"Just got these guys at staples" haha.

[–]weaverster 43 points44 points ago

Don't you know, Staples is totally stocking Mont Blanc pens

[–]foolishleader 7 points8 points ago

They do carry Mont Blanc roller ball refills

[–]furmat60 4 points5 points ago

"Found these gems and Staples guys!"

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points ago

That post is almost too old to be able to upvote it. We must act quickly.

[–]TheGreatGumbino 4 points5 points ago

I came here just to say repost. I feel like I have come full circle as a redditor

[–]uriman 33 points34 points ago

[–]alwayschoosepeace 0 points1 point ago

Best op chirp I've seen since the barnie kid upvote for you!

[–]kevintheimpaler 96 points97 points ago

Looks like a sonic screwdriver

[–]fap_socks 160 points161 points ago

[–]Metaphex 24 points25 points ago

It took me way too long to realize that this was photoshopped. Here I am thinking to myself "Wow, that's uncanny!"

[–]setrakakan 1 point2 points ago

I didn't even realize it was photoshopped until I read your comment.

[–]Th3-3M3n5tru4t0r 35 points36 points ago

That's not a nib, that's a knob.

[–]brajx 18 points19 points ago

It's a knob wearing a nib

[–]De_Angelo 0 points1 point ago

It's about time for a new one, too. The green one is cool and all, but if the new one looked like one of those pens, I'd be all over them.

[–]Karpuan 1 point2 points ago

My thoughts exactly

[–]bearwithchainsaw 37 points38 points ago

[–]that-chinese-guy 20 points21 points ago

I used to work for company that made and sold these: http://imgur.com/a/LcPro

They were also hand made.

[–]bearwithchainsaw 5 points6 points ago

I love the top pen!

[–]Ogroat 1 point2 points ago

Krone?

[–]iDoWonder -1 points0 points ago

rofl

[–]mauszozo 1 point2 points ago

What kind of tech is used to make those?

[–]pkbowen 0 points1 point ago

They make laser cutters that can cut a pattern as it rotates a tube on a mandrel. That would be my guess.

[–]that-chinese-guy 1 point2 points ago

Not sure about the first but the skull pen is first sculpted into a wax model and made into a mold. Hot liquid metal (pewter, silver, or gold) goes into the mold. After it dries it gets filed and polished into the final product. Fairly low tech i would say.

[–]Joedang100 0 points1 point ago

Is it even possible to post that skull pen?

[–]van_Zeller 3 points4 points ago

Almost as obligatory /r/steampunk

[–]HovarTM -1 points0 points ago

Also r/themightypen

[–]Polycystic 0 points1 point ago

Those are amazing. How much would one set me back?

[–]ForgottenPhoenix 28 points29 points ago

At $20,000 a piece, its more like a nuke to the wallet.

[–]trixter21992251 17 points18 points ago

In all fairness, you cannot kill that which is already dead.

[–]poots69 2 points3 points ago

What is dead may never die! It is known.

[–]FerociousAmoeba 2 points3 points ago

Well, with strange aeons even death may die...

[–]mak6453 0 points1 point ago

It is known.

[–]Userling 10 points11 points ago

If you are looking at Fountain pens, but you want a cheap one check out Lamy Safari Pens. They run about 25 dollars and write pretty decently

http://www.amazon.com/Lamy-Safari-Fountain-Pen-Charcoal/dp/B0002T401Y

[–]the_television 2 points3 points ago

the Wing Sung pens from isellpens.com are actually really good for $2.88/ ea

[–]fuck_off_ireland 2 points3 points ago

Everybody have fun tonight!

Everybody Wing Sung tonight!

[–]BILL_MURRAYS_COCK 1 point2 points ago

Can I buy these at a physical store that you know of?

[–]kaihatsusha 0 points1 point ago

Upscale malls will have a stationery store, or even a store dedicated to fine pens.

[–]cpuetz 0 points1 point ago

I've seen them in specialty stores. If you're by any chance is southeast WI, Daly's Pen Shop in downtown Milwaukee is a good bet. Any of the stores I've seen them in have been small local places.

