[–]raging_asshole 10 points11 points ago

I dunno how the hell he can take it, though.

About 30 seconds of that and I start getting pins and needles in my arms.

...

I'm probably in for a heart attack. :(

[–]Kr0nos 12 points13 points ago

Someone built that bike for a T-Rex as a joke. People disgust me.

[–]LonelySlipper 13 points14 points ago

He is just trying to dry his armpits.

[–]laughingalto 7 points8 points ago

Worst ape hangers I've ever seen.

[–]ari0711 3 points4 points ago

That can't possibly be safe

With great disregard for the safety of yourself and others.

Hoping not to die.

[–]overweightanorexic 1 point2 points ago

You know, If Spongebob didn't live under the sea, he'd probably ride a motorcycle like that.

[–]fatbatgirl 1 point2 points ago

Go go gadget arms

[–]snackar 0 points1 point ago

This pic always reminds me of Biker Mice from Mars.

[–]juicypineapplez3 0 points1 point ago

Vinnie?

[–]theSHHAS -1 points0 points ago

WEEEEEEEEEE!!!

[–]Nihhrt 2 points3 points ago

"And then the third little biker said weeeeeeee all the way home!"

[–]23McGee 0 points1 point ago

Look at where his foot is, too. He's barely balanced on that thing. Go over one of those ridged bridges and his ass will be flipped right off. Unsafe at any speed.

[–]thisreally 0 points1 point ago

They should call them "Pit Bars".

[–]readabook69 0 points1 point ago

I wave my hands up in the air sometimes saying what.the.fuck?

[–]claytor024 0 points1 point ago

Its so he can do pull ups as he rides, duh

[–]hillbull 1 point2 points ago

And that's why they call them "ape hangers"

[–]ulalumae 0 points1 point ago

Pretty easily when you are a huge douche.

[–]Freshenstein 0 points1 point ago

Next season on Sons of Anarchy...shit gets REAL...

[–]uni_inventar -1 points0 points ago

Also, Why the fuck do you ride this?

[–]MennisD 1 point2 points ago

[–]keyboardjock -1 points0 points ago

[–]tlynass 0 points1 point ago

I thought I recognized this. It's a mock-up of Wario's bike. Edited or not, that's pretty awesome. http://super-smash-bros.wikia.com/wiki/Wario_Bike

[–]M0RB1D -1 points0 points ago

Ummmmm. Not the brightest bulb on the tree are we?

[–]Naedlus 0 points1 point ago

I bet his arms are numb after a ten minute ride... I'd hate to know what they feel like after a multi-state ride...

[–]DevilsCandyCane 0 points1 point ago

Victoriously. That's how you ride it. Like a permanent double fist-pump, accessorised with a shit-eating grin, and a mighty war cry of 'FUCK YEAAHHHH!'

Until you try to steer, and then you die.

[–]joyco66 0 points1 point ago

ah, a Darwin bike. nice.

[–]POPtheGLOCK 0 points1 point ago

Its a douche bag thing... you wouldn't understand. Neither do I

[–]WisdomTooth8 1 point2 points ago

[–]MenosDaBear 0 points1 point ago

someone needs to shop out the bike so this guy can see the ridiculous position he is in.

[–]HipposRDangerous 0 points1 point ago

By yelling 'weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!'as you drive.

[–]IvanPistoff 0 points1 point ago

The irony is that man is doing that because he thinks it makes him look cool. The rest of us are thinking he looks like he's riding gynecological exam chair.

[–]YouthD 1 point2 points ago

Any handles above your shoulders I believe is illegal in most states.

[–]tagard04 0 points1 point ago

Like a total douchebag...

[–]jt25151 0 points1 point ago

With an extremely small penis.

[–]MaxFrenzy 0 points1 point ago

As someone who rides, I never understood the fascination with ape hangers. It seems horribly annoying and uncomfortable to ride. Can someone explain the affinity that some people have towards them? I could see if it was really cool looking or productive in some other way. For example, women wear high heels because of their appearance and height boost, but sacrifice their comfort for those things. Ape hangers don't seem to do anything useful appearance or functionality wise.. Is it just a nod to the 'old school' fans?

[–]savanner 0 points1 point ago

Man with the world's smallest penis. Way to go douche bag.

