Reddit is a whole different animal when you pull away from all the mainstream, repost, and pun infested subreddits.

The smaller, active ones have the best content and quality.

I unsubscribed from every subreddit, and spent a few hours going through all of the subreddits available, and made my own, thorough list.

actually I do like a small dose of the fluff content to balance out all of the 'hard' subreddits. I subscribe to things like r/gifs and r/reactiongifs even if I've unsubscribed to /funny and r/aww, just to add a bit of levity to a list otherwise dominated by subs like r/truereddit and r/insightfulquestions. Personal favorites in terms of a nice balance of substance and humor are r/casualiama and r/nottheonion though.

Yes, but there are exceptions. E.g. things that match to categories, and therefore are interesting because they match that second category that is not /r/aww.

It will never work.

As much of a hivemind this place seems to be at times, it's just too much volume with too many time zones, theres no plausible system to put in place to get everyone on the same page.

Also, the fact that no one gives a rats ass about what they are posting, really. Who runs their stuff through KarmaDecay before posting? A small percentage of submitters? All people really care about is how much karma they can net off a post.

Women take their clothes off for it. People do entire projects with pictures for it. Photos of dead relatives submitted. All for well, nothing, really.

Fictional internet points make this world go round.

And when looking at it from an abstract point of view..

It also doesn't change the fact that it is a cross post just because some people are subbed to the specific subreddit.

If I take something from /r/pics and post it to /r/funny it is still a cross post even if I'm not subbed to either of those.
