has a dishwasher.

[–]judgej2 4 points5 points ago

It is a food preparation station. I doubt it was ever intended for dishes.

[–]kirizzel 0 points1 point ago

I would spin that shit all... night... long...

[–]MDKrouzer 0 points1 point ago

Either that wood surface needs to be varnished to protect it from the water soaking in, which makes it a poor chopping surface or the wood isn't varnished and the board needs to be removable to allow it to dry properly away from the sink.

[–]DonaldsPizzaHaven 0 points1 point ago

brutal

[–]the_obs -1 points0 points ago

Hideous red knobs on the stove, though.

[–]jamie1414 0 points1 point ago

I feel like cleaning the cutting board would result in splashing water...everywhere.

[–]baubaugo 0 points1 point ago

Whoever designed this clearly doesn't have as much shit in their sink as I have in mine.

[–]hefnetefne 1 point2 points ago

revolutionary... lol

[–]moojah 0 points1 point ago

My kind of revolution - something that aids the scoffing of food.

[–]Realdorsten 0 points1 point ago

People are gathering in the streets as we speak, carrying pitchforks and torches. Each of them are looking at each other, and slowly singing their mantra of freedom, "SINK! SINK! SINK!"

Holy shit you are right, it is revolutionary

[–]Source_Australian 0 points1 point ago

Revolutionary? You can get it at ikea.

[–]NaturalDeity 0 points1 point ago

Somehow "revolutionary" seems a bit over the top. Stop devaluing words.

[–]xFaDgEx 0 points1 point ago

Revolutionary... ICWDUT OP

[–]bej80 0 points1 point ago

Or instead have a kitchen that comes with counters?

[–]MeiBlossom 0 points1 point ago

All we need is a button to spin it, make it bigger to wash bigger things, and easier ways to clean it. Bam, perfect sink.

[–]Fire_Godd 0 points1 point ago

I live in an extremely small house, so this could prove useful to me. In 99% of situations though, I think this thing is rather useless.

[–]ArkadiusMaximus 0 points1 point ago

I think you are using the word revolutionary wrong.

[–]Derwos 0 points1 point ago

That's not revolul... oh. Very funny.

[–]ImNorwegian 0 points1 point ago

I thiink the pun here will be lost on many, but I thought it funny.

[–]Inkthinker 0 points1 point ago

I can see it being useful for prepping food, but useless for cleanup. The basin doesn't appear nearly deep enough for pots and pans and dishes, unless it gets deeper after you lift out the centerpiece.

Also looks difficult to clean properly. Still, I like the idea, and if I had a fancy kitchen I could see it working nicely as a second sink.

-EDIT- ah, I see... there's not a central pivot, the segments all come out separately, making them small enough to clean easily. They don't rotate, they slide. Undoubtedly there is a deeper basin beneath them. Okay, I'm into it.

[–]gearsolid 0 points1 point ago

nice, someone has to clean the sink 5 times

[–]Jarob22 0 points1 point ago

Looks like things might have taken a turn for the better in the world of sinks.

[–]FireFightinChick 0 points1 point ago

As someone who loves to cook and sees the good prep potential in this... Shut up and take my money!

[–]TriplH -1 points0 points ago

[–]FyslexicDuck -1 points0 points ago

You spelled 'gimmicky' wrong.

[–]tinhat -1 points0 points ago

no splash back behind the stove. no exhaust fan above. Sink looks like a fun place to crap in at a party.

[–]dadajinks 0 points1 point ago

Shirt up and take my money

[–]jamo133 0 points1 point ago

Revolutionary...rotating, that's a tautology.

[–]richiewww 0 points1 point ago

Pluming and maintenance nightmare, I imagine.

[–]Cee-Jay 0 points1 point ago

Am I the only one who imagines they'd spend more time rotating themselves around this thing than rotating the sink itself?

This is called a Kitchen. A real Kitchen,

what you britshit call "An American Kitchen".

Now Eat your heart out, get it Eat. LOL!

[–]rbasov 0 points1 point ago

I have that same faucet at my house!

[–]Magrias 0 points1 point ago

ha ha, revolutionary

[–]Squeetard 0 points1 point ago

This is a food prep type thing. Not for washing dishes.

