I like this. OP is cheering us on. I'd rather have people supporting us than throwing shit on us while we are running, which does happen.

Thank you

EDIT: If Robert Downey Jr. cheered me on, I'd freakin be non-enhanced Lance Armstrong.

EDIT2: This is how I jog: http://i.imgur.com/MkAEH.gif

[–]Wibbles 21 points22 points ago

I've never had stuff thrown at me while running, I usually get encouragement yelled at me by passing cars which makes me feel awkward. I'm not fat though so that might have something to do with it.

Seen people throw shit at fishermen though, I didn't realise they were such a hated demographic.

[–]FancySack 18 points19 points ago

I have. I can't properly articulate the emotions I went through when it has happened.

It's like the true definition of despair plus a kick in the face.

[–]onemadnigga 15 points16 points ago

When I started running last year I was 250lbs. I stuck to the blocks around my neighborhood. Now I'm still running and I'm ~170lbs. Still a little chubby, but better than having high cholesterol/blood pressure at age 16.

[–]sesamecakes 5 points6 points ago

if it helps, i've also had stuff thrown at me and i don't think i'm chubby (5'4, 120 lbs). regardless, i usually wear clothes that are loose enough that you can't really tell if i'm muffin topping over my too-tight running shorts, so it may just be general douchbagginess rather than targetted aggression. i am asian though so i suppose it could have been racism ...

[–]wrngway 12 points13 points ago

Why is anyone throwing stuff at other folks? What the hell is wrong with those people?!?!

I'm glad I haven't run into this. I've actually had someone give me a high five!!

[–]FancySack 1 point2 points ago

Wait...I'm Asian too...

[–]fistfulloframen 6 points7 points ago

I've had full full cups of soda thrown at me, milk shake, ice. Usually I just say fuck it, eat some nachos and play video games. (6'4 380 lbs)

[–]NACHOS_4_ALL 2 points3 points ago

The best encouragement is when you see another runner and he gives you a simple gesture in passing.

[–]Wibbles 2 points3 points ago

Dog walkers are always the ones smiling at me and egging me on. They would wouldn't they, I'm sure walking that dog is exhausting...

errr, I'm not a happy man after I've run a few miles.

[–]mrsblackberrykush 3 points4 points ago

I've never had stuff thrown at me, but I have had insults yelled at me, and a few drive-by mooings.

I work out inside now.

[–]PatrickPlan8 8 points9 points ago

my fellow fat brother or sister ..... I KNOW YOUR PAIN!!!! cries and holds you close

[–]untrustableskeptic 7 points8 points ago

I would never berate an overweight jogger. Why harass someone when they're trying to do something to improve their life? If a severely overweight person just sat around and got fatter we would just be jerks either way. I'll throw you flowers FancySack. You deserve them.

[–]FancySack 1 point2 points ago

Thanks man.

[–]Forgetheriver 5 points6 points ago

Some cunt tried to run me over with their car.

[–]FancySack 1 point2 points ago

What? That's crazy. How did this come about?

[–]Forgetheriver 1 point2 points ago

There isn't a good sidewalk around the blocks near my home. They're extremely uneven and a mess for my knees. so I was running on the edge between the sidewalk and the road because thankfully that's flat.

The car is driving on the opposite lane driving towards me and they decide to head in my direction. At first I thought it was one of my friends because I could only see their headlights. But the car then sped up and moved over into the other side of the road right in front of me. So I dived/ran behind a parked car to save myself.

[–]FancySack 0 points1 point ago

Dang, hopefully that driver was only trying to scare you and that's it.

[–]Forgetheriver 2 points3 points ago

Yeah I keep hoping it was just an old acquaintance just messing around with me.

[–]ElLocoS 8 points9 points ago

As a fat dude, when I am out for a run, I usually get compliments and some girls even go run with me to encourage. The few time people were dicks to me, was always 12-13 year old bastards or douches.

[–]PatrickPlan8 1 point2 points ago

well don't you live in a nice rainbow land. I have always had at least one rock thrown at me while i rode my bike where i lived or when I was out walking. What area of the country do you live in or well which country that is?

[–]mysheettz890 1 point2 points ago

I'm curious where you live! I see runners/joggers all the time and no one berates them

[–]PatrickPlan8 0 points1 point ago

Maryland in anne arundel county. And its not "runners" its fat people they berate

[–]ElLocoS 0 points1 point ago

Florianópolis - Brasil

It is a really nice place. I can't say I get girls that wanna fuck me (I don't try, girlfriend for 6 years) or that they are esay, but I mostly get encouragement.

[–]PatrickPlan8 0 points1 point ago

United states here near Maryland state capital. Support seems to be the last thought on the mind of your fellow man here.