[–]pkbowen 0 points1 point ago

My OfficeMax carries a couple of midrange ($40-50) options. I bought my first pen (a Parker Urban...pretty plain vanilla pen) there as part of a kit that had cartridges, a converter, and a bottle of ink. I would suggest going that route if you are looking to get into fountain pens because it lets you play with cartridges and converter filling.

[–]dysgraphical 0 points1 point ago

I got the Al-star with the extra fine nib. It's a cool ass fountain pen.

[–]furbysofgold 5 points6 points ago

Second from the left was definitely made on Gallifrey.

[–]Isuress 0 points1 point ago

The tears bro, the tears.

[–]OxfordTheCat 2 points3 points ago

Nicely done, but I have the same problem with these that I have with so many of the 'custom' fountain pens:

Who uses a fountain pen that has the circumference of a paper towel roll?

[–]mayonesa 1 point2 points ago

Bigger pens are easier for longer writing experiences.

[–]NewGirl_inTown89 13 points14 points ago

Where can I get these???

[–]haphsaph 54 points55 points ago

have $20,000

and a time machine, apparently, as they aren't on mont blanc's website anymore

[–]skubasteevo 19 points20 points ago

Good news, you can get them on ebay, no time machine required!

Still need $20,000 though ($21,500 to be exact).

[–]pew43 10 points11 points ago

$21,550 to be more exact. Shipping is 50 dollars. Which is crazy. I mean, you are already charging $21,500 for a pen. Why not just include shipping in your price.

[–]Sanitary_Lumpkin 18 points19 points ago

Because you're only making a profit of $1,500 and after 12 years that's not saying much. Plus, I'm sure that you're going to be insuring your shipment of an item worth $20,000.

[–]pew43 11 points12 points ago

I understand.

[–]Exedous 1 point2 points ago

Because fuck the police, that's why.

[–]brussels4breakfast 0 points1 point ago

Wow.

[–]pk_ 0 points1 point ago

It's probably ridiculous but these are all resin with a metalic finish. For the price of a camry a metal pen would seem appropriate. I know resin is a typical fountain pen material so what do I know. It also raises a red flag when people are selling crazy expensive items but spell like they are unloading oranges under an overpass. Lamboorginee Avetadoor $380K obo ; )

[–]skubasteevo 0 points1 point ago

You would think some entrepreneurial individual in China would be counterfeiting these by now at 1% of the price. Shit, I'd buy one.

[–]FeatherNET 1 point2 points ago

Oh cool, I have an uncle that lives near "MONTBLANC SKELETON 333 PEN!!!, United States".

[–]knightofmars 11 points12 points ago

That's completely reasonable for a pen.

[–]unemployedsellout 1 point2 points ago

First thought, "Would you care for some Grey Poupon"? Second, "Oh... sarcasm."

[–]_Connor[S] 2 points3 points ago

Haphsaph delivers!

[–]proscale 1 point2 points ago

Yup I have it, Now if I just find $20K..

[–]Xunae 1 point2 points ago

for 20k i think I'd be better off paying for lessons in the creation of something this beautiful.

[–]_Connor[S] 3 points4 points ago

I have to idea, but the one second from left is gorgeous. My favorite for sure.

[–]DiClaudio 1 point2 points ago

Caran d'Ache used to sell something very similar, but same price point. I'm not sure if they still do. There are plenty of people that hand make fountain pens at much less than $20k, and I'm sure you could find someone to commission. Then you're not paying for the label.

[–]hemenway_90 3 points4 points ago

At first I thought they were lightsaber hilts....

[–]Bauter 3 points4 points ago

I read that as "Hand Made Skeleton Fountain PenIS" I was confused.

[–]skirvy 0 points1 point ago

They look like something from BioShock.

[–]danneh02 2 points3 points ago

Very steam punk, I like the second from the left.

[–]emperic 2 points3 points ago

These pens again!!!

