Someone should dress as a sith and preach on the power of the darkside.

[–]theonefree-man 113 points114 points ago

Only siths accept everyone, regardless of race or affiliation!

[–][deleted] 29 points30 points ago

Ya ... but there can be only two ... so ... not sure if that works as a popular movement.

[–]Vientam 31 points32 points ago

While this would be true in the Complete Saga, the expanded universe has had more than two Siths at a time.

It was what eventually drove them to extinction, sure, but there have been more than two.

[–]Blizzaldo 26 points27 points ago

Siths are like Pandas. They're just gonna go extinct if you leave them alone.

[–]JackalKing 17 points18 points ago

This is partially why the rule of two was created by Darth Bane. Constant in-fighting kept the sith weak and unable to deal with any real threats.

[–]Vientam 20 points21 points ago

Mhm... Darth Batman...

[–]JackalKing 68 points69 points ago

[–]ToastyRaichu 7 points8 points ago

dude, that costume is sick!

[–]grenadesonfire 1 point2 points ago

Also the rule of two allowed for the sith to be culled. Only the Strongest survived.

[–]Magna_Sharta 10 points11 points ago

Until the prophet Darth Bane showed us the truth of the holy scripture of the Dark side.

[–]Vientam -4 points-3 points ago

... Until whoever wrote that novel did.

[–]skd89 10 points11 points ago

The prophet Darth Bane did.

[–]SerpinskiQuadrangle 5 points6 points ago

You can't disprove that

[–]briangiles 5 points6 points ago

There were thousands but Bane learned thought that their ways were hypocritical of the true Sith teachings, he played along with them and was about to teach them about the though bomb and showed the leader of the Sith and it destroyed all of the Sith buy Bane, he became the last sith and took on a young girl as his apprentice and created the Rule of Two.

Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me.

[–]home_star_tokerr 1 point2 points ago

I didn't understand a word of this.

[–]briangiles 2 points3 points ago

Darth Bane. The first dark lord to create the Rule of two. He fought in the sith wars and was chosen to join the ranks of the sith. He killed all of the sith via a powerful sith spell known as the thought* bomb. He then took a young jedi as his apprentice and they hid across the universe plotting for the day the sith would rise up and destroy the Jedi. This takes thousands of years until Darth Sidious (see Episode three) completes Darth Banes work. After Disney makes 7, 8, 9 I think making the Bane Series would be awesome.

Edit a word.

[–]ProfThadBach 1 point2 points ago

Though bomb?

[–]briangiles 1 point2 points ago

Fixed it you grammar nazis, sorry was sent from my phone.

:p

[–]SanityInAnarchy 0 points1 point ago

And by "expanded universe", we're also including things like KOTOR and Jedi Outcast.

[–]Belexar 4 points5 points ago

It's not by choice. Well, sometimes it is, but Sith had large numbers at the pinnnacle of their power, and not all of them were force users. The Dark Side needs minions too.

[–]amanoftomorrow 0 points1 point ago

Eerr what? the old republic? those sith motherfuckers were everywhere.

[–]Rugbypup 7 points8 points ago

Only a Sith deals in absolutes!

[–]Riffy 8 points9 points ago

The contradictory thing about that statement, is that it is an absolute... Hilariously funny.

[–]LazLoe 0 points1 point ago

I wonder if that was the point.

The Jedi seem to have become blinded in their rightousness. It also shows in the prophecy that the 'chosen one' would bring balance to the Force.

Well, he sure did. Just not how the overconfident and rightous Jedi had in mind and I believe Yoda realized this when he stated it may have been misinterpreted.

[–]microsoftcoreporn 3 points4 points ago

Hmmm...pretty sure that Jedi are all for racial diversity. And, if you believed something (for instance, the dark side) to be detrimental in the long term to not only him who believed it but also to the universe, wouldn't you prefer people not to accept that as a way of life? Just saying. The idea that someone from the Dark Side could be accepted and turned is not completely without precedent - see Return of the Jedi.

Unless I was missing something, I thought that Jedi were always presented as defenders of individual liberty.

If you're talking about having or not having midichlorians, that's kind of a different question. Jedi partnered with all sorts of non-Jedi. But, you simply can't be a Jedi without some physiological predisposition, right? It's probably not a perfect analogy.

[–]OP_DELIVERS 19 points20 points ago

"Sure, the Jedi can become projections when they die...but the Sith get to fry folks with lightning RIGHT NOW!"

[–]empire_strikes_back 5 points6 points ago

Go lightside right before you die, get force lightning now and astral projection later. Just don't get your head chopped off with a lightsaber.

