Hmmm... I'm in a huge cave of ice, let me look closely with this huge torch.

[–]Coady_L 32 points33 points ago

Look at the pristine clarity of the ice formed over generations... oh, except for that huge soot spot

[–]Arturrono 8 points9 points ago

Lets see what happens when I melt the ceiling! I bet it won't collapse...

[–]DrSusset 4 points5 points ago

that looks like a flare torch, I don't know if they emit high heat though

[–]GrandmaBogus 18 points19 points ago

fire is usually hot.

[–]weaver2109 1 point2 points ago

I don't know what this is from, but every time I see it it reminds me of Bill Nye's "Did you know that..." segments.

[–]r4r4me 2 points3 points ago

[–]DrSusset -1 points0 points ago

flares aren't fire T_T

[–]Rauol_Duke 0 points1 point ago

Well to be fair, Eskimos can light fires in their igloos.

[–]come_on_seth 19 points20 points ago

Looks like the inside of dragon's mouth. Its uvula is aglow.

[–]dracoleo 8 points9 points ago

Really? I am now convinced I can never get an original comment on Reddit :)

[–]come_on_seth 1 point2 points ago

Not at all, been there myself. Timing, luck...keep trying. BTW, were going to say 'uvula is aglow' also?

[–]dracoleo 2 points3 points ago

No ... just to use uvula.

[–]come_on_seth 1 point2 points ago

Open wide and say AaHhhhhhh

[–]MrConfucius 2 points3 points ago

Not the first time I've said that.

[–]come_on_seth 1 point2 points ago

Well now you are either bragging, rubbing it in or some combination...

BTW, keep up the good work

[–]MrConfucius 1 point2 points ago

Or just rollin with a joke!

And you too, keep on keepin' on.

[–]done_holding_back 1 point2 points ago

I was going to say something about "the dragon's gullet".

[–]juicemack3 5 points6 points ago

Dat uvula

[–]Socky_McPuppet 1 point2 points ago

Its uvula is aglow.

I wonder if this sentence has even been written before in the history of the English language ...

[–]come_on_seth 0 points1 point ago

I would like to thank the academy, my grade school English teachers, college anatomy professor and most of all Socky McPuppet for this nomination.

This is a nice photo, but unfortunately not the first time I see it: http://www.reddit.com/r/EarthPorn/comments/vc9bh/an_amazing_glacial_cave_in_alaska_1200x872/

It has been reposted regularly. It was also in the album of amazing pictures from 2012, which was also posted to Reddit at least once, and can be found here.

[–]Forkler -4 points-3 points ago

Was just thinking, I haven't seen a repost of this in a couple weeks. It's about due.

Fact of the matter guys, people sit with these images on their harddrives, look at karma decay to see if it has been a sufficient amount of time since the last time it had been posted, and post it to whore karma. It's pretty freaking sad if you ask me.

grammar edit

[–]Borgismorgue 3 points4 points ago

I've realized that I dont even mind reposts anymore.

Seeing something interesting again isnt that bad after you've seen 4 years worth of shit. Some stuff I hardly remember so its a nice refersher.

Just picking. ;)

[–]Lurkerage 2 points3 points ago

Did he find the iron boots in the cave?

[–]DoubleHoeSeven 2 points3 points ago

Thought this looked like a giant ice mouth with a fire uvula.

[–]RevantRed 7 points8 points ago

This is what I imagine the inside of Kristen Stewarts vagina looks like.

[–]Just_another_man 3 points4 points ago

Ooh that was a very brave, unique, and witty point you made.

[–]RevantRed 0 points1 point ago

Thanks! I thought so too!

[–]bilboballbagins77 1 point2 points ago

Looks like a whales throat!

[–]Onlysilverworks 1 point2 points ago

What tool is lighting fire in an ice cave?

[–]Borgismorgue 0 points1 point ago

Video games have taught me that that cave will now instantly melt.

Thanks a lot torch-guy.

[–]fishwithfeet 1 point2 points ago

You can also see ice caves like this in Washington State.

