I am a very small female scooterist. Whenever I see a motorcyclist, I give them the wave. If they don't wave back, I look really sad. Then they feel bad and wave back.

[–]Reaps21 4 points5 points ago

If someone gives me the wave, scooter or not, I always wave back.

Harley riders never wave at me :(

[–]gman1955 1 point2 points ago

I ride a Harley and I wave at everyone on 2 or 3 wheels, its all about the ride.

[–]Stormdancer 1 point2 points ago

This is exactly how you can tell 'real' riders, much as I hate that term.

[–]ThreeOclockBreakfast 0 points1 point ago

I stopped waving at scooters cause like 1/5 wave back.

[–]gman1955 1 point2 points ago

I don't blame them, if I were riding a scoter I think I'd be afraid to take my hands off the handlebars too.

[–]taylorcraig634 0 points1 point ago

I'm way too prideful to do something like this

[–]antonehenry 5 points6 points ago

I put a milk crate on the back of my scooter cause it looks way more bad ass.

[–]Stormdancer 11 points12 points ago

As a motorcyclist, I give 'the wave' to most scooters.

They're taking the same risks... with less power to escape.

[–]redditor_011 14 points15 points ago

I once gave a scooter a wave once..only because I thought it was a biker from far distance. When I realized it was a scooter I wish I could've taken back my wave

[–]DoneRedditAlready 6 points7 points ago

i feel this feel.

[–]ruined_the_joke 0 points1 point ago

This comment seems very familiar.

[–]Damaband41 2 points3 points ago

Good guy motercyclist. I don't think that meme will catch on though because you're the only one.

[–]Mordraken -1 points0 points ago

I live in a college town, and do it quite often... but that's because they're everywhere.

Edit: me being the motorcyclist, and they being scooterists.

[–]RegalCabbage 23 points24 points ago

As a proud motorcycle owner, I can confirm that every time I pass a scooter I mentally call them a pussy.

[–]CuntSackMcQuack 5 points6 points ago

I understand scooter owners being upset at this comment, but as someone who owns a car, every time I see a motorbike I think "fuck I want a motorbike". When I see someone on a scooter I think "Why the fuck don't they just get a motorbike?".

There is ONE reason I would get a scooter. Scooter brother!

[–]moltiin 6 points7 points ago

I have a scooter because where I live you don't need a special licence for a scooter. I can't afford the costs associated with both a car and a scooter.

The scooter is better on fuel so I like to use it.

Also, RegalCabbage, you're a dick :D

[–]_suited_up 2 points3 points ago

it's not about what you drive, it's how you drive it. If you have fun with the scooter then screw motorbikes.

[–]CuntSackMcQuack 2 points3 points ago

That's fair enough I suppose. Never thought of it that way.

Yeah RegalCabbage, fuck you man!

[–]agehrt 3 points4 points ago

your username gave me a new positive outlook on life

[–]CuntSackMcQuack 2 points3 points ago

Thanks man.

Unite! To arms my brothers!

[–]Ryo95 3 points4 points ago

And my axe!

[–]Ryo95 0 points1 point ago

well, I would love to drive a motorcycle, but I do not have the ~3000€ for the license and then another 10000 for a decent motorcycle and then around 1000€ yearly for insurance. I'm happy with my scooter (don't need a license cause I got the car license), around 100€ a year for insurance and 1500 for the scooter.

[–]_suited_up -1 points0 points ago

vespa's are pretty darn cool and if you live in a really congested city a scooter zips around traffic much better better than a motorbike.

[–]agent519 14 points15 points ago

As a proud moped rider, I can confirm that I don't give a shit.

[–]agehrt 1 point2 points ago

another proud moped owner here, this checks out

[–]chakravanti93 -1 points0 points ago

He said scooter, not moped. Most motorcyclist still give respect to moped. Or maybe it's just that they can't tell because my moped is so badass. (Revival)

[–]Reaps21 0 points1 point ago

I don't know if I would call them a pussy. They are riding a two wheel powered bike. I actually didn't feel comfortable at all on a scooter, small tires, low speed, feels more dangerous and cars have even less regard for scooters IMO.

[–]conrad98 1 point2 points ago

Once upon a time, I rode a scooter. Now that I own a bike, I'll never look back. People might not realize that scooters are more dangerous since you cannot keep up with traffic. I've had way too many close calls with people zooming past me with little space in between or getting in front of me just to make a turn immediately in front of me.

[–]DCSRM 1 point2 points ago

I actually went the other way. I has a bike in the temperate climate I lived in, then got a scooter when I moved to a snowy area. The 150cc motor is really enough to keep up with traffic fine. I got it because I knew it would lay it down in the snow a lot, going just a few mph down my huge hill that doesn't get plowed very often. I haven't been hurt, I can pick it up with ease and it doesn't get damaged.

Each have their own uses

[–]nyandog -3 points-2 points ago

that's pathetic

[–]gman1955 8 points9 points ago

More dangerously in my opinion

[–]MinorDefect 0 points1 point ago

Because people overtake in the shittiest situations just so they don't have to drive with 30km/h upside the hill. Have fun with a bus/truck behind you. Better run for your life. Or drive in this case. Oh well, your scooter's already giving its best...

I'll have you know, once in my life I overtook a green Kawasaki Ninja in an extreme luck situation with my scooter.

[–]tnuctaht 6 points7 points ago

Ninja was parked.

[–]MinorDefect 2 points3 points ago

It wasn't. It was in the city with around 50km/h and I was like 2-3km/h faster than him and took my chance like a crazy maniac.

[–]DoneRedditAlready 0 points1 point ago

dude drags so much heel in this its sickening!

[–]DoneRedditAlready 2 points3 points ago

i always feel bad when i'm next to a scooter at a stoplight, now if they were by themselves at that light, i can see them feeling more badass than a car, they are free, they have the wind in their hair, danger = cool. But then when i pull up i totally take all the wind out of their sails :( sorry dudes

[–]tnuctaht 0 points1 point ago

Almost every scooter rider I see wears protective singlets, safety shorts and skin saving invisible gloves heading to a cafe to drink a double soy mocchashito. Its a lifestyle. That's why I only nod fellow bikes

[–]MinorDefect 1 point2 points ago

I'll have you know, I fell from my scooter 9 times now because I drive like shit sometimes. Still not wearing that stuff. It's a scooter and it needs to be treated like that. I'll wear protection once I ride something proper. Not everyone of us is such a pussy. Hell I even drive in the middle of winter, it's perfectly possible until 5cm of snow and some ice as well.

[–]tnuctaht -1 points0 points ago

Congrats bro. Chicks dig lack of skin.

Edit: You drive like shit and ride a scooter. Not sure if being trolled or if completely serious.

[–]disturbdlurker 3 points4 points ago

I ride a GSXR and I give scooters the wave...but I almost never get it back from scooters.

[–]stuff_of_epics 0 points1 point ago

As a man who drives a motorcycle with less displacement than most scooters, I hold no contempt for my cage-less bretheren. But I do wonder if many realize they could have done they same and saved themselves $1000-$2000.

[–]fiah84 1 point2 points ago

I'm pretty sure that most here are talking about 50cc, for which you often don't need license. Or maybe 125cc scooters.

[–]dominicl14 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, and when you see a kid on a bicycle I hope you don't immitate the mouvement and then do a middle finger to them. YOU'D BETTER NOT.

[–]DanGer2386 0 points1 point ago

Yea, you guys can just scoot along for all I care.

[–]Damaband41 -2 points-1 points ago

Mike Myers' facial expression here is perfect.
