Goddamn, I hope my night ends with Waffle House.

[–]mimicthefrench 4 points5 points ago

Seriously, the only times I've ever enjoyed Waffle House have been at the end of crazy middle of the night adventures. Go there in the daytime? Ehh. Go there at midnight, after going to a concert, exploring a sketchy abandoned building, and wandering halfway across the city? Hell yeah.

I don't think I've ever been to a Waffle House during the day. It's a southern delicacy.

This was me, except Denny's.

It was weird seeing this in the movie after it had already become a popular gif on the net.

[–]ckuiper 3 points4 points ago

I just watched it so many times that I'm pretty sure it's not one continuous shot. But yeah, that movie was the tits.

Post this to r/trees.

This gif needs to linger on his face at the end for just a little longer and it'd be perfect.

[–]MaebaraKeiichi 3 points4 points ago

Oh god yes.

Sadly most of my friends share the "waffle house is gross mantra." So I often will just go alone, but that's ok, because Judy, my favorite waitress keeps the sweet tea and southern comfort flowing.

Denny's isn't bad in a pinch either.

I recently went to one of these near a hotel I was staying at (there seems to be either a Waffle House or a Denny's next to every single hotel in the Southern US). Being a vegetarian, I found my options quite limited, so I ordered a triple order of hash browns. It was a lot of hash browns. Luckily there were plenty of different sauces to try so it didn't get too boring. So there's my Waffle House story.

new england born and raised here, but i've been going to school in the south for a year and a half and the most valuable thing i've learned so far is the location of every waffle house and cookout in my area.

I'm the same way with steak and shake.

As someone who grew up outside of Atlanta, I spent many nights drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes at Waffle House. I've been in the Pacific Northwest for 4 years now, and I still can't find a place that can make a half-decent patty melt or hash-browns that I can order scatter, covered, and chunked. Beth's Cafe is the closest thing I could find, but that's a 3 hour drive north.

I love that movie

Kinda bugs me how his face doesn't line up after the zoom

As a northerner, Waffle Houses are gross. I won't go to one again. The food was nearly inedible, the staff were grody looking, you can smoke in some of them, and good lord the service was awful.

I'll stick to ihop.

[–]dabezian 4 points5 points ago

Southerner (not really, I just live in the South) here, Waffle House is the place of legend.

But there are bad joints. There are TWO Waffle Houses less than 5 minutes from where I live, probably about 500 feet apart. I think the reason for that is city lines or something (I'm right on the border, they are in two different suburbs), one of them is complete shit and I will never eat there again. The other one is heaven on earth.

[–]BraKes22 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, they have a tendency to be spotty. But once you find a good one, holy shit hold on, your taste buds are in for one great meal. Fuckin' scattered, smothered and chunked hash browns are amazing.

[–]fearlessly 0 points1 point ago

It's possible we just ended up at a grody one. There's three within a three-mile stretch on the "main drag" of our city.

Dunno. I just wasn't impressed with any aspect of waffle house. I shall keep my ihop for my pancake and waffle needs. :p

[–]ManBoyLuvHawt 0 points1 point ago

As a northerner as well, I can confirm this.

[–]poopraham 1 point2 points ago

You just listed all the reasons I love Waffle House. And the unlimited coffee.

[–]fearlessly 1 point2 points ago

I got really used to no smoking in restaurants and bars in WI...lol.

[–]poopraham 0 points1 point ago

Don't get me wrong, I hate being around smoke. It's all those little bad things that add up to create the atmosphere of a Waffle House that is really appealing to me.

Village Inn is much better than IHOP.

[–]fearlessly -1 points0 points ago

haven't seen one of those here yet. We're essentially on the georgia/florida border.

[–]Kelsig 0 points1 point ago

It's a primarily midwestern restaurant.

[–]fearlessly 0 points1 point ago

oh. Hm. I'm originally from SE wisconsin, and have never heard of it.

[–]Kelsig 0 points1 point ago

http://www.villageinn.com/locations/

I guess they just hate Wisconsin.

[–]persunx 0 points1 point ago

From Iowa here. VI is the ultimate 24 hour diner.

[–]psych7111 1 point2 points ago

I'm a steak 'n shake guy myself.

[–]lyanocoste 1 point2 points ago

What movie is this from??

[–]snapyobagels 12 points13 points ago

"Django Unchained."

[–]MikaelaBalls 11 points12 points ago

Ridiculously great movie. Unless you're Spike Lee.

[–]dabezian 3 points4 points ago

I just got back from seeing it a second time. God damn.

I can't see fuckin' shit outta this thing.

[–]MikaelaBalls 0 points1 point ago

NOT saying any names... but they could've been done better.

[–]CatFiggy 0 points1 point ago

I just got that after seeing this gif over and over. (I saw the movie last night.) But now I can't remember what's going on in the movie when he does this. Ah, well, I guess I'll have to see the movie again.

[–]snapyobagels 5 points6 points ago

This is the scene where Schultz and Django first approach Candie and he tells them "we got us a fight goin' on that's a good bit 'o fun."

[–]CatFiggy 1 point2 points ago

Aahh. I was in the bathroom when they first met him. I walked out to people climbing up stairs and back to one slave killing another really graphically.

Thanks. That was going to bug me.

[–]Khiraji 0 points1 point ago

I saw this spectacular film tonight. It was incredible. The scene with the bags had me laughing so hard I choked on my drink. Seriously hilarious shit, the hardest I've laughed at a movie in years.

Methinks this bot doesn't belong here. Don't want to waste the guy's time.
