Handwriting looks different. Probably left a cash tip and OP wrote that in there for karma.

Agreed. Just assuming everything posted on Reddit is bogus is probably a 90% successful strategy.

Whenever I leave a cash tip I write, "Cash" in the line so they don't think I'm a loser for a half second it takes to look at the table.

Fuck people who do this. So much.

[–]Optimistic-nihilist 5 points6 points ago

And if you are the one that reposted this FUCK YOU !

To anyone who just arrived and are sifting through the comments: A bunch of people who have never worked in a restaurant in the U.S. are complaining about having to tip, and then people who have worked in U.S. restaurants are bitching at them because they don't understand how U.S. waiters/waitresses/servers make money.

Then when it is explained that the servers only get paid enough of a wage to cover taxes and have to rely on tips to pay bills, everyone comments on how shitty of a system that is and how restaurant managers and owners must be the biggest d-bags ever to perpetuate this kind of system.

This happens every time this sort of thing is posted on reddit.

What a jerk! I agree, $140 can get you plenty of food. How many people were at the table?

Totally not the same handwriting: even if we assume that the customer switches between print and semi-cursive, look at a couple of the in-common letters. 'g' is open and descending above, closed loop below. 'o' is drawn counter-clockwise above, but clockwise below. 'n' begins with a descending stroke above, ends ascending, but is completely the opposite below. 'y' is fluid above, two strokes below.

TL:DR; OP is a faggot.

I feel bad for the kids who have parents like this.

If you can't afford to tip, you can't afford to eat out. Buy groceries or pack a lunch, just don't inflict your issues on a server.

I'm conflicted, depending on the state. Some states have different minimum wages for tipped workers, while other states require normal minimum wage for tipped workers. If you're already making decent pay, is a tip really required?

[–]yorksargentsandwich 0 points1 point ago

It does depend on the state, but regardless, tips are a part of the server's income. Not agreeing with that fact doesn't change it. People who are unwilling or unable to tip should not eat out.

that looks like a dude's handwriting on the tip line.

but yeah that's bullshit.

The idea that being a single 'mom' is an excuse for anything is bullshit.

[–]uvaspina1 0 points1 point ago

Pretty sure I saw this one somewhere else. If its real, it's certainly a pretty bold and rotten thing to do. You would think a single mom would understand what it takes to wait on ungrateful people all day long.
