I fucking love Mondays, I work weekends and get Monday off, BEER TIME!!!!!!

[–]viciousbreed 5 points6 points ago

I'm glad it's Monday tomorrow. I hate weekends, because retail. Monday means (in addition to irritating returns) that I get to catch up with all the stuff I couldn't do all weekend.

[–]weaverfever69 -2 points-1 points ago

I get every other Monday off from school because I'm a senior in high school and only need two classes to graduate. Tomorrow just happens to be one of the days I get off. YAY! :D

[–]ShroudIII -1 points0 points ago

I work the weekends, sooo... yeah.

[–]imAlexx -1 points0 points ago

Do i upvote that or downvote.

[–]fretsurfer12 73 points74 points ago

The first 5 days after the weekend are always the worst.

[–]RichieRich0545 48 points49 points ago

Who the fuck decided our society should work 5 days in a row and rest two!? I'm glad they are dead.

[–]hollywoodbob 33 points34 points ago

Used to be more. Used to be people would work every day, no weekends, no breaks, no benefits, just "work until you die and fuck you for not being born rich." Now we're a little better off, maybe in a few more generations society will have figured out how to provide for everyone so we can work a couple days a week and lounge around the rest.

[–]appogiatura 24 points25 points ago

Anybody remember that article on Reddit a while back on how working 4 days is much more efficient than working 5 days?

Well this needs to happen.

[–]Sentient_Waffle 22 points23 points ago

Isn't that how it always is? People might work for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, but they dont work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. If you catch my drift.

[–]ep-w2012 8 points9 points ago

Working hard or hardly working, am I right?

[–]finnthehuman11 0 points1 point ago

A new hire to any job will hear this phrase at least three times from everyone in the workplace when they first start. It's worse as an intern. You want to just gouge out someone's eyes when they say it. They think they are so fucking cute.

[–]skyman724 4 points5 points ago

Almost all of Reddit knows your drift. To continue the metaphor, you could say they're in the car right now.

[–]Chocolate_bukkake 6 points7 points ago

My last job was like this. We'd work 10 hours a day, 4 days a week, but we'd get so much done. Think it has something to do with knowing you have a nice 3 day weekend ahead of you.

My current job has me working 10 hours a day, 5 days a week and as I get closer to the end of the week, the quality of my work degrades rather quickly.

[–]-Saymyname 1 point2 points ago

Didn't see this - any chance of a link?

[–]syntaxspam 4 points5 points ago

I'd argue we're already there, but that we always crave more. If we were happy with the same level of consumption that we had in the 1950s but had the same level of automation as today that we'd be working 10-20 hours a week.

[–]Vox_Imperatoris 1 point2 points ago

This is not true. Most people didn't work on Sunday.

However, they worked a lot more than 8 hours on the other days.

[–]Hovesh 1 point2 points ago

The work week for my full time job is 3-12 hour days. So I have a 4 day weekend. I do, however, have 4 jobs and work all but 3-4 days a month. Fun times, fun... fun times.

[–]ShitsAndGigglesSake 15 points16 points ago

Dat aspect ratio.

[–]humanoiid 10 points11 points ago

..is too damn high?

[–]rockincooldude 12 points13 points ago

Christ I read that originally as "Woke up realizing today was Monday". I had a mini heart attack.

[–]TheMurican 9 points10 points ago

Why is it that Friday is so close to Monday, but Monday so far from Friday?

[–]danmod1 5 points6 points ago

The government.

[–]MellowMilo 18 points19 points ago

If only this guy was our president

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points ago

Yep. If only everything can be the awesome college schedule, go to class at 9 and 2 every other day.

[–]Girofalcon 10 points11 points ago

I want to be a full time student when I grow up. Where do I register?

[–]JacDG 4 points5 points ago

Let me know if you figure something out, first semester at college right now, and I want this to me the rest of my life, awesome all around. I love school.

[–]gcline33 3 points4 points ago

go for your phd

[–]Gordondel 1 point2 points ago

Yeah working on a phd is really laid back and not the biggest amount of work you'll ever have at all!

[–]StupidtheElf 1 point2 points ago

I work 4 days a week, usually 4-6 hours a day in the afternoon. But I'm poor, so there's that.

[–]KillerBeans81 7 points8 points ago

81 x 7 neff!

[–]FullMoon1108 3 points4 points ago

Everyone should have wednesday off

[–]AOEUD 3 points4 points ago

There is no reason 5 day weeks have to still exist. As a society we are sufficiently productive that we could meet everyone's needs working only a small fraction of what we do now.

