Ya, it's not hard to find good salad around these parts.

[–]indubitabluh 7 points8 points ago

just moved to WA, too bad I'm 20 (one year too young) and I don't know anybody yet :/

[–]Cruminal 5 points6 points ago

It won't be on sale for another year. You aren't missing out there. Next week I'm thinking it should be a lot easier to find a hookup..

[–]rcrabb 2 points3 points ago

So in the meantime, are police still going to be enforcing the law? I would feel foolish as a police officer arresting someone for a breaking a law that was only still on the books as a technicality.

[–]AbovetheIgnorance420 2 points3 points ago

quotas? pretty much depends on the cop I'd say

[–]Cruminal 0 points1 point ago

As I understand it, starting December 6th recreational use will be legal and a person over the age of 21 can possess or give up to an ounce. Selling it privately is prohibited, but the transaction takes but a moment, right? The liquor control board then has a year to implement sales and regulation. I'm quite curious how they will do this and the form it takes.

No sale tax is so great in Oregon though... What you see is what you pay.

[–]AbovetheIgnorance420 1 point2 points ago

the whole point of relegalizing it is to get it on the open market. if that means a little taxation (most see it as requiring a necessary "sin" tax similar to alcohol and tobacco) then so be it because our country really could use a boost, mentally and economically. the cannabis plant is a great tool towards an overall better world and sacrifices will have to be made if you really want to share it with all of mankind.

The retail model that Washington has adopted is horrible. It takes the high quality, properly grown bomb off the market and the income supporting the people that bring it to the community and hands it over to the likes of the cigarette companies who will ruin the weed by adding chemicals and ther crap. And the billions of dollars goes to the huge corporations and more money for the 1%. ..absolutely retarded.

As a person who ha sbeen in the medical pot industry for 15 years in California, trust me when I tell you that the only good legal model is to allow people to grow their own, and to sell it using tax stamps. This will keep quality up and provide very fair prices while at the same time supporting your local small business owner.

[–]Cruminal 1 point2 points ago

Where did you find your information? I've read nothing about companies or chemicals. I would like to know more if you're not just speculating.

[–]philin 1 point2 points ago

Yes, but unfortunately that money they already got from you, before the sale, in the form of state income tax. So you don't have the choice to spend your money on taxable sales or save it/invest it/spend it in a way that is not taxed.

[–]TheJohnRocker 0 points1 point ago

Yes and Oregon has more property tax. It's all the same except you don't have to use your math on every purchase. But no matter where you are there will be a sin tax on your cannabis which is good for the nation.

[–]Really_Sad 1 point2 points ago

Ya, that lack of sales tax is so nice. Especially being from California and going to college here.

[–]hazzleby 2 points3 points ago

I feel your pain, fellow Oregonians. I was planning on settling in portland, but now I'm thinking vancouver is just across the bridge...

[–]theshedres 2 points3 points ago

Do yourself a favor and don't ever go to Vantuckey

[–]hazzleby 3 points4 points ago

Vantuckey? Vancouver + Kentucky?

[–]theshedres 2 points3 points ago

Damn skippy.

[–]I_play_4_keeps 0 points1 point ago

Head on over, as long as you're not weird like the majority of people from Portland.

[–]hazzleby 0 points1 point ago

I'm a non-hick, non-judgmental southern oregon-er if you can believe it.

[–]MorganFreemanAsSatan 7 points8 points ago

Just make sure you move to either Seattle or Spokane. Anywhere else is essentially Idaho.

[–]Starcakes 5 points6 points ago

Ain't nobody wanna move to Spokompton.

[–]I_play_4_keeps 3 points4 points ago

Spokanistan

[–]I_play_4_keeps 1 point2 points ago

If you truly think that then you are a dumbass

[–]MorganFreemanAsSatan -1 points0 points ago

Tell me how Whitman county differs from Idaho.

[–]I_play_4_keeps 0 points1 point ago

Tell me how Whitman County is the only other County than King and Spokane. Try getting out of the house more often.

[–]MorganFreemanAsSatan 0 points1 point ago

I mentioned elsewhere that I was counting Tacoma and such as Seattle. Perhaps it is an oversimplification, but everyone I know tends to lump the whole left coast together as "Seattle". Everything east of the mountains is basically Idaho and I have never seen a significant difference in culture between King and Snohomish or whatever.