[–]Citizen_Sn1ps 4 points5 points ago

I don't know what you're talking about, that's Kirk Lazarus.

[–]aleerandalee 4 points5 points ago

EDIT: If Robert Downey Jr. cheered me on, I'd freakin be non-enhanced Lance Armstrong.

But non-enlanced Hance hasn't ever won anything...

[–]FancySack 1 point2 points ago

I don't even know if this is relevant: http://i.imgur.com/qXpkq.gif

You would do well to watch this little gem I found on YouTube last week!

[–]FancySack 0 points1 point ago

Great song and I'll start doing the T-1000

[–]SonOfObed89[S] 0 points1 point ago

Seriously, I have watched it about 30 times and I can't get over how perfect the music is for the clip!

[–]gary0ak 1 point2 points ago

Somebody threw an egg at me once. :(

[–]Strawcrazyman 36 points37 points ago

Honestly, I think the same thing towards myself. The prospect of dying at forty is unpleasant. Thanks for the support.

[–]theraineydaze 10 points11 points ago

I think OP meant this how Robert Downey Jr said it in the movie. He wants the chubby person to succeed or "survive" and to continue running until they become healthier.

[–]SirSupay 39 points40 points ago

Is that black African American Robert Downey Jr?

EDIT:rude request from TheAlmightyAtheismo

[–]callsign_helo 12 points13 points ago

That mouth/nose twitch at the end.

[–]Trayf 10 points11 points ago

[–]mexicanStaringFrog 7 points8 points ago

He's the dude playin' the dude, disguised as another dude!

Well, they willingly commented on this site, so i think he wanted people to see what he wrote. If he didn't, then he wouldn't have commented, or created an account for that matter.

[–]EatThyStool 37 points38 points ago

Hi.

[–]eric0rr 34 points35 points ago

Well hello there! How was your day?

[–]mdax8414 3 points4 points ago

it was OK. I went to work, then you know, went home. Got a shower then went to the bar, drank some beer, and now I'm home, on reddit. how was yours?

[–]Random_European_Male 16 points17 points ago

I just woke up!

[–]ihaveno_originality 1 point2 points ago

I'm about to go to sleep.

[–]Mr-You 16 points17 points ago

HE DIDN'T ASK YOU!

[–]vfxDan 3 points4 points ago

I DIDN'T MAKE HIM FOR YOU!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

Hola

[–]muralbat 4 points5 points ago

Thats what us chubby people are thinking too.

[–]Timae09 11 points12 points ago

"Don't count him out! That bastard's got luck tattooed to his ass!"

[–]TheDecline 5 points6 points ago

"Cover me you limp dick fuckups!!!!"

[–]T_Funky 1 point2 points ago

"Man, I don't drop character 'till I done the DVD commentary."

"I'm just like a little boy, playin' with his dick when he's nervous."

Robert Downey Jr. actually did do the DVD commentary in the Osiris character and it is so hysterical, if you get the chance to watch the movie with the commentary DO IT!!

[–]Timae09 0 points1 point ago

Dude awesome.

I need to buy this movie.

[–]TheDovahkiinsDad 2 points3 points ago

Almost spit my coffee out at work. Thanks for the good laugh.

[–]Pedny 2 points3 points ago

Whenever I am the chubby person out for a run...

[–]jesslyn22 1 point2 points ago

I read "Survive" in Craig's voice.

[–]bman_33 1 point2 points ago

Hey! What do you mean "you people"?!

[–]KhaleesiStormborn 9 points10 points ago

I don't get it.

[–]eternalkerri 38 points39 points ago

Two possible answers, one good, one bad.

  1. "hey, overweight out of shape person! Good on you! You extend your lifespan through good health

  2. "hey lard ass don't stroke out!"

in all likelihood it's option number two.

[–]HPLoveshack 8 points9 points ago

I interpreted it more as "persevere until it stops being so painful" because when you're out of shape and overweight running for even a short amount of time is arduous. Getting on your running gear and doing a whole session for the kind of time it takes to get better at it is downright torture.

Source: A guy who still hates cardio, but used to be a lot worse at it.

[–]cuddlyogre 1 point2 points ago

Probably a bit of both. He's rooting them on but hoping it doesn't kill them in the process.

[–]rstocker87 5 points6 points ago

Spectaucular movie, i came my pants during it due to its hilarity

[–]funnels 0 points1 point ago

I know that feel, bro. People improving themselves is my bread and butter.

[–]Add4164 0 points1 point ago

actually if anyone has seen the movie.... SURFAH

[–]afganistanimation 0 points1 point ago

I always think "good for you, good for you.." The same applies to when I see senior citizens jogging.

[–]Freekingepic 0 points1 point ago