Wait a minute... Both productivity (maximized with 4 hour days, in fact) and hourly wages (due to decreased supply) would go up if we slashed our hours! Health and happiness would also improve, not only due to decreased stress but also increased exercise! 16 hour work week! IMPLEMENT THAT SHIT! (Can't be sudden, though, or the decrease in output would cause a major depression.)

[–]Zeis 6 points7 points ago

I believe there is a town somewhere in either Germany or America - I forgot - which tests new products, does market research on a large scale. Scientists (in the broadest term) also like to test out some stuff there.

Anyway. There was a test being done where everyone's work schedual was switched from 5 days 9-5, 2 days weekend to 4 days 9-8, 3 days weekend.

Everyone apparently loved it, stress was reduced, people were more relaxed, especially families loved it and I think people bought more stuff. They didn't want to change back after the test was done. I can't for the life of me find the article though...

[–]Setari 14 points15 points ago

This is funny to me because my work weeks end on Thursday (We get paid on Thursday and that's what the schedules look like on paper too) and usually I end up thinking that Monday is Friday. Then I go to work on Tuesday and get all confused.

[–]pockets817 82 points83 points ago

Even I got confused by what you just said.

[–]michaelswaim 4 points5 points ago

She/He means -

This lawn supervisor was out on a sprinkler maintenance job and he started working on a Findlay sprinkler head with a Langstrom 7″ gangly wrench. Just then, this little apprentice leaned over and said, “You can’t work on a Findlay sprinkler head with a Langstrom 7″ wrench.” Well this infuriated the supervisor, so he went and got Volume 14 of the Kinsley manual, and he reads to him and says, “The Langstrom 7″ wrench can be used with the Findlay sprocket.” Just then, the little apprentice leaned over and said, “It says sprocket not socket!

[–]wandering_tourist 2 points3 points ago

Thanks for clearing that up! :)

This week I have classes only on Wednesday. I still think it's too much.

[–]Person_On_The_Web 3 points4 points ago

I say we extend weekends to include Mondays.

[–]Graeme-G 1 point2 points ago

I plan on enjoying my one day off today.

[–]BrutusHFX 0 points1 point ago

I enjoyed my one day off today, too. I've been pulling 6 day work weeks 730-5 for the past bit and will continue up until the 22nd.

[–]statusquowarrior 0 points1 point ago

Who decided this anyway? I betcha it was the Church. Well it's cool for the Pope since he doesn't do shit all day.

[–]happiest_tree_friend 0 points1 point ago

we work way more efficiently than we used to years ago. why cant we have fridays off universally?

Also, in german, friday means "free day". The proof is in the puddin, I'm not going to work next friday.

[–]deksamkcab 1 point2 points ago

'Freitag' has nothing to do with' free'. It was originally named after Germanic gods Freyr / Freya.

[–]happiest_tree_friend -1 points0 points ago

that makes sense but I'm still not going to work on friday.

[–]NotAnAmbulanceDriver 2 points3 points ago

Time for a career change. I am a paramedic. Not to brag but I work today tuesday then I don't come back until next Sunday. Oh and I watch football all fucking day and sleep. Plus bitches love paramedics. Edit. Pay is not to bad either 45,000 yr. one year of school. No school loans it cost 2100.00 total I just worked as an EMT first to save the money. All the time off let's me travel. Do it! Doooo it!

[–]kroatia04 1 point2 points ago

Oh shit. Finals in 3 days...

[–]A0783761 0 points1 point ago

you almostmade me have an heart attack. I misread it as today is monday, and i had a final on this day.

[–]dr_derp627 3 points4 points ago

I really feel like it should be a 4 day work week instead.

[–]suppermick 1 point2 points ago

Monday is going to be my 12th day in a row working. :( hopefully I'll have tuesday/wednesday off though.

[–]marshmallowbunny 0 points1 point ago

I'm running a 7 day Monday pulling duty in my job! Tomorrow starts yet another Monday ...I hate Mondays

[–]serpent042 1 point2 points ago

At least you got a weekend. I've only had one day off in the last two weeks.

[–]CreepyBrownBetty 1 point2 points ago

the buisness week should only be four days long!

[–]michaeldcurry1 0 points1 point ago

As a first year university student: I really enjoy my 3 day weekends and only getting up at 10am.

[–]Thesherbertman 0 points1 point ago

HA! I have to work tomorrow but its a ridiculously easy shift on a very quiet and easy day, then I get 2 days off.

[–]imnotwillferrell 0 points1 point ago

i'm applying for a full time job that is only 3 days a week. i hope i get it

[–]GeekAesthete 0 points1 point ago

Sounds like your real complain is that the number of days in the weekend are too damn low.