[–]SailorVanIndium 0 points1 point ago

Uncomfortably, of course.

[–]SLTSTL 0 points1 point ago

That guy lives out by me. You see him at the biker bar every once in a while out in Defiance with all the other biker d-bags nutting over it.

[–]nomzillasaurus 0 points1 point ago

Like that

[–]OiDafuqiO 0 points1 point ago

Lat pull downs

[–]badjer1983 0 points1 point ago

Oh to be a cop for just a day! I'd dick with that guy for sooooo long, write soooo many tickets, and then make him come into the station to show he took those damn stupid things off. Mu Ha HA Ha ha haaaa!

[–]Mr_yourboss 0 points1 point ago

First, you must have a tiny penis. Then amd only then, will you know how to ride it

[–]wafedo -2 points-1 points ago

Woah there Buzz Killington, not everyone spends all day every day all year every year on Reddit like you do.

[–]wafedo 0 points1 point ago

I just remember seeing this picture quite literally years ago, that's all. Surprised it hasn't died yet.

[–]irpah 0 points1 point ago

fee fi fo fum, I smell the smell of a biker scum who just stole my chopper

[–]kmad86 1 point2 points ago

That photo has to be quad core i7 powered.

[–]knobcheez 0 points1 point ago

Actually Gorilla Bars (thats what they are called by bikers) are very comfortable. All you have to do is slightly grip the handlebars and let your arms hang. Much more comfortable than one would think

[–]bikersquid 0 points1 point ago

maybe but it handles like shit, and is therefore dangerous is what people are saying

[–]Mikebx 0 points1 point ago

There is a difference between ape hangers at shoulder height(which in Ohio hands above shoulders is illegal) and these stupid things. I have ape hangers on my Harley right at shoulder level. I did have them a couple inches above at one time and it would make your hands fall asleep on long rides.

[–]MisterDuality -1 points0 points ago

The most puzzling thing about this photo is that he's riding a Suzuki Boulevard, usually this sort of self indulgent douchbaggery is reserved for Harley owners.

[–]NotTooOldForThis 0 points1 point ago

Suzukis don't have exposed primaries like the one in the pic, look again....

[–]MisterDuality 0 points1 point ago

Sorry, the gauge cluster threw me off.

[–]NotTooOldForThis 0 points1 point ago

I hear ya, at any rate it's a douche mobile

[–]BobbyHuynh -2 points-1 points ago

Fake!

[–]novanurselisa 0 points1 point ago

Not fake. I live in MO an ride too. This dude is at a fair amount of bike shows/rallies. I don't get it either, but to each their own.

[–]andrewkocak -2 points-1 points ago

[–]Attendant -4 points-3 points ago

Should be illegal. Talk about a hazard...for everyone.

[–]axisofelvis 2 points3 points ago

What fucking hazard? I'm so sick of hearing "should be a law" or "should be illegal". You don't need mommy government to protect you from every thing you disagree with!!!!

[–]Attendant 0 points1 point ago

The hazard is the he doesn't have full, natural, comfortable control over his bike. There's simply no comparison between the maneuverability of a bike like this in a challenging reflexive situation to a standard motorcycle, period. That's an increased hazard to not just himself, but others on the road. The same goes for people who drive with their dogs on their lap.

If people like these want to increase risk in their own lives, ok, fine. But we have to drive along side them, or behind them, or in the coming direction of them. And to have my own risk increased because some guy is struggling for "look at me!!" attention, or because somebody can't pay 100% full attention to their driving because they are willfully emotionally and reflexively distracted coddling their pet, is bullshit. It's unnecessary additional risk.

Be "so sick of hearing" it and throw a short-sighted hissy brat-tantrum all you want. The reality of it is that it's increased risk on the road, and you're blind and/or ignorant to insist otherwise. Risk your life, not everyone else's.

Edit: ipad spelling auto-correction sucks.

[–]axisofelvis 0 points1 point ago

I'd like to review your references on the safety of riding in this fashion. Could you point me to the source?

edit: after searching a bit for some solid evidence of why this practice is bad all I could find is this;

"We were unable to find any unequivocal information or scientific studies that establish a context for either Connecticut's handlebar height standard or for the relationship between handlebar height and accident experience. " http://www.cga.ct.gov/2006/rpt/2006-R-0537.htm