[–]FuckYouGod 1 point2 points ago

Damn this is a massive repost.

[–]mkaydm 2 points3 points ago

karma whoring is an art these days.

[–]witty_account_name 1 point2 points ago

It's nice until you break the nib and find out that it can't be replaced so you have to buy a new one

[–]cpuetz 1 point2 points ago

Is that really a probelem for you, I've used foutian pens for years and have never damaged a nib.

[–]Xarddrax 2 points3 points ago

Hand made... with machines.

[–]ShitVanFuckFace 5 points6 points ago

All of those look uncomfortable.

[–]weaverster 3 points4 points ago

You grip the metal part on the bottom, the skeleton part isn't really touched

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]corincole 2 points3 points ago

Read the name of the submission. Skeleton as in showing the insides, not as in designed like a human skeleton.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

What do you mean the skeleton though? I looked up "skeleton pen" to see what the wikipedia article had to say about them, but there was no entry.

[–]kaihatsusha -1 points0 points ago

A skeleton key is a key that has the barest minimum structure, to allow it to fit into the most locks; usually a single skeleton key can operate as a master key to a whole series of locks.

A skeleton crew is the minimum group of workers to keep a project or company running.

In this context, 'skeleton' just refers to a very open structure, with minimal yet artistic construction to show off the mechanisms inside.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

Those pends have a lot of gaudy decoration on them. They should be called chubby pens.

[–]Capitan_Amazing 1 point2 points ago

Do Want.

[–]Burf-_- 7 points8 points ago

now on user ignore... thanks RES

No reason not to ignore these reposting fucktards (account on day 0), and fuck your downvotes.

[–]lucid808 11 points12 points ago

You know, I downvoted you at first, thinking you're just being a dick. But then I looked at OPs submission history and saw the account has only been active 18 hours, has 34 submitted post as of now, and all are repost. Oh, and he's gotten over 6k link karma for this.

Reposting is fine every now and then, but when someone makes an account solely to repost everything they can just for karma, that's just...pathetic, and should not be encouraged. Changed downvote to upvote and ignored user as well.

[–]sjhill 2 points3 points ago

I was calling him on it last night, but this is just breathtaking asshattery.

I'm going to invent a method of beating people via the medium of the internet. It'll be fucking marvellous.

[–]mayonesa 1 point2 points ago

Point.

Click.

Insane sodomitic assault!

[–]Burf-_- 5 points6 points ago

well finally someone who investigates, thank you. They have at least three posts in the top 50 right now that are all fucking lame ass pic reposts. I would really like to strangle these fools.

[–]Peanut_Larry 3 points4 points ago

http://i.imgur.com/UbeDK.jpg

But seriously, if anyone knows where to get a hold of one of these...

[–]graffiksguru 6 points7 points ago

eBay, but you will need 21.5k... :(

[–]Peanut_Larry 1 point2 points ago

Beautiful but out of my price range :)

[–]Cash-Dro 0 points1 point ago

But 20.000 isn't?

[–]Peanut_Larry 1 point2 points ago

The extra $1500 would really break my bank.

[–]_Connor[S] 2 points3 points ago

Heres the link /u/haphsahp posted above. Apparently they were $20,000, but you can't get them anymore.

[–]Peanut_Larry 1 point2 points ago

Thanks! Too bad they aren't available anymore :(

[–]thedinnerdate 2 points3 points ago

I can't even remember the last time I had a pen boner this hard.

[–]Touringcar 2 points3 points ago

How tacky.

[–]ineffectiveprocedure 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, I don't get it. They're obviously well made, but good craftsmanship doesn't automatically equate to beauty. They're gaudy and look like someone trying to make something steampunk.

[–]TwinsBasilTwins 1 point2 points ago

Damn, those are badass. If I were good at cursive, I'd think about getting them...... Hell, I'd probably buy them just to have!!

