Office pets are great, I wish more places had them. I worked at a cabinet shop for a bit, they had a cat that lived in the office. Naturally I spent all my breaks with the cat, made the job much more bearable.

We got another cat that went on a rampage against the mice (his nickname was Killbot5000, no, I didn't name him). We started talking about getting rid of the first cat.                             I work for my mother, in an office converted from the bottom floor of her house. And while my mother doesn't LOVE stray cats, she has taken in several. Her favorite, Squeaker, often jumps on my desk, flops down on my keyboard and cuddles until he falls asleep. As cute as it is, it's damn hard to type around him.

                            Apparently providing a box for them, like the cover of a board game next to the keyboard will get the cat to lie down in that instead. I haven't tried it myself, but my cats like to lie down on my feet or backpack when I'm on my laptop so it's not usually a problem.

                                    Different levels of allergy. Allergy pills helps things like runny noses and itchy eyes but not allergies like mine where cats actually can cause anaphylaxis. I used to have to carry an epipen my allergy was so severe.

                                                                  My father worked as a transmitter engineer on the top of Mount Washington in Northern New Hampshire. He was in charge of keeping the transmitters in that remote location running for WMTW TV-8. A sidelight of his job, and what he is known in the northeast for was a 30 second weather show during the 6 o'clock news.

                                                                  They had a cat named Pushka that lived with them up there. Every so often during the show the cat would jump up on the desk in front of Dad. The studio received enough letters from viewers asking for more of the cat that my father started keeping a little catnip in his shirt pocket to lure the cat in.

                                                                  Years ago my local television station took in a stray that took up residence in their "weather garden". He was an orange tabby named Larry. Not long after, a young stray named Joey joined him. Joey was feral & took a long time to tame. Eventually Larry was run over in the down town city streets behind that Little Rock television station.

                                                                  Joey was then pinned in. They enclosed the weather garden and he cannot roam the LR streets. Of course, another feral "Joey" can't slip in now, either.

                                                                  Joey has become a star all on his own. Personally, I was rather attached to Larry, but something about taming the wild kitten touched many people's hearts. Joey is a national star now and has been featured on Animal Planet.

                                                                  Other television stations have adopted their own cats because of Larry and Joey. I suppose this cat is one of them, but I hear they are good for ratings.