[–]JakeThePlummer 2 points3 points ago

Did you murder millions of people, including attempted murder of your wife and mother of your children? Eh, that's fine. Just save your son's life (a natural instinct) which cancels all that out and you can still go to Jedi heaven.

[–]Windows_97 7 points8 points ago

Reason #1: red light sabers

Reason #2: lightning fingers

Reason #3: coolest looking spaceships

Reason #4: red light sabers

[–]beerob81 4 points5 points ago

You had me at red light saber

[–]FrankManic 7 points8 points ago

The College Republicans already have a table across the quad.

[–]bitbee 2 points3 points ago

And then a saber fight ensues.

[–]Vinoda 0 points1 point ago

We will be in eternal conflict then....

[–]Griz_zy 111 points112 points ago

I would become a jedi way before I would become a christian.

[–]marrow-of-life 40 points41 points ago

I think a Christian would say same thing if pressed.

[–]SublimeSloth 31 points32 points ago

I am a Christian and would totally much rather be a Jedi.

[–]misterfanwank 18 points19 points ago

The Jedi afterlife has done more to be verified than the Christian afterlife.

[–]thatkindofhighguy 11 points12 points ago

Who gives a shit, the man said lightsabers!

[–]marrow-of-life 0 points1 point ago

Lets be honest... how many men would trade their dick for a lightsaber? Serious question.

[–]dkkc19 1 point2 points ago

The majority of the die hard Star Wars fan don't have no use for their dicks, so it's no brainer.

[–]GuolinM 1 point2 points ago

It's a lot harder to masturbate with a lightsaber.

[–]Attifire 1 point2 points ago

I think you mean it's a lot harder to masturbate a lightsaber.

[–]Corrinth 0 points1 point ago

Also without a penis.

Unless you get a complimentary vagina when you trade in your dick for that lightsaber, in which case you might find another use for that lightsaber.

[–]GuolinM 0 points1 point ago

That's gotta hurt though.

[–]Timmytanks40 3 points4 points ago

Two books written in a cave a few thousand years ago or... 6 movies, 1 holiday special, and a tv series on blue-ray?! No contest!

[–]lackingsaint 12 points13 points ago

I imagine that's the case for most people on this subreddit.

[–]LibraryNerdOne 4 points5 points ago

May the Force be with you.

[–]Lionflower13 1 point2 points ago

And also with your spirit ...

[–]Vinoda 0 points1 point ago

technically thats you... so...

[–]VoirDireKitten 2 points3 points ago

there should be a subreddit for that.

[–]Itbelongsinamuseum 2 points3 points ago

[–]kylco 1 point2 points ago

That was quick.

[–]SerpinskiQuadrangle 0 points1 point ago

I would become a Jedi way before I would become anything else in the world ... if I could

[–]koavf -1 points0 points ago

Why?

[–]Griz_zy 4 points5 points ago

If we are going to make shit up, we might aswell make them awesome.

  • Awesome powers
  • Everyone gets to go to heaven (be one with the force)
  • No death penalty

[–]DonkeyDongRacing 2 points3 points ago

How's your midichlorian count?

We have to preserve the bloodline, we have to keep our superior jedi blood pure!

[–]ciil 24 points25 points ago

"Come forth, younglings, for I will tell you about the great power of the force. The force is what gives a Jedi his power. The force is an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us, it penetrates us, it binds the galaxy together."

See no difference yet ...

"Also, you get lightsabers!"

I'm so in.

[–]DayZippo 2 points3 points ago

No no, the force is a microbe.

[–]ciil 2 points3 points ago

*The means for living beings to communicate with the energy field is a microscopic lifeform.

[–]Ubernook 17 points18 points ago

Jontron?

[–]snivescalibur98 4 points5 points ago

So I'm not the only one who thought that!

[–]Anthonyup 2 points3 points ago

pauseballs?

[–]HexedCodes 1 point2 points ago

Going up stairs?

[–]InLoveWithKueppers 31 points32 points ago

Anybody got video footage of this guy ? I'd love to see how the christians reacted.

[–]FusedBlackBlade 6 points7 points ago

Wow, it's been awhile since that got me.

[–]r1b4z01d 0 points1 point ago

twice this month for me :\

[–]classicman -1 points0 points ago

You sir, are awesome.

[–]theescapeartistco 12 points13 points ago

As a dude that lives in orlando (ucf) area, I hope to see this guy downtown doing it to the group with the megaphone.

