If I remember from this being reposted with actual information, there is a kind of chemical small rodents emit when afraid or nervous that cats can home in on. Some laboratory bred a batch of said rodents to be incapable of synthesizing this chemical naturally, and when they were put before predatory cats, the cats in turn had absolutely no interest in the rodents.
