I have this. It doesn't cause any problems or hurt. I believe mine was caused by sucking and biting my tongue whilst sleeping, for my whole life. If you look down the left and right sides of the tongue, it almost looks flattened at the edges. On my tongue they seem to line up with my teeth.

now THAT is fucking disgusting. A friend of mine made out with a chick during a night of partying. (in Germany, Munich more precisely but it really doesn't matter) and the next couple of days his tongue looked like that... but with some lesions on it. Never figured out what it was, it went away after a week. The hanging comment was "I can still taste her spit in my mouth..."
