What's up with the link of this picture?

So... why does it work? Consider me disabled at math.

A2 + B2 = C2. Basically, adding the square of the length of the two shorter legs of the triangle equal the square of the length of the hypotenuse (the leg opposite of the right angle).

reading this was like trying to interpret hieroglyphics...

think of the two smaller sides that start filled with the blue liquid as A and B while that third empty side is C. A2 + B2 = C2 refers to the length of the sides of the triangles. And as you can see each of the containers that hold the liquid are squares. showing that those two sides filled with liquid (A and B) equal the third side (C).

pythagorean theorem states that for a right triangle, a2 + b2 = c2

they are just visualizing this with a volume of water.

Is this from ZOOM?

I don't understand math all to well.

Say the short side of the right angle (a) is 3 units, the long side of the right angle (b) is 4 units and the longer unknown (c) is 5. They are showing that 3x3 and 4x4=5x5 or a2 x b2 = c2 (Pythagorean Theorem)

a2 x b2 = c2

I think you meant +

[–]TheClayroo 0 points1 point ago

Shit, yes I did. I wrote "and" meaning plus, but kept screwing up the editing I must have made a mistake, good catch.

Or English.

When you think about it, since the glass containers are technically prisms, this is a nice proof of the 3-D version as well.

This almost makes math look cool.

This gets reposted almost every fucking day!

[–]Shaibah -3 points-2 points ago

so for your cakeday you decided to repost. classy!

Well, to be fair, it is, and generally redditors don't like reposts.

Also, they're*