Big Four Ice Caves

[–]Ghooble 1 point2 points ago

Indeed. People lately are posting all these links towards WA and it's finally giving me a little pride in the state. Like "yeah, I've been there. No big deal" then I flip out a comb and some grease and pull my hair back.

[–]aaronkz 0 points1 point ago

Went here at night on a weeknight. It was deserted so we ignored all signs and common sense and went inside the cave. Totally worth it.

[–]Lalli-Oni 0 points1 point ago

and Iceland.

[–]GeneraIDisarray -1 points0 points ago

Repost in reddit/r/pics, near r/funny.

[–]CleanBaldy 0 points1 point ago

I would love to pan for gold there. I bet that water run off into that gravel would yield lots of good volcanic treasures! Does it meet another stream somewhere, because that's the spot!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

So, from what I understand (and I could be COMPLETELY wrong here), the texture of the ice there is formed when there's quite a bit of high velocity water flowing through there and rocks chip away at the sides...

I wouldn't want to stand there...

[–]dream_green 1 point2 points ago

This looks like a place you would find your spirit animal.

[–]YOLO_HASHTAG_SWAG 1 point2 points ago

Exploring an ice cave near the most active volcano in Kamchatka with an open flame. That looks like a ton of fun actually.

[–]throwaway-o 0 points1 point ago

What's that episode of Voyager? I swear I never saw Neelix go into an ice cave.

[–]1leggeddog 0 points1 point ago

There are volcanoes in russia?

wiki

Wow. there are a crap ton but they are all along the "ring of fire" in the pacific, minus a few on the mainland.

[–]-PAVY- 1 point2 points ago

Complementary Color scheme guys, blue and orange ;)

[–]strith 0 points1 point ago

It's the battlefield 3 of ice caves.

[–]Strange1130 0 points1 point ago

anyone else think of this guy?

[–]Wants_to_be_accepted 0 points1 point ago

Hurry up global warming, I'm sick of this repost.

[–]britmw226 0 points1 point ago

Woah

[–]mars262 0 points1 point ago

[–]ND33D 0 points1 point ago

I want to recreate this in Minecraft, and then watch it melt.

[–]Dr-Sommer 1 point2 points ago

This TOTALLY reminds me of a Scrooge McDuck Comic from Don Rosa. To get to his hidden valley where he eventually finds his huge gold nugget, he has to go through a very similar cave. Cool thing this exists!

Edit: found it! It's as if Don has been there for real...

[–]houtx 0 points1 point ago

Is that Dovahkiin?

[–]craigsproof 0 points1 point ago

The best way to illuminate the ice cave is with a big fucking flame.

[–]jimthedestroyer 0 points1 point ago

Does anyone know how the ice forms like that?

[–]Retardeted 0 points1 point ago

On the side it says, "Lindsey Stirling was here."

[–]onetonnesoup 0 points1 point ago

Reminds me of that Gaviscon advert.

[–]BreakinBadass 0 points1 point ago

why the fuck do we let this get reposted every other month. really...

[–]shizzyyyyy 0 points1 point ago

This scares me more than it should because of the X-Files movie.

[–]waxmycrax 0 points1 point ago

Should be used in game of thrones as the tunnel through the wall

[–]autobotguy 0 points1 point ago

What a magical place and great color composition on the pic. And yes hilarious fire and ice... with man being under ice :P

[–]burstonyamom 0 points1 point ago

Bear Grills told me that those can be slippy and hazardous, so I don't venture into them.

[–]Creeper_Face 0 points1 point ago

Am I gonna have to be the one to say that the walls look like boobs?

[–]brandontoms 0 points1 point ago

If I had a nickel for every time this picture was posted on Reddit, I'd have a shitload of nickels.

[–]whoseclinton 0 points1 point ago

Hey man, nice repost

[–]langer44 0 points1 point ago

this is so cool looking, would love to go see something like this one day

[–]Stall0ne 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, light a fire in a fucking ice cave Einstein.. what's the worst that can happen?

[–]SimilarImage 0 points1 point ago

[–]fleebworks 0 points1 point ago

My wife asked if this was the throat of a whale. I am not even kidding.
