Now millions of redditors have a reason to self-diagnose themselves with ADHD. Great.

[–]TotallyKafkaesque 301 points302 points ago

I always wonder, if someone diagnosed himself as a hypochondriac, how could you possibly argue that he is not one? I want to walk into a doctor's office and say, "I think I'm a hypochondriac." When he asks, "what do you think you have?" I'll just say, "hypochondria."

[–]Wbran 137 points138 points ago

I think the universe just turned in on itself.

[–]Chexonfire 78 points79 points ago

Dividing by zero shit up in this thread.

[–]yarp_and_narp 3 points4 points ago

Were getting the square root of a negative number up in dis bitch.

[–]RageMorePlz 12 points13 points ago

That's not an actual anomaly if you know complex numbers.

[–]hxcbandbattler 6 points7 points ago

Implosion imminent.

[–]aliveanddead1 15 points16 points ago

I understand there's some kind of paradox thing going but i cant fully crasp it. Could you explain?

[–]JJEE 66 points67 points ago

you're full of grap

[–]theodrixx 25 points26 points ago

Shut up and let me enjoy my crape juice.

[–]ProtoKun7 8 points9 points ago

Oh cod, not this acain.

[–]TotallyKafkaesque 41 points42 points ago

It's just a stupid joke. They actually require a patient to be convinced of two or more conditions to be properly diagnosed with hypochondria. I suspect it is to avoid precisely this circular logic, but I'm a hypochondriac and paranoid, so who knows.

[–]SirSun 8 points9 points ago

Do they actually need to believe they have two conditions though? I was convinced I had cancer, and until I had multiple blood tests, ultra sounds, urine tests, etc, I was depressed with extreme anxiety and insomnia. All because of a back ache and my balls aching one day. I fully admitted to hypochondria the whole time (was that not correct?) but that did absolutely nothing to quell the horrible mental strain I was putting myself through. I still worry about cancer.

[–]pU8O5E439Mruz47w 27 points28 points ago

A hypochondriac is terrified he is sick, when in fact he usually is not. Hypochondria could be considered a mental sickness. Ergo if a hypochondriac is afraid he has hypochondria, he actually does have hypochondria and thus is in fact sick, which means he is not really a hypochondriac so he's not actually sick.

OCD is the current trend

[–]shutupjoey 305 points306 points ago

It's AIDS for me. Fuck all you HIV negative nancies.

[–]Nelis47896 157 points158 points ago

Aren't AIDS and cancer a 4chan thing?

[–]KazakTheSpaceDog 195 points196 points ago

AIDS is still public domain as far as jokes go, cancer belongs to 4chan though.

[–]shutupjoey 62 points63 points ago

And Dolan

[–]Not_Slim_Shady 109 points110 points ago

Dolan got all the way down to call of duty kid ownership in under 2 months, amazing.

[–]obliterationn 47 points48 points ago

to be fair though, dolan was always terrible

Beware: colon cancer donation website below!

Oh wait. That's a good thing.

Don't mind the immuno-typical plebs.

[–]classic__schmosby 0 points1 point ago

Are you sure you didn't get a "check minus" on your test?

[–]shutupjoey 2 points3 points ago

I just got a winky face on mine.

[–]TPKM 43 points44 points ago

You did not put a period at the end of that sentence. Also, you did not put periods between the letters O, C and D. I hate when people do that. I hate when people do that. I hate when people do that.

[–]VeganCommunist 15 points16 points ago

8 out of10.

[–]CaitlinSarah87 3 points4 points ago

You didn't place a comma after the C. I hate when people do that, because it's not grammatically correct.

[–]Lurking_Grue 30 points31 points ago

I do hate the misuse of OCD, I struggled with OCD for years and it is not fun.

It did NOT mean I couldn't handle a crooked painting.

[–]SquareEnix 59 points60 points ago

"I just cleaned my room LOL OCD'ing SO HARD"

[–]jonosvision 44 points45 points ago

It's not as scary as my insomnia, I couldn't get to sleep until 2am last night.

[–]Sinthemoon 30 points31 points ago

I have social [f]obia. What do you think about my gaping anus?

[–]KittensDontFly 4 points5 points ago

10/10 would help to cure social fobia.