[–]anotherlibertarian 0 points1 point ago

Why wouldn't you make the sinks stationary and just have the faucet swivel?

[–]chunchun1 0 points1 point ago

my brain is full of want

[–]roadhand 0 points1 point ago

Would be great at the cabin, or for a wet bar in the study, but at 6785. pounds, a little too expensive for my taste.

Cool idea, until you have to clean it

[–]Tom_de_MySpace 0 points1 point ago

What is it with reddit and sinks lately?

[–]LondonTiger 0 points1 point ago

has anyone actually tried cutting stuff on thse fancy shaped cutting boards? the most practicaly shape is a rectangle. It's the ebst shape I found for doing cutting work. With these trapezoid shape cutting board the narrow side will be next to useless. So the actual practical area becomes limited.

[–]hayfever76 0 points1 point ago

Holy Shit! And affordably priced at just US $13,500. I'll take 2! http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/9563745

[–]Mvisioning 0 points1 point ago

the sink is cool and clever, but that oven is hideous

[–]Dimath 0 points1 point ago

Sink is ok, but I like the bong in the back.

[–]Juiceworld 0 points1 point ago

Shut up and take my money.

[–]ObamaisYoGabbaGabba 0 points1 point ago

Rotolutionary...

seriously this is for chefs, not regular people, everyday people would find this useless and taking up space.

Chefs would love it for prep.. so no.. not revolutionary... novel.

[–]The4mccoys 0 points1 point ago

This is something from my dreams. Seriously. Wow.

[–]PsykickPriest 0 points1 point ago

Revolutionary??!!? A sink? I never would have imagined. I thought we had reached the real End of History when it came to sinks.

This.... this is going to change everything.

[–]IronLunchBox 0 points1 point ago

It's newfangled and interesting.....bah I don't like it!

[–]RzK 0 points1 point ago

I wonder how someone could sink of this design

[–]nosdunk 0 points1 point ago

revolutionary

Literally!

[–]Ashenfenix 1 point2 points ago

thats probably fun to fix, or buy new parts for. Also, I find that when i wash vegetables, or perform any duties required of a prep sink, I use my regular sink and a clean brush. Its not like you rub your produce along the walls of your sink. well maybe you do.

[–]CoSunny 0 points1 point ago

Great....more room for dirt dishes...oh joy!

[–]TheSquisis 1 point2 points ago

[–]BUTWHYNOTZOIDBERG 0 points1 point ago

[–]AndrewPriest 0 points1 point ago

Jenkins, that's brilliant!

[–]MyFaceMyFaceOhMyFace 0 points1 point ago

revolutionary? More like useless. What is that a sink for ANTS?

[–]cobweb1989 0 points1 point ago

Had one of these in my last house and i can assure you that they are shit. There is no space to leave things to dry and the sink is usually too small. The only good thing was the nozzle and thats charm wore off after the first few uses.

[–]ppadru1 0 points1 point ago

Ooh and you can play a game of russian knife roulette. Just spin the wheel of misfortune and see where the blade lands!

[–]darko187 1 point2 points ago

revolutionary pain in the ass to properly clean rotating sink****

[–]fikirte 0 points1 point ago

Yes, I can see this as being handy for prep, the water hose, if it were powerful would be fantastic.

The chopping boards look smaller than I'm used to but having a number of them would be great, one for veg, fish and meat.

For the dishes it would be shite, in fact a right pain. If it were attached to a large deeper rectangle basin, with a drainage board, then it might be workable.

This has been designed for people that have a dishwasher, called Sheryl beavering away with proper sinks, perhaps stuck in another room so as not to trouble the guests.

[–]krosh08 0 points1 point ago

If I am not mistaken this sink was designed by Tim Odom

[–]jekylll 0 points1 point ago

[–]martykenny 0 points1 point ago

[–]HappyonaShelf 0 points1 point ago

[–]hgmanifold 0 points1 point ago

There is A LOT of misinformation/speculation in this thread about this sink.

This is a Rieber Waterstation. It is intended to be used as the main sink and can be used Bar/Prep sink.

[–]Betic 0 points1 point ago

[–]teh_tg 0 points1 point ago