[–]Truth_hungry 5 points6 points ago

I used to have really really bad handwriting. It looked like a kindergartner's writing crossed with cave drawings. It was incredibly embarrassing. Then my grandfather made me a fountain pen for my 16th birthday. You have to use a steady gentle pressure to keep the ink flowing correctly. As I learned to do that - my handwriting improved dramatically.

So consider buying a fountain pen. In addition to helping your handwriting- it's a distinctive conversation piece.

[–]brussels4breakfast 5 points6 points ago

Your grandfather knew what's up. My great-grandfather made me a clock. Hard to write with though.

[–]Truth_hungry 1 point2 points ago

I have to ask - do you eat in Brussels for breakfast or do you have brussels for breakfast?

[–]karimr 1 point2 points ago

Ansmer me one question, what do (or did) you write with usually when you don't use a fountain pen? Aren't they the standard pen used in schools in the US?

I don't write in cursive because it is still unreadable with a fountain pen, but hardly anyone at the school I go to (And all those I went to before) doesn't have a fountain pen, simply because they are the best to write with.

[–]Truth_hungry 1 point2 points ago

Aren't they the standard pen used in schools in the US?

Lol, no. Cheap Bic pens, mechanical pencils, and good old #2's are the norm here. I had never seen a fountain pen until I found my grandfather's old one. I don't know anyone else who uses one, but it may be that they're not as popular in my area - I don't exactly live in intellectual or professional area where good writing tools are essential.

[–]karimr 2 points3 points ago

Oh it is very different in my part of Europe then, fountain pens are basically the standard in schools.

I have been using one for the last 11 years now and some teachers would even explicitely ask us not to use ballpoint pens. Most people who don't have one already have a job or don't need to write much for another reason, or have something of comparable quality that they prefer over the fountain pen.

[–]mayonesa 0 points1 point ago

That's very civilized. It almost makes me want to go live in your undoubtedly socialist nation that has tiny bathrooms.

[–]karimr 1 point2 points ago

The tiny size is not limited to the bathrooms, compared to american houses ours are very small too. We always build them out of stone though, and with cellars.

Also: cars

[–]pkbowen 1 point2 points ago

I second this. I keep my lab notebooks in fountain pen, and they're works of art compared to anything I write in ballpoint. They also make nice diagrams after a little practice (though it will scratch up your nib if you use a metal ruler + 14k plated nib).

[–]hotnvicious5 2 points3 points ago

Supposedly, Fountain Pens make you better at cursive. Which is why I joined /r/fountainpens and bought a Lamy Vista.

[–]Flindodz 0 points1 point ago

Do want

[–]iamasociopath22 1 point2 points ago

I love fountain pens, they're so nice to write with.

[–]ryanskewl 0 points1 point ago

I can imagine the second from the left being able to turn and function with the gears. Or maybe a time piece in it.

[–]MT_Flesch 0 points1 point ago

at 5500 a pop, you better be signing my checks with that

[–]CallMeMrTips 0 points1 point ago

Would go back to school if i could use one of them

[–]patmcdoughnut 1 point2 points ago

I thought they were elder scrolls...

[–]Strusseldorf 0 points1 point ago

Can I just say that the first things I saw in those were elder scrolls.

[–]addsomezest 0 points1 point ago

Point me to a website so I can throw money at you. I love those and I want one.

[–]Eatery 0 points1 point ago

I don't know much about these, I'll have my buddy stop in to take a look at them. He's an expert in handmade skeleton fountain pens.

[–]randomDCredditor 0 points1 point ago

i feel as though my handwriting is not be exquisite enough for such a pen...

[–]brussels4breakfast 0 points1 point ago

I have nice handwriting but the only things I write these days are reminders to myself. Post computer when I wrote letters to friends and family I loved to write. I am still a pen 'freak' and am always looking for a nice writing pen.

[–]Cats2011 0 points1 point ago

NICE!

[–]Iworkonspace 0 points1 point ago

I wish I wrote stuff =/.

Maybe once I [you know what goes here], you can get me a really nice pen for writing [youknowwhats] :)

[–]CallMeMattF 0 points1 point ago

You spelled "porn" wrong.