[–]Chridsdude 10 points11 points ago

[–]8dash 6 points7 points ago

I told my friend I had OCD and he said my room wasn't even that neat.

[–]BoDiddley42 8 points9 points ago

Yes! Thank you. OCD isn't what people always think - there is a lot more to it than constantly straightening things and washing your hands. People who use it like "OMG I'm soooo OCD" Seriously need to see how it feels for a while, it isn't fun.

[–]Lurking_Grue 3 points4 points ago

I had a lot of counting rituals that were crazy and I knew it but I had to do it.

[–]NarwhalAMA 7 points8 points ago

Could you explain how (legit) OCD affected you?

[–]Lurking_Grue 13 points14 points ago

It came about as coping mechanism due to a panic disorder, it only made things worse.

Much of the anxiety came about around the Tylenol scares so I developed a serious food tampering phobia so I developed rituals about how I could eat food and it could only be food that was already opened. I couldn't open up a package of oreos and just eat one other people had to be involved.

I have to check and re-check things. I would find myself counting cups before I could take a drink. I would always take the 2nd cup down and shake it out first. I would end up repeating it a lot.

I was put on xanax but all that achieved was an addition to xanax.

It took me a better part of a decade to overcome.

[–]Splep 9 points10 points ago

I've found that Bipolar disorder is the most common self diagnosed illness at the moment.

[–]hhtced 5 points6 points ago

I'm have a real BPD diagnosis and think most people are idiots in this matter.

[–]iceaje 27 points28 points ago

I have a friend who diagnosed herself with Aspergers. She didn't have any of the "symptoms" until she self diagnosed herself.

Now, no one can make a loud noise without her going into a dramatic fit of her closing her eardrums and forcing herself to cry. Blames it on her "Aspergers."

[–]input_cords 69 points70 points ago

Actually, I'm a doctor myself and can diagnose that's actually a case of Attention Whore, not Aspergers.

[–]iceaje 10 points11 points ago

Exactly. she blames it on everything. Including her only having 2 friends. Makes me sorta mad considering she sorta makes a joke out of all the people who actually have Aspergers.

[–]thenshesays 11 points12 points ago

Why do you continue to be friends with her if you don't like her/she annoys you so much?

[–]ceruleanfire 12 points13 points ago

Haha I don't even think that is a symptom of Asperger's! People with Aspergers have difficulty understanding social cues but I'm pretty sure that does not make them retarded and crazy.

[–]gameguy285 3 points4 points ago

i have Aspergers and loud noises do make me uncomfortable, but its just like a chalkboard being scratched. its highly irritating and kind of makes me shut down and not able to focus on things, but i wouldn't get emotional about it.

[–]theRainChicken 7 points8 points ago

I don't have Aspergers and unexpected loud noises bother me too. It's probably jus a human thing.

[–]gameguy285 3 points4 points ago

yes and no. you can be irritated by sounds and not have Aspergers, but people with Aspergers tend to be more sensitive to sounds. also its not just about being irritated. when i hear a loud noise i have the urge to shut everything out and go to my "happy place". luckily i've learned to manage it enough to where it doesn't really affect me that much anymore

[–]n3uromanc3r 19 points20 points ago

I never noticed this thing with Aspergers until recently. It seems like there's a whole community of people with Aspergers or at least some symptoms thereof who wear it as a badge of honor--I've seen some people who try to go so far as suggesting that it's the next stage in human evolution. Because clearly, the next stage in human evolution will be something that makes it harder for you to understand and interact with other human beings.

If I may make an analogy, it's like one strain of weed believing that because it contains more THC than another, it must somehow be the next step in the evolution of marijuana even though, in the wild, those same strains would go extinct because of their inability to survive in anything other than highly specific environments.

Maybe this belongs in /r/trees

[–]helium_farts 6 points7 points ago

It seems like there's a whole community of people with Aspergers or at least some symptoms thereof who wear it as a badge of honor--I've seen some people who try to go so far as suggesting that it's the next stage in human evolution.

This is why I no longer spend time on online AS forums. The level of arrogance and elitism was insufferable.

[–]Squoghunter1492 15 points16 points ago

And those of us who actually have Asperger's and ADHD will sit here scratching our heads saying, "what the fuck is wrong with you people"? Or at least I will.

[–]shutupjoey 9 points10 points ago

Mmmm ass burgers.

