Just so everyone knows that stuff hanging off his antlers is his velvet which he is shedding off, not Blizten's guts

Does it hurt?

It itches and the chunks falling on your head can be annoying but the antlers are all bone so you don't feel a lot.

I don't think so, basically it is the skin which covers the antler as it grows to it's full size. As the rack matures, the velvet falls off and the bone dies, what left is the antler we see on deer, moose, etc.

Thanks for ruining it, ass

Well it is vascular tissue so that is blood on his antlers.

Shedding or he got into a fight and the velvet shredded off?

Probably rubbing off on a tree

That is interesting, I never really realized what "velvet" was.

I can't help but wonder how it's a good idea for a prey animal to be broadcasting its whereabouts with the smell of blood, though?!

That is an Axis Deer.

Or it could be rutting season... It isn't uncommon for deer to fight, sometimes to the death.