[–]Zero147 0 points1 point ago

3D printing can't come fast enough...

[–]brussels4breakfast 0 points1 point ago

I've seen these before and yes, they are amazing. A long time ago when I was looking online for a really nice pen (pen freak), I came across a solid gold pen that belonged to some Arab sheik. The cost of the pen was in the millions. No, I didn't buy it. Lol.

[–]Dave80 0 points1 point ago

If you could have one of those six, which would it be?

Second left for me!

[–]Abaddon3567 0 points1 point ago

Where can I find these epic pens?

[–]Ogroat 0 points1 point ago

Mont Blanc makes one every year, I believe. They're made of precious materials and even then marked up far beyond what 99.999% of the world can afford. Consider that the 'regular' Mont Blanc fountain pens cost ~$1000.

[–]EvilSockPuppet 0 points1 point ago

It's pens like this that make me wish my handwriting weren't shit. I wish I could justify the use of a fancy pen.

[–]big_chey 0 points1 point ago

Whoever made these should design one to look like the sonic screwdriver

[–]chainsawmurderingaxe 0 points1 point ago

I ABSOLUTELY NEED ONE.

[–]big_chey 1 point2 points ago

Looks like the Elder Scrolls

[–]talljayswede 0 points1 point ago

Looks like something a jedi would write a letter with.

[–]xiaowudao 1 point2 points ago

did anyone else think they were looking at lightsaber hilts at first glance? either way, AWESOME.

[–]Deathly-Hallows 1 point2 points ago

I thought they were sonic screwdrivers at first

[–]Zactacular 1 point2 points ago

just clicked the thumbnail before I read the link.... I thought they were lightsabers :(

[–]Stroggcake 1 point2 points ago

I love fountain pens so much. Even if this is a re-post. I need something like this in my life. No doubt they'd all be way way out of my budget though.

[–]jtt123 0 points1 point ago

Hand crafted by CNC

[–]LettersFromTheSky 0 points1 point ago

They have a steam punk look to them.

[–]candyman888 0 points1 point ago

I thought these were elder scrolls.

[–]BitterBleu 0 points1 point ago

I own one too, but not at the level of this craftsmanship. The nib is also hard and doesn't give the calligraphy that I want

[–]Magnum_ 0 points1 point ago

Fountain pens that double as dildos.

[–]jpzredditacc 1 point2 points ago

some of the most beautiful lightsabers i have seen. i wonder what is colour is their light?

[–]Rohan21166 1 point2 points ago

I came.

[–]ThatFunnyWhiteGirl 0 points1 point ago

And yet they have no spy gadgets implanted in them... Not interested.

[–]Xenocerebral 0 points1 point ago

A fountain pen is mightier than the light sabre, especially if it is both.

[–]acrimony87 0 points1 point ago

Well, it appears I will be heading over to Staples sometime tomorrow afternoon. Those are awesome.

[–]mikeburke20 1 point2 points ago

God, I love a good pen!

[–]llcbdavis 0 points1 point ago

beautiful. i so admire people who can make beautiful things.

[–]EmilioEstavez 0 points1 point ago

kinda bulky

[–]blolfighter 0 points1 point ago

Second from the left has a cog motif, which makes it the best.

[–]Marine_Baby 0 points1 point ago

I havnt seen this before, so thanks for showing me something nice OP :)

[–]Natten 0 points1 point ago

I would love to make these into a sonic screwdriver

[–]Kriicz 0 points1 point ago

Second one, I want it.

[–]scybes 0 points1 point ago

Could you use a 3D printer to make copies of these wonderful pens?

[–]MsDovahkiin 0 points1 point ago

Whomever made these, should make a sonic screwdriver!

[–]Milesaboveu 0 points1 point ago

The gold one alone is $88.888.88 on ebay apparently.

[–]Joshyboy401 0 points1 point ago

Not as clumsy or as random as a pencil, but a more elegant writing utensil for a more civilized age.