[–]PlatonicTroglodyte 5 points6 points ago

It's worth noting that the original doesn't include reddit at all. Granted, it's a tad bit dated. I got my shirt about two years ago.

[–]Smrti 13 points14 points ago

What, Adderall wasnt reason enough for you people? Sheesh, high standards.

[–]tigers2004 12 points13 points ago

When they really need to self-diagnose themselves with narcissism.

[–]sthree 4 points5 points ago

the fact that I don't ever go to 4chan makes me a narcissist

that's one of the weirdest Venn diagram conclusion ever ;)

[–]borediswhyimhere 3 points4 points ago

Or that I don't use twitter but I still know what you have had for lunch for the past three weeks doesn't make me a stalker.

[–]Tylzen 3 points4 points ago

I welcome them to /r/adhd the chatroom has been a bit empty lately

[–]eskick 6 points7 points ago

I thought i had ADHD for the past 5 years, turns out thats how long i'v been using Reddit :\

[–]OrangeCrust 2 points3 points ago

Self diagnose themselves? Hm

[–]borediswhyimhere 2 points3 points ago

Yeah yeah. I know. I'm just surprised it took someone this long to call me on it.

[–]qasman 2 points3 points ago

My university has been giving out free dyslexia tests for students. If you pass, you get extra time in the exam, amongst other stuff.

Suddenly, half of my year group is dyslexic!

[–]whitewateractual 1 point2 points ago

Yes. No. Fuck.

[–]SCUMDOG_MILLIONAIRE 1 point2 points ago

DAE ADHD?

[–]MrDoe 10 points11 points ago

As a person that actually has a few of the regular self-diagnosed mental problems, I die a little on the inside each time I see shitty self-diagnoses.

"I like playing games all the time, but I still love being with people. But, because I spend a considerable amount of time at the computer, I must have aspergers." No, that's not aspergers, that's being a fucking idiot. I have autism-spectrum disorder, I can't fucking handle being around people for too long. I'll seriously have a mental breakdown if I'm forced to be social for too long. Come at me, self-diagnosed cunts.

[–]ipatrician 12 points13 points ago

You come at me once aspergers is no longer a recognized disorder in a few years.

[–]for_clarity 11 points12 points ago

Autism-spectrum disorder

[–]ceruleanfire 2 points3 points ago

I know what you mean. I don't understand why so many people are eager to have asperger's or ADHD or consider it a point to be shown off but it ticks me off to no end!

[–]MrDoe 6 points7 points ago

I think a lot of people think that having aspergers means you're justified in being socially awkward. And, if they think they're justified in being like that, they can whine about it while not doing anything about it.

[–]Oaden 2 points3 points ago

I have people i meet diagnose me with ADHD because I'm a bit over active. Everyone that doesn't like sitting still is suddenly ADHD.

[–]borediswhyimhere 3 points4 points ago

Or restless leg syndrome.

[–]belkarbitterleaf 2 points3 points ago

Well, I actually do have ADHD, and was professionally diagnosed for it

[–]borediswhyimhere 8 points9 points ago

As long as you were diagnosed by a professional that has some degree in medicine then I have no quarrel with you. May I also add that I hope you are able to deal with it. I have seen what it can do when it's either not diagosed properly or at all. It does not look like fun.

[–]EccentricOddity 3 points4 points ago

Oh, God, when people use self-diagnosed ADHD as a reason they aren't doing well in school... Nah, man, maybe it's all those parties and "DGAF-ing." Professionally diagnosed a few years ago with both ADHD AND mild Asperger's... I hate it. It seems to me unless you wish you DIDN'T have it, you don't really have it.

[–]BangularMomentum 78 points79 points ago

There are many tumblr's that sit high on the throne of narcissism

[–]WhiteCotton 22 points23 points ago

plottwist: the narcissism circle as a whole is tumblr

[–]haydo888 235 points236 points ago

They should all be in the center...

[–]Rhynocerous 77 points78 points ago

I want to know how someone stalks someone else over an anonymous message board like 4chan.

EDIT: Relax guys, I meant stalking of the users, not of non-users.

[–]boveah 119 points120 points ago

You really have never been on there have you?

[–]Kritical02 46 points47 points ago

doxing is pretty rampant on 4chan.

[–]QinItUp69 13 points14 points ago

What is doxing?