[–]Ryprask 1 point2 points ago

As a chef this post makes no sense to me what so ever

[–]foobiscuit 1 point2 points ago

As a bartender, I love Mondays and Tuesday since those are my nights off

[–]Demeter_of_New 1 point2 points ago

I got laid off. I have nothing to do until January. The number of weekend days is too damn high.

[–]BreatheAsbestos 1 point2 points ago

HAHA! I have tomorrow off! I still worked Friday Saturday Sunday though...

[–]hungoverbear 0 points1 point ago

This is why I love my shift, I get every other weekend off. My weekends off consist of friday saturday sunday and monday. However the drawback is that I do work 12 hour shifts so when I do work on the weekends I get zero free time.

[–]shoeski 1 point2 points ago

As a person who works 7 days a week...what is a weekend?

[–]GoaterSquad 0 points1 point ago

Lol I have Mondays off.

[–]eldowns 0 points1 point ago

How would this solve the problem of tomorrow still being Monday?

[–]DanjuroV 1 point2 points ago

My vote is for a 4 day work week ie 4 ten-hour days. I already work 9-11 hours a day as it is since I'm salaried, so I'd welcome at Monday-Thursday week.

[–]spitspaceman 0 points1 point ago

With it being the last week of classes and all the work due I kinda wish I had more days in the week to get it all done...

[–]JarasM 0 points1 point ago

The last time I had a free Wednesday I decided that once I'm all big, powerful, wealthy and whatnot and I can decide my goddamn workweek, I will have all Wednesdays off. It's like having two weekends. Essentially your week suddenly consists of two Mondays, two Fridays, a half-weekend and a full-weekend.

Seriously, this should be a thing. I was extremely well rested that week and I think I actually got more shit done than during a usual 5-day workweek.

[–]Judge_Hate 0 points1 point ago

Coast guard's not a bad gig.

[–]halogrand 0 points1 point ago

Fuck tomorrow is only Monday? I only know it as Day -5 in the countdown to winter break... 3 more exams... Why am I here?

[–]TekHead 0 points1 point ago

I think the human race needs to change. How about 4 work days and 3 days off?

Work Monday to Thursday

Friday to Sunday is weekend.

[–]Vexation 0 points1 point ago

As someone who works in the restaurant business, I completely disagree.

[–]fashraf 0 points1 point ago

we should have a 8 day week that is split up into 2 '4 day work periods'. everyone gets 4 days on and 4 days off. everything is open every day of the week but some people are working and others are not. this eliminates the whole 'i have to take the afternoon off to do something because they are only open business hours.' its also always a weekend for half of the population so you have the regular 'weekend holiday' spending. for those with kids, you just sign yourself up for opposite shifts and there is always someone to look after the kids and do all the housework. or you can schedule yourself on the same work-week shifts so that you have more time together. more people are employed this way because you need two times the workforce. can't afford to live off of one job? easy, just get a job that allows you to take advantage of the other work week... you will never need to keep a tight schedule again (unless you are working mornings and evenings).

[–]bigbangbilly 0 points1 point ago

If I pass all of my college courses this semester I might have a 2 day week.

[–]JonSnowsGhost 0 points1 point ago

As someone who has a four day weekend (Mondays and Fridays off), I... shall begin running from the torch wielding mob right meow.

[–]Absolute_Gentleman 0 points1 point ago

We should start a petition.

[–]hawleyal 0 points1 point ago

The stretching out of proportion of this photo is too damn high.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

I know there are like 5 days in between.

[–]skeevers 0 points1 point ago

..and no Walking Dead till Feb.....

[–]vinylscratchp0n3 0 points1 point ago

I vote Friday becomes a legal day of the weekend.

[–]springfieldcolors 0 points1 point ago

5-2 seems unfair. 4-3 seems reasonable. 3-4 is what I would call fair.

[–]iPaisan 0 points1 point ago

If you're unemployed it's the weekend every day

[–]elthomas21 1 point2 points ago

I missed this meme. Thanks for bringing it back

[–]ColdHeart95[S] 1 point2 points ago

OP is supposed to deliver ;D

[–]ExplodingUnicorns -1 points0 points ago

The only thing less depressing this weekend is realizing that next weekend is a 4-day one for me.

[–]evilgeenus07 1 point2 points ago

Most professionals already work more than 8 hours a day. So why not work 40 in four days and have three day weekends? People go out on Thursday because the next day is Friday and no one does shit on Friday anyways.

[–]hthu 0 points1 point ago

Where I work, depending on the particular position, we are given the choice of 5 8-hour days, 4 10-hour days, or alternating 5/4 9-hour days (work 9 hours each day, and get every other Friday off). It's also a way to save on commute time and money.

[–]Sokonomi -1 points0 points ago

[–]JuJu142 -3 points-2 points ago

Why do people upvote this fucking bullshit.
