            The distinction between Europe and Asia is totally bogus from a geographical perspective. Europe is clearly just the western part of Asia.

            From an ethnic perspective, it doesn't make much sense either. The people of SE Europe, Ukraine, etc. make more sense lumped together with the Middle East than with Western Europeans.

                      Family business is insurance. I got my license out of high school to assist with my family's agency.

                      I got my BS in music from the University of Oregon while working at Best Buy. I finally had my fill of BB's soul-sucking crap and left. I got a gig working at Gamestop in the mall. It wasn't great, pay wasn't as good, but I didn't hate myself when I went home.

                      Payed off, too. I went out of my way to treat the local game company employees well. One of them offered me an interview for their customer support position. I graduated from college and a few months later started my job at GarageGames which became InstantAction.

                      I took an interest in community and social media and helped to launched the site podcast with my former counterpart DrWiley.

                      The company ultimately went under after struggling for a few years. I started on Feb 4 of 2008 and my last official day was December 1st, 2010. All in all, an educational, enjoyable ride and I got to work with Louis Castle (creator of Command and Conquer) so that was pretty cool.

                      I was unemployed until August of 2011 when I was hired as the North American community manager for Battlefield 3. Moved to the bay and the rest is history.

                      My Oregon insurance license lapsed, but I think I'm ok with that ;)

                      I got a chance to get some friends jobs. I also got a few gigs for people who were active members in the old InstantAction community - I'm very proud of them.

                      Moral of the story: Always be awesome. You never know who's watching and/or looking for talent.

                      Most insurers in many jurisdictions will sell you comprehensive coverage without having to take full coverage (which usually also includes collision coverage).

                      All-perils coverage would also cover this.

                      Fact: Collision coverage is technically suppose to cover a scenario where you hit an animal, since its technically a "collision" with an animal. But due to an animal's unpredictability, nearly all insurers in MOST jurisdictions will cover a collision with an animal under comprehensive coverage since it usually has a lower deductible and won't negatively affect the client's accident record.

                      **please note: Colliding with a DEAD animal that's on the road will usually be deemed an at fault accident, and will only be covered with collision coverage, not comprehensive.

                              This absolutely looks like a moose. Moose have white legs and grayish body, one of the ways to tell moose bulls and cows apart is how sharp the white to gray transition is. If it's sharp and kinda looks like white stockings then it's a bull, if it's a blurry transition it's a cow.

                                                    This happened to me and my father, except that the deer (which was a pregnant doe) went through the windshield on my side. I was sleeping at the time so it was good that my eyes were closed, but I recieved blunt force trauma to my face. The glass being smashed into my faced by the deer caused lots of hypertrophic scarring. My nose was completely crushed and my cheek bones were broken. I lost some eyesight in my left eye and still, seven years later have small shards of glass in my face. I have gone through more than 15 surgeries and a cornea transplant. I was airlifted 100 miles to a large hospital to recieve proper treatment. So yeah, it was not cool.

                                                                In Russia particularly, insurance scams whereby someone walks out into traffic and pretends you hit them are epidemic. In USandA, it's deer. This one was obviously a total fraud perpetrated by an addict, most likely for lichen money. He'll probably settle out of court and be back doing the same thing again in a couple weeks.

                                                                    There is an android app that records non stop and it works like a dvr, rewriting the file after a certain size is reached. If something happens you have the option to save the video. It also saves gps data like location and speed.

                                                                    This is what most police dash cams do. They cache something like 2 hours, then begin overwriting. When the lights are activated, the video is hard recorded for the duration, as well as the ~5 minutes prior, and up to 30 minutes afterwards. Once the car pulls into the garage, everything is uploaded automatically to the servers, logged, tagged, and saved.

                                                                    Officers generally have zero access to the hard drive or camera controls. Prevents tampering/etc.

                                                                    Source - I worked IT for the Sheriff's Department for a year or so. Really neat stuff when you get into the backend and sheer amount of storage necessary.

                                                                        My younger sister tried driving our backroads at night for the first time in the mustang. She also had the window down. Anyway, she looked over and a deer was trotting alongside the road by her and it looked her way for a second, so she slowed down to give it a better chance of crossing without getting hit.

                                                                        It stayed beside the car and gave her another couple of glances. She said the last look it gave her was like it was saying, "Alright, here I go!" and it slammed full force into the door, head and neck in the window between her face and the wheel. The force of it's launch and the car speed made it flip over the top of the car.

                                                                        My sister screamed and slammed on the brakes, while the deer hopped across the last lane of the road, over a fence, looked back to give an upset snort, and away it went. On the other hand, my sister hates backroads at night now.

                                                                        I was driving about 70 when a big empty gas can blew in front of me. I hit it and launched it about 80 ft in the air. A few seconds later it came down right on top of the car behind me. I put one hand out the window and another out the sun roof to signify a well-earned field goal.

                                                                        This exact thing happened to me, but it was at night and the other vehicle was a pickup truck. He hit the deer first and it was thrown over into me. I did a 180 as I moved down the road. I got out and the guy in the truck said, "I hit a deer". "I know", was all I could come up with. The damage to my car was extensive, but mostly cosmetic, so I drove on home. Sad for the deer.

                                                                        Anyone have a good recommendation for a not to expensive, but useful and hopefully hassle free dash cam? Figured this would (almost) be as good a place as any to ask.