[–]stoy4nov 39 points40 points ago

Documenting/getting real-life details on some poster or a subject of a photo, etc.

[–]Somemnisawn 30 points31 points ago

Finding out someone's real identity and using that information to harass them ie: calling their place of work to get them fired, a la /r/ShitRedditSays.

[–]phoenixrawr 4 points5 points ago

Gathering information about someone using the internet. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=doxing

[–]YHWH_The_Lord 4 points5 points ago

Someone posts something too personal, 4chan will do them the service of finding out their home address, phone number, etc and as much other information as they can (sometimes including social security number etc) and posting it publicly. This is called doxing, your dox = all of the information on you that is available through the internet.

[–]Trachyon 32 points33 points ago

Those dedicated few on 4chan are about as good at finding people with little evidence as Sherlock Holmes. Exif data from photos, licence plates in the background, using google maps to find a certain shop next to a certain other shop in the area, finding you or your friends on Facebook, an email address you might use which is linked to any other websites/accounts, time of day a timestamped photo is posted can tell you the timezone a person lives in, etc...

[–]Tubutas 12 points13 points ago

In 30 minutes or less, or order your money back.

[–]Number1LurkingCatNA 6 points7 points ago

Wouldn't you like to know? :3

[–]albequirky 5 points6 points ago

Backtracing.

[–]Troy_And_Abed_In_The 2 points3 points ago

Only the Cyberpolice can do that.

[–]cycostinkoman 204 points205 points ago

If you zoom out you'll see this entire diagram inside another circle labeled "faggots."

[–]metalninjacake2 83 points84 points ago

And on the outlying edges of the "faggots" diagram is one lone dot labeled "OP".

[–]NickPow43 3 points4 points ago

no OP is just next to the diagram shown above

[–]belkarbitterleaf 10 points11 points ago

of which you are also a member.

edit: removed an of... thanks AMost

[–]AMostOriginalUserNam 14 points15 points ago

Oooh, too many 'of's.

[–]pseudolobster 183 points184 points ago

No stalking on reddit? Someone ought to tell Adrian Chen.

[–]WildeNietzsche 118 points119 points ago

And no narcissism on 4chan? They think everything even remotely funny on the internet was created there.

[–]assumes 184 points185 points ago

4chan's anonymity makes it the natural choice to avoid narcism. Regardless of whether its users think 4chan is the source of all things funny, they are preoccupied with 4chan, not themselves. Facebook and Reddit on the other hand, are obsessed with likes and upvotes. Twitter's preoccupation with self is quite obvious.

[–]Stuhlgewitter 30 points31 points ago

Then again you're never quite sure who "they" is. Unless they're tripfags.

[–]Xonitt 22 points23 points ago

because everything even remotely funny on the internet was created there

[–]AfroKona 15 points16 points ago

Because most of them were.

[–]Nefeera 6 points7 points ago

They do?

I thought only redditors thought that.

[–]R3divid3r 10 points11 points ago

You do know you're bashing reddit on reddit right? Hah, I sometime do it too. reddit just can't admit to itself some harsh truths. Or they can't take a joke. Meh.

[–]heardlb 8 points9 points ago

I think the twitter overlap covers stalking and reddit.

[–]AdvocateForLucifer 1 point2 points ago

And no narcissism on 4chan?

[–]NarwhalAMA 4 points5 points ago

DAE HATE GAWKER??

[–]moolcool 2 points3 points ago

If Adrian Chen is a stalker for outing Violentacerz, then Chris Hansen is also a stalker. Why does everybody leap to defend VA?

[–]Phoequinox 42 points43 points ago

Reddit is a bunch of pompous juveniles?

. . .Why did I even need to ask that?

[–]Desinis 42 points43 points ago

To reassure your sense of self-worth.

[–]Phoequinox 5 points6 points ago

Well I fucking suck at that.

[–]albequirky 8 points9 points ago

Probably because of your narcissism and ADHD.

[–]nbaballer8227 31 points32 points ago

Reddit has its fair share of narcissism. Just head over to /r/atheism, or check out posts in /r/askreddit giving themselves a pat on the back hidden in the form of a question.

[–]Renmauzuo 164 points165 points ago

"Hey Reddit, when was the last time you did something totally awesome because you're super cool? I'll start . . ."