[–]megablahblah 0 points1 point ago

"OMG, those are absolutely beautiful."

[–]jsalperstein 0 points1 point ago

....more like aristocratic luxury writing utensil

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]Prospec7 0 points1 point ago

what about those exactly is steampunk?

[–]PopularPulp 0 points1 point ago

If you don't know what steampunk is, its okay, just take a look at the second pen from the left. You might know what steampunk is now.

[–]nebula27 0 points1 point ago

I remember using cheap Shaeffer fountain pens in Middle school.

[–]DextrosKnight 0 points1 point ago

That one with the gears on it, if I were a pen, I'd fuck it.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

[–]HerrL1ch 1 point2 points ago

steampunk lookalike i like!

[–]iamanurse327 0 points1 point ago

These look like a pen The Doctor would use!

[–]bcimkllktht 0 points1 point ago

I would write the shit outta those

[–]lsketch 0 points1 point ago

This is my ultimate life goal. Have a nice job, a nice house, a nice family, and a fountain pen.

[–]I_Ate_Your_Shoe 0 points1 point ago

Are they sonic?

[–]Cacoo 0 points1 point ago

the guys at /r/PenmanshipPorn would have a field day with them. this is one post that caught my eye when it was submitted: http://redd.it/zt0w4

[–]Dr_Octagonapus1 0 points1 point ago

They remind me of a steam punk sonic screwdriver

[–]tenderheartstl 0 points1 point ago

Beautiful craftsmanship

[–]Mattbull 0 points1 point ago

They look like they could be Sonic screwdrivers

[–]Dacountry 0 points1 point ago

DO WANT!!!!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

I might consider a week's salary for an pen but three months is excessive.

[–]CaptClarenceOveur 0 points1 point ago

So, um, how much would one of those bad boys cost me?

[–]Iampossiblyatwork 0 points1 point ago

This is this guy's like 4th repost today.

[–]FedoraLa 0 points1 point ago

Patrick Bateman has these....

[–]ChemicalA 0 points1 point ago

Wheeerreee do we spend out money for this?

[–]erodoeht84 1 point2 points ago

so baller. very similar to a few montegrappa pens i really like the designs of unfortunately never going to be in my price range lol

[–]kimchi11 0 points1 point ago

Thirteen Ghosts

[–]witless9999 0 points1 point ago

I will give you fifty pounds for one of any description

[–]Ajax451 0 points1 point ago

The sound I made when I saw these was not human.

[–]LDYKGODLA 0 points1 point ago

Fountain Penis.

[–]Zoso525 0 points1 point ago

These look like Mont-Blanc pens, though they could be knock-offs. Some knock-offs are cheap and shitty, others are pretty well crafted.

I used to work in one of their retail stores. Authentic Mont Blanc pens range from $180 - $1,000, they also sell things like wallets, computer bags, jewelry, etc. for up towards $5-7,000. There are signature pens that can cost much more, as you can see from the e-bay post, depending on the stones and gems attached to them.

They are primarily status symbols, some people keep them on their desk to sign checks, some just have them as trophy's.

[–]frozenvanillacoke 1 point2 points ago

Oh the woes of being left-handed.

[–]Macabilly 1 point2 points ago

Shut up and take my money

[–]IReallyLikeAsherRoth 1 point2 points ago

Sorry had to reattach my jaw.

[–]kamoh -1 points0 points ago

Wow, nice. If I was rich, I would still not buy these.

[–]bdm105 0 points1 point ago

they're all limited edition mont blancs. i'm pretty sure there are about 500 or less of each design and the whole set there is easily worth $100,000+

hey cool its my cake day

[–]brussels4breakfast 1 point2 points ago

Happy cake day! I once had a pen that George Bush, Sr. used when he signed a document. My ex husband used to work at the White House as an elevator mechanic and someone gave him the pen. Wish I still had it because it had Bush's name on it in gold.

[–]kadno -1 points0 points ago

I was disappointed by the lack of skeletons...

[–]davebees -1 points0 points ago

so garish! eugh