[–]I_play_4_keeps 0 points1 point ago

Well I live in Clark county and it's nothing like King county but it's no eastern Washington. Same goes for Whatcom county.

[–]spyhermit 1 point2 points ago

Very much so.

[–]theawkwardsloth 1 point2 points ago

how so?

[–]MorganFreemanAsSatan 0 points1 point ago

Spokane and Seattle (or rather, King County and surrounding areas) are the most progressive, the rest of it has a similar culture to northern Idaho.

[–]jsn0x 1 point2 points ago

Ouch... didn't know our neighbors thought so poorly of us northern Idahoians.

[–]MorganFreemanAsSatan 1 point2 points ago

It's not a bad thing necessarily, but someone from Oregon moving to WA for weed probably doesn't want to live in wheat and potato land.

[–]jsn0x 0 points1 point ago

Ah, very good point. I guess growing up in a town of ~1500, being surrounded by farms for a hundred miles, and living 80 miles from the nearest walmart isn't 'normal' and/or preferred.

[–]MorganFreemanAsSatan 0 points1 point ago

I've spent a significant amount of time in smaller towns than that in WA, but unless you have family or friends there, there is nothing to do. Even if you do, the only things to do are shoot stuff, screw around in trucks or get drunk.

[–]jsn0x 0 points1 point ago

Basically. It suited me pretty well, being the introverted person I am. Nothing better than being out in nature alone or with family/friends. I lived in Boise for 2 years... hated it. Boise isn't even considered a big city by some people (Californians) but I couldn't stand it, felt like I was being suffocated.

[–]theawkwardsloth 0 points1 point ago

Pierce county in the general southsound area is also similar to king county (with a few back-woodsy places like roy and buckley and graham)

[–]jpedraza253 0 points1 point ago

Tacoma is in no way Idaho.

[–]MorganFreemanAsSatan 2 points3 points ago

I'm counting Tacoma as Seattle.

[–]Starcakes 1 point2 points ago

Vancouver, WA here. We thought you were gonna go first.

[–]FisherKing13 3 points4 points ago

They don't call it the Evergreen state for nothing..

[–]sorahn 1 point2 points ago

We've got plenty to share! Come on up brother! (Just don't root for the Timbers and you'll blend right in)

[–]blaze_all_day 0 points1 point ago

I've been a strong supporter of the Timbers ever since I can remember...cuz I smoke too much weed :(.

[–]sorahn 0 points1 point ago

lolol. Thats ok, we'll still take you :)

[–]joemeister1 1 point2 points ago

As an ent in ANYWHERE

[–]Spider_Riviera 1 point2 points ago

I'm a chef who's been debating internally about the merits of moving to B.C. Canada.

Since the vote though, I'm torn between either there or Washington.

Decisions, decisions....

[–]daisycraze 1 point2 points ago

B.C.

[–]darkflavour 0 points1 point ago

Both are great, but Van is just something else.

Edit: Vancouver B.C. that is

[–]Evilkagato 1 point2 points ago

If you move to WA, come to Bellingham as you get to be close to BC and live In WA. Best of both worlds!

[–]edwardgarcia 0 points1 point ago

As ents in any other state, we should move to Washington. Or Colorado.

[–]theshedres 1 point2 points ago

NO. Never. What?

[–]Grizzled_Sloth_King 1 point2 points ago

If you do, Bellingham is the place to be for an Ent. Great community.

This overused meme makes the front page almost every day...and memes are not even allowed in the posting rules. Something is wrong here.

[–]pwnyoface 0 points1 point ago

not being able to pump your own gas is enough of a reason for me to never move to oregon.

[–]Hookmeupablast 0 points1 point ago

Vancouver aint so far away..

[–]I_play_4_keeps 0 points1 point ago

It's Portland without the weird.

[–]Oregonsgreen 1 point2 points ago

no you shouldn't

[–]I_play_4_keeps 0 points1 point ago

I live in the Couve, come on over and blaze one up with me.

[–]Butt_Sex_Bill 0 points1 point ago

I'm in Olympia. Washington is pretty awesome I must say, NW love

[–]snapundersteer 0 points1 point ago

Serious question, do you need a Washington I.D. to buy or can you just like drive over?

[–]JUDGE_THREADD 0 points1 point ago

As a person from California, all I have to say is " Look at Washington and Colorado, they are so cute!".

[–]PowerChordPsycho -1 points0 points ago

You really should. It's awesome here :)
