Who measures miles in yards?

[–]Meggo216 2 points3 points ago

The only one there I like better is the month/day/year because I like to get a sense of what time of year before what time of month. Just a preference. But I also grew up with all of those weird measurements so I'm accustomed to them.

I agree. Also, you can argue that there are less months than days in a month so it can be logical to put months first.

We know both, we just prefer the way we grew up with

I like temperature and date in the US but I feel the rest of the world has us beaten on Distance and weight

why do you like the temperature? 32=freezing? 212=Boiling? that just doesnt make sense man

In the words of Burnie Burns Fahrenheit has a 0-100 scale of temperature for living and Celsius has a 0-40 scale of Temperature for human life I think. Celsius has 0-100 for Water Fahrenheit had 0-100 for Living. And you don't need to know what water Boiling temperature and Freezing Temperature is.

temperature for living? why is a 68 or 70 a good number to have my temperature set at?

Note that I am a Canadian and as such I often use both systems,

For example: It'll be 10 degrees outside (C) and 68 inside (F).

The lake will be 30' deep and 3km long.

I call it a 60, but it says 1.75L on the label

As for weight, that's always in pounds, unless it's something scientific...or weed

EDITs: Formatting

If you use both system often, which do you prefer?

The only time I every use the Metric System is for conversion at school.

Again depends on the situation. Temperature is most often in Celcius. It's really only those that are over 45 who still use F Distance and speed when driving I prefer metric. But in construction distance and size is imperial. you still cut your 10' 2x4 to fit the 3 5/8 gap. I measure my height in ft and inches, and my weight in pounds. Canada is just weird like that. I often will say something along the lines of:

"it was 12 degrees and rained 5mm while I was on the the lake in my 10' boat with a 9.9 hp engine. I must have gone 5 km and used a gallon of gas to get to that spot where I could jump off the 20ft cliff. I caught a fish that was 8 pounds and 16" long. I made it back to my truck which has a 5.8L engine, and drove 30km back home"

It really is just a mix of units up here, and everyone does it. The one I really prefer is Metric time, it just feels good to say "look Tim it's 70 past 84"

Hello My friend from Canada. The reason I think (F) is better than (C) is because of 1.I grew up with it and mainly 2. (C) uses 0-40 for the outside temperature and (F) uses 0-100 For outside temperature. Most people like the water freezing and boiling point to be 0-100 but because I am from Maryland and we usually get from 20 to 90 (F) in the year It is easier for me to just use 0-100 (F) for outside. Also you really don't need to know the freezing or boiling point of water. If you want to boil water you just heat it up and wait for it to boil. And to Freeze it put it in the freezer. TL;DR I enjoy (F) more than (C) because of what the 0-100 scale of each of them are

0 on the Fahrenheit scale is the temperature at which salt-water freezes, so it's not as retarded as it seems.

As a representative for the rest of the enlightened world, we are so very, very sorry that you do not understand. Blame your educational system.