[–]Time4fun22 76 points77 points ago

According to the top post right now, "crapping himself on the way to work."

[–]sleepy55 42 points43 points ago

Hell, there was a post today with a score of 2200 that basically said "My ex of 4 years came back begging me to give her another chance. I'm such a le gem aren't I?"

http://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/13impb/4_years_later_out_of_the_blue_the_ex_finally_came/

[–]thewatchtower 31 points32 points ago

Yeah, but that's why we're in the narcissism bubble. I don't think anybody is denying our collective narcissism.

[–]Oaden 23 points24 points ago

The very purpose of Reddit is circlejerking, you don't need to go to /r/atheism for it.

[–]0hmyscience 9 points10 points ago

Right! We can just start circlejerking right here about how big of a circlejerk r/atheism is.

[–]timeforanothename 6 points7 points ago

Most subs are narcissistic. More subs are filled withe idiots. Life pro tips, on the top has a great exemple.

LPT: Use Alt+printscreen to take a screenshot of the window you're currently on.

So I think it is more like this place is a narcissistic playground for idiots, mostly liberal and stoned idiots.

[–]JoeQuery 5 points6 points ago

I don't see how that is narcissistic...that's very useful to know. I used to just print screen and paste into paint and crop it.

[–]AbsoluteGlosk 56 points57 points ago

I am on all those websites EXCEPT the middle one... Your arithmetic is flawed, sir.

[–]4chan- 43 points44 points ago

Same I just don't see the point of twitter

[–]spamfiltered 48 points49 points ago

Rich and famous people do. Are you rich and famous? Then, no Twitter has no use for you.

I don't see the point of Facebook either, because I have no family or friends.

[–]smokinJoeCalculus 11 points12 points ago

Twitter during fantasy football/baseball season is god damn clutch. Anyone can enjoy it if they go through the effort.

[–]thedrivingcat 12 points13 points ago

I'm a high school teacher and teenagers absolutely love Twitter. All their friends get to know every minut detail about each others lives the whole day.

A few even confessed to spending upwards of 7 hours each day on Twitter.

[–]turkproof 14 points15 points ago

It's like being in a chatroom with your friends all day, especially if you have a smartphone. Of course they're on it seven hours a day. I'm 26 and I easily check it 20-30 times a day.

[–]WhiteCotton 5 points6 points ago

Holy shit. I never thought of twitter as a chatroom with your friends, and that is kind of what it is. You blew my mind, turkproof.

[–]BlueNWhite1 8 points9 points ago

Twitter has a use if you want instant access to news around the world. Even in sports, it helps in aggregating reports, rumours, signings, availability etc. Politically, I think Twitter has been quite powerful in mobilizing people, as seen in Arab Spring. There are a number of teens and celebrity following, but your tool is only as good as how you design it. I personally do not follow celebrities. I like instant access to news on my phone.

[–]Kirsham 8 points9 points ago

Information. I follow different game studios, bands I like, web comic authors and the like. I never ever tweet myself, to me Twitter is a personalized news feed.

[–]Number1LurkingCatNA 11 points12 points ago

From what I can tell, it's supposed to be a less comprehensive means of updates, more or less - as opposed to Facebook. Take out all the games, relationship statuses, and shit like that. Then just have the wall.

"Friending" someone doesn't have to be mutual, although the general understanding is that often (some) people you don't know will be reading what you write there. "Follower" and "following" is a much weaker relationship than "friend", so that feeling of "hey there's one thousand friends on my facebook account and I only talk to like three of them" doesn't really exist. I know not everyone has that problem, but some people do.

And lastly, it can be a customizable news feed of sorts. Following important people (specifically) or entire companies for updates on stuff.

tl;dr gut Facebook, throw in some Reddit. Bam. Twitter.

[–]Col_Smirnoff 10 points11 points ago

And porn is all of the white I'm assuming?

[–]ElijahLlinas 8 points9 points ago

Narcissism: Tumblr; Stalking: OkCupid; ADHD: Youtube

[–]Cmdr-Keen 18 points19 points ago

Seems the creator of this triple venn diagram hasn't discovered r/gonewild yet.

[–]biomatter 7 points8 points ago

I don't understand how mentioning /r/GoneWild refutes the diagram. If anything, it just serves to validate it! Care to explain Mr. Keen?

