I think I would have literally shit my pants.

[–]bhahne 33 points34 points ago

I saw one like this in Illinois just not as bright. Burst into flames in the sky and for the next few minutes I was looking for a damn land tsunami because I thought it was that bad. Turns out it was a little one over Oklahoma and many people freaked as well. Wonder if this is the same just a hell I a lot closer.

I saw a green one once when I was little.

[–]OblivionsMemories 12 points13 points ago

My boyfriend and I saw a green one a few years back. It was all over the news that night, then the next morning, they denied it ever existed.

Said anyone who saw it was lying, basically.

That's always baffled me. If you're trying to cover something up, you should at least make a cover story, not just say it didn't happen.

[–]nazilaks 6 points7 points ago

why would anyone want to cover that up?

[–]OblivionsMemories 6 points7 points ago

That was my point!

The entire thing still confuses me to this day.

[–]Unwoollymammoth 4 points5 points ago

It was the Hulk coming back after a secret mission.

[–]Hurricane_DickSmash 2 points3 points ago

[–]goal2004 6 points7 points ago

[–]trebory6 3 points4 points ago

I saw one in So Cal the other day. It wasn't nearly as big as this, but was big enough to see through all the light pollution.

[–]phindah 1 point2 points ago

I saw it too!! My boyfriend didn't believe me though. I'm using your post as evidence!

[–]WeThoughtYouWasAToad 1 point2 points ago

So did I (in Illinois)! About 12-15 years ago. Made a crackly noise and lit up the sky like day.

[–]bobboa 0 points1 point ago

I believe this one was northern Canada, Alberta or Sask. I remember seeing it on the news.

[–]FreddyandTheChokes 1 point2 points ago

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, my good chum!

[–]Ceejae 0 points1 point ago

Some one correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm quite sure that if there was ever a meteor that could affect you from that far away, we would know about it a long time before it ever hit.

[–]ishkeebibels 0 points1 point ago

Negative

[–]kleptophobiac 28 points29 points ago

I think my heart would have stopped until I was sure a shockwave wasn't coming. Then I would have to tidy myself up.

[–]ilanimage 18 points19 points ago

Thor, we found your hammer.

[–]PovertyPoint -4 points-3 points ago

Isn't this from Thor?

[–]TheSandyRavage 130 points131 points ago

[–]DeniseDeNephew 36 points37 points ago

Holy shit! I'd kill to have seen that in person!

[–]Matt872000 23 points24 points ago

The meteor apparently went down in Alberta and I even saw it from Manitoba. It was intense...

[–]AndrewP7 10 points11 points ago

Happened in 2008, did it not? I saw it too :P

[–]Matt872000 13 points14 points ago

Yup, that's the one. I was actually on a date watching a movie on the roof of the college when I saw it...

[–]Ranyilliams 13 points14 points ago

how did the date go? Are you still with that person?

[–]Beanbaker 13 points14 points ago

Pretty much would have had to have sex right there and then.

[–]CarlFromAccounting 8 points9 points ago

Might as well be balls deep in a woman when you die.

[–]Alecohol 4 points5 points ago

"Baby I see stars!" Would boost my ego

[–]CarlFromAccounting 4 points5 points ago

Dude. I didn't mean one of those girls you club over the head.

[–]Matt872000 5 points6 points ago

Nah, it went well for a bit but the relationship pretty much went to crap about a month or so after.

[–]Mr_Old_Sky 0 points1 point ago

OP will surely deliver...

[–]HappyTissue 1 point2 points ago

Please tell me you used a cheese pickup line once you saw it?

[–]Alecohol 2 points3 points ago

Hey brother

[–]AndrewP7 2 points3 points ago

I read that in Busters voice...

[–]Leel17 1 point2 points ago

I live in Saskatchewan and I was walking my dog at the time. For a split second I thought it was daylight. I almost went insane.

[–]AndrewP7 6 points7 points ago

I saw it happen all the way in Saskatoon, SK and it landed somewhere in Alberta. Pants were shat cause it was right over me.

[–]vertigo1083 0 points1 point ago

I'm pretty sure this might kill you to see this in person.

[–]Thatguyispimp 0 points1 point ago

I actually did see it, was playing some video games when suddenly something flashed outside, I look outside and the flash had gotten even brighter and turned the night into daylight pretty much and seeing the meteor freaked me the fuck out.

[–]pacman404 11 points12 points ago

Jesus, I bet you could have heard that fucker falling

[–]YronK9 -1 points0 points ago

Holy shit, I was there it was LOUD.

[–]habitats 7 points8 points ago

Meteor compilation, holy shit this stuff is rather intense.

And here is a video of the .gif in question.

[–]TheGenitalPirate 8 points9 points ago

ACCERLERATE! POWER SLAM

[–]BedHeadRedHead 2 points3 points ago

I saw one of these once on my way to a speech/communications class in college; it was about 745pm. I was at a stoplight and it shot across the sky and disappeared behind the trees across the street. It was so bright, like the most neon green color and completely lit up the night sky. Everyone at the light just got out of their cars and stood there for a few seconds. I imagine this is incredibly uncommon and we were all just in awe of how awesome it had been.

[–]your_crazy_ex 5 points6 points ago

Some of them were probably waiting for a shockwave, expecting it was the end of the world that just flew over head.

