So, I was curious and looked up a list of known serial killers. There are certainly women on the list, but I think it's interesting that typically they are either killers of their children or family members, or that they are nurses who killed vulnerable (mentally ill, children, disabled) patients. Story time!

I'm a library employee and was on desk at the computer lab one day. A patron approaches the desk and tells me that there's a kid masturbating under his computer desk. A security guard was standing at the desk and overheard, walks over to the kid's computer and, sure enough, kid was whackin' away to some x-rated dating site. I disable the computer from my desk and the guard asks him to leave, which he does. Good question. I always presumed that he was afraid of doing it at work or home where he could be more easily found out. It wasn't in public as much as it was something the staff had knowledge of. If you weren't paying close attention to him, didn't have access to the computer he used, or didn't see him on a frequent basis you'd really have no idea what he was up to.

Also, for that matter, I think he felt some sort of immunity because while he was still in the greater metropolitan area that was "local" to him, he was essentially a town over. Given my status as a complete heathen, I only knew he was a local clergyman because another staff member told me. Otherwise I'd just have assumed he was one of the many creepy old fucks I encountered at that job.

Has anyone said anything to him about this, or notified his church?

What he was doing was creepy but not illegal. While most of the pictures I saw from his little collection were really uncomfortably creepy they weren't actually child pornography (that I saw, anyway).

Security cameras, a sharp eye I did sweeps of the building over the course of the night, occasionally he'd use the computer's hard drive as a intermediary storage while he organized and left some gems behind now and then.

The particular carousel he used the most was at an angle wherein he was, 90% of the time, completely concealed but depending on how he was sitting and where you were standing you could see what he was doing.

Depends if it's a public or university library. While some university libraries may have open access to the public, they can still have restrictions on viewing 'obscene content or pornography' that's not related to research.

The determination of what is obscene or pornographic is usually up to the people staffing the library, and while someone can always make the claim that what they're viewing is for research purposes, they rarely want to make an argument for their point when police involvement is mentioned.

edit: If this library is in America, the labels and bindings of the books lead me to believe this is an academic or university library. Universities and academic collections often use the Library of Congress Classification system due to the large size of their collections and the relatively short call numbers used by the LCC. The tiny labels on the spines are the correct size to hold such call numbers. Universities also use generic book binding covers/colors for periodicals that would normally not come bound in single volumes.

When I was in college, there was a guy who appeared to be in his late 60s in some of my lower level comp sci classes.