[–]theesotericrutabaga 6 points7 points ago

Because stalking. Take a look at the comments there.

[–]Ghooble 9 points10 points ago

Lots of compliments=Stalking. Gotcha.

[–]Sicaliptico 4 points5 points ago

on twitter you literally "follow" people. I don't know how much more stalkerish you can get.

[–]OriginalJee 0 points1 point ago

That looks about right.

[–]Hubertoi 0 points1 point ago

I would have put 4chan in the middle, but whatever.

[–]ceruleanfire 2 points3 points ago

So true. Social networking appeals to the worst in us.

Addiction to social networking is giving in to the worst.

[–]BuzzScumcock 2 points3 points ago

Switch 4chan and Twitter. The internet flows from and into 4chan.

[–]ienjoyedit 0 points1 point ago

Maybe 4chan and Twitter should be switched. 4chan NOT narcissistic? HAH!

[–]titfaceassfuck 1 point2 points ago

Downvoted for being a "I Googled this now upvote me" post.

[–]myusernameranoutofsp 2 points3 points ago

ADHD should be replaced with loneliness.

[–]thatguysammo 8 points9 points ago

I think they have 4chan and Reddit in the wrong places

[–]mrsticknote 18 points19 points ago

Are you sure about that? I honestly cannot think of a better word than narcissism to describe Reddit.

[–]MetalMan77 6 points7 points ago

I love pie charts! Venn did you come up with this?

[–]SirHephaestus 2 points3 points ago

Other than this being completely wrong, cool post OP.

[–]RapturesAura 0 points1 point ago

Speaking of Google, notice how Google+ isn't on there

[–]GreenTomatoSauce -1 points0 points ago

How do you even stalk an anonymous?

[–]misanthr0p1c 1 point2 points ago

Pretty sure all of them should be included under stalking.

[–]LordOZzer 1 point2 points ago

according to this i have to make a twitteraccount

[–]exfoliatingdonkey 1 point2 points ago

Twitter is the center of the internet!

[–]Boux 1 point2 points ago

Very inaccurate

[–]ZestyOne 0 points1 point ago

this is really stupid, twitter is hardly in the middle of that.

[–]RapeSosage -1 points0 points ago

it's actually relieving to know that tumblr nor 9fag aren't actually part of the internet

[–]Mitchel1497 3 points4 points ago

tumblr has never wronged me nor have I ever wronged tumblr therefore there is no need for discrimination of the tumblr fags

[–]Quist11 0 points1 point ago

Dont forget a le bravery section solely for reddit!

[–]Zorkamork 1 point2 points ago

Why isn't Reddit in "Stalking" too? We had a huge thing over the free speech to steal people's photos and take secret pictures of women to beat off to.

[–]EvisGamer 1 point2 points ago

I think you can justify swapping the titles of any of those Venn intersections.

[–]Bt5oo 1 point2 points ago

I would just like to clarify that Twitter is certainly not the center of the internet.

[–]WilliamKings 0 points1 point ago

There should be 70% of porn in that graph!

[–]stop_poking_me 1 point2 points ago

you're missing the bigger circle around all of them that's "google"

but i will say i have avoided the 4chan/twitter parts so far.

[–]19115162093 0 points1 point ago

Twitter/YouTube

[–]TheWayoftheFuture 0 points1 point ago

Is there a way to get off this chart?

[–]Grumpyland 0 points1 point ago

My father has that shirt

[–]sjmiv 0 points1 point ago

what does ADHD have to do with...OH LOOK SOMETHING SHINY!

[–]seledorn 0 points1 point ago

Well that makes me really narcissistic... in a good way?

[–]fa_cube_itch -1 points0 points ago

Seems pretty spot on to me.

[–]assumes 1 point2 points ago

Critics aside, this is actually an astoundingly accurate representation of how these sites fit together.

4chan isn't a narcissist because of its anonymity. The self means nothing there.

Facebook don't have adhd because most people don't use it to mindlessly surf memes and random facts. The fact that you might, says more about your internet usage than facebook's purposes.

Reddit doesn't stalk because we're pussies. Oh, and we're so much smarter and sophisticated, and all that shit.

[–]socialanxietyyy 1 point2 points ago

The porn, where is it? ಠ_ಠ