[–]HyperionsChaos 2 points3 points ago

I didn't see it fall in person, but I got to hold a piece of it that my Prof found during the search. It was heavy, metallic - mostly iron. Forged within the heart of a star, released in a massive super-nova --- and wandered space for billions of years. Neat stuff.

[–]Cheezy_Blazterz 3 points4 points ago

I saw one almost this big once in Colorado. I was talking on the phone with a friend who happened to be driving the same direction, about 90 miles south of me. We both yelled "HOLY SHIT, DID YOU SEE THAT?" at the exact same time.

[–]pseudolobster 16 points17 points ago

And got 1047 upvotes for it no less.

[–]silvabramley 13 points14 points ago

I have OP tagged as reposting faggot from previous reposts.

[–]johnsmith9219 4 points5 points ago

His submission history is devoid of original content.

[–]LazierThanYOU 1 point2 points ago

/r/Woahdude would like this

[–]PimpNinjaMan 2 points3 points ago

Somebody saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaave meeeeeee....

[–]CleanBill 0 points1 point ago

I wonder how much mana that costed to the caster, also who was the target. Probably it was a bar brawl at the wizard's bar.

[–]clobbersaurus_rex 1 point2 points ago

I was driving home from work when I saw this, driving towards the International airport.

I thought a plane was crashing.

[–]TheTravis13 0 points1 point ago

So cool. I've experienced something similar (although not nearly as big) and I've never felt so excited and terrified at the same time. And then, a second later, the meteor is gone and so is your terror.

[–]phantasmas -1 points0 points ago

I just relizedd I have not witnessed the landing of an alien spacecraft.

[–]Dominoes282 -1 points0 points ago

Looks like a nuke.

[–]Hurricane_DickSmash 1 point2 points ago

I strongly disagree.

[–]Varvex 0 points1 point ago

Orbital Bombardment!

[–]Chunga_the_Great 1 point2 points ago

Master Chief?

[–]ericwilson 0 points1 point ago

I need a dash cam.

[–]Genetic90 0 points1 point ago

I saw the exact same thing a couple of years ago in the Netherlands. It lid up sky for a moment as it were to be daylight. My mom had mistaken it for fireworks, but it was pretty obvious firework usually goes up and not down from the heavens, lol. Next day the news reported a meteorite had landed in Norway.

[–]ak9010 0 points1 point ago

TYREAL

[–]estcity -1 points0 points ago

sauce?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

i fully expected a meteor to run naked across the sky. it did.

[–]Dark_Pinoy 0 points1 point ago

I saw one in Jacksonville at UNF a couple weeks back. It was red and went burning through I sky towards the parking lot. You don't know how much I hoped it was a dying alien who was going to give me his powers. xD

[–]zeropx[!] 0 points1 point ago

About 5 years ago my wife and I seen one like this in Redding Ca. By chance you know when and where this was taken?

[–]Hurricane_DickSmash 0 points1 point ago

so did it make impact or burn up? If that son of a bitch burn't up I couldn't imagine how big and bright the meteor was that killed the dinosaurs

[–]youmumumakemehappy 0 points1 point ago

That ain't no meteor, that's just a big ol piece of poopie.

[–]EpicFoetus 0 points1 point ago

I've been disappointed by misleading posts like this before and someone has delivered...I was expecting a meteor flapping it's arms about with a blurr where it's genitals would be.... (._. )

[–]TechnoCA 0 points1 point ago

I've seen this one IRL.

[–]3MinuteHero 0 points1 point ago

Turned night into day. WTF

[–]Lilithgana 0 points1 point ago

And then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked.

[–]dhockey63 0 points1 point ago

[–]fubes2000 1 point2 points ago

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_2aX-784sw

Police dash cam of Meteor over Edmonton, Canada.

Filmed about 5:30pm Thursday November 20th 2008

I remember driving home that night and seeing the flash, but I had no idea what it was. I thought maybe I just stroked out for an instant, but once I got home it was all over the news. It was pretty cool, like someone flicked the sun back on for an instant.

IIRC it actually landed in a field somewhere in Saskatchewan near the Alberta border.

[–]MaynPayn 0 points1 point ago

Meteor... or "cats" from the planet Won Ton.

[–]SamPeaches 0 points1 point ago

I saw something very simmilar in Massachusetts on Thursday night around 6 pm. At first i thought it was a UFO, but then my friend who i was with said that it was a meteor. I was also high at the time and it got me thinking about space. :)

[–]scratchisme 0 points1 point ago

[–]Arkadii 0 points1 point ago

It landed in Smallville

[–]Karaoke_Kitten 0 points1 point ago

I seen one once some years ago...

[–]scheides 0 points1 point ago

I live in Minneapolis and saw something like this a few years back. I drove a few miles towards it looking for massive damage but it had actually landed in eastern Wisconson, hundreds of miles away!

[–]Squirly 0 points1 point ago

One night whilst camping I was trying to find the water spigot when my flashlight died. A meteor just like this flashed across the sky coating everything in a green light long enough for me to find the spout and stare in awe of the glowing rock burn up the sky. It was beautiful, finding my way back to my tent with no flashlight and no meteor was not.

[–]Buttpoker 0 points1 point ago

[–]iamkubrick 0 points1 point ago
