One of the last times this was posted, it was explained that in this particular country (was it Honduras, maybe?), this was a tradition. Lots of redditors from that country chimed in and said this was totally normal...pushing the birthday kid's face into the cake.

        I remember going to birthday parties when I was younger, the parents would actually buy two cakes. One for the faceplant, and one for guests to actually eat afterwards.

              They did it to me when I lived in Bolivia. Since I'm from Canada, my friend helpfully explained that I should take my glasses off before the cake comes out because after I blow out the candles they'll push my face into it. Then... they did. I knew that my parents would never let me, so when they pulled out that Power Ranger's cake, I knew it was my moment, and I went for it.                           I'm Hispanic and this happens every time at birthday parties especially for kids. And once I've seen a kid cry cause the cake went up her nose. Other than that it's pretty fun.