[–]IS_JOKE_COMRADE 15 points16 points ago

I live in georgia. When I filled out my application to become a Navy Officer, I asked to put "Jedi" in the religion section. Nonetheless, the person helping me was not very impressed with my great sense of humor.

The reason is, I can actually do this, and they would print it on my dog tag, if I am accepted

[–]klakuv 5 points6 points ago

Just imagine how confused your children would be if they found those.

[–]Ixidane 28 points29 points ago

Just tell them it was from when you fought in the clone wars.

[–]Lionflower13 2 points3 points ago

Things have changed. It took me a month to get them to put Wicca on my dog tags, and I wasn't joking.

[–]hoss1138 0 points1 point ago

After Army basic training I went to a surplus store off post and had my own made, with Jedi in the religion field. Looked way cooler than "No-Rel-Pref" which is the best I could get from Ft. Knox.

[–]noleknight16 44 points45 points ago

UCF!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHH I MISS THAT PLACE SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!

[–]morskie29 24 points25 points ago

Same here, go (Jedi) Knights!

[–]mikesicle 18 points19 points ago

Petition now being organized to change university mascot to Jedi Knight.

[–]Foresight42 15 points16 points ago

With Disney now owning the rights, and some of the connections UCF has to Disney, perhaps something could be arranged. As an alum, I would buy ALL the overpriced school related products. License plate, key chains, shirts, ties, hats, EVERYTHING!!!!!

[–]mikesicle 0 points1 point ago

I would tattoo myself across the back with the new mascot.

[–]dndplosion913 7 points8 points ago

Noleknight? Are you some kind of Tallahassee traitor? HUH?

[–]noleknight16 0 points1 point ago

UCF for undergrad

FSU for law school.

Wish UCF had a law school :/ but I do like FSU football a lot so thats a plus

[–]hausofshaney 0 points1 point ago

Does anyone know where this happens on campus? I'd totally go to see him.

[–]crabbiekins 8 points9 points ago

If there's anything I hate it's a pushy Jedi.

[–]kittyrobot 8 points9 points ago

UCF REPRESENT!

[–]mikesicle 7 points8 points ago

Gotta love Florida! Go KNIGHTS!

[–]Bacon_is_not_france 4 points5 points ago

Sweet baby Jesus, I know him!

[–]marma182 5 points6 points ago

To be honest, I've definitely learned most of what I know about morality and ethics from fictional stories like Star Wars and Harry Potter.

The big difference I think, between myself and most christians, is that I understand these stories are in fact fictional.

[–]misrepresentedentity 2 points3 points ago

And have probably seen the plot develop much the same way. http://www.manolith.com/2009/12/04/the-bible-vs-star-wars/

[–]AtheistBot 9 points10 points ago

Fun fact: the "light side" of the force is never once mentioned in the movies.

It is solely a creation of the expanded universe. Likely because of a simple assumption that the dark side must have a diametric opposite. The force of the movies was not a spectrum with dark and light, it was just a mass of "The Force" with a tumor growing off it known as the dark side.

[–]begui 15 points16 points ago

i love ucf

[–]monopixel 3 points4 points ago

Is that a kilt?

[–]Amosral 1 point2 points ago

Neckbeard Jesus.

[–]Arcaness 3 points4 points ago

Jedi is a religion in Australia with over 70,000 people.

[–]nod23 3 points4 points ago

Only 70,000? The UK had 390,000 back in 2001 ;)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/2757067.stm

[–]kylco 1 point2 points ago

It makes me happy to remember that this is A Thing.

[–]nod23 1 point2 points ago

Hehe, well then this page should be interesting:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jedi_census_phenomenon

[–]kylco 0 points1 point ago

I know! That's when I first heard about it. I mean, I understand why people are sometimes upset about it (including atheists who are upset), but I think it's also a great testament to the power of science fiction/fantasy in society, which is a pet issue of mine.

[–]nod23 0 points1 point ago

Hehe, it's all part of our culture whether it's classified/labeled as "sci-fi" or not :)

[–]Arcaness 0 points1 point ago

There's really a religion called Jedi. :3 It's not that kind though.

[–]fiskebollen 3 points4 points ago

Is he wearing a kilt?

[–]Right_brain_skeptic 2 points3 points ago

He needs to work on his outfit.

[–]Dirtydirtdirt 2 points3 points ago

My little brother goes to UCF. That aint him though.

[–]omnicurious 2 points3 points ago

I was brought up Christian, but Good and Evil were complicated things.

I watched Star Wars as a kid and it really simplified it for me.

Jedi: Good - Selfless, think outward Sith: Evil - Selfish, think inward

“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”

[–]Unrepentant_Asshole 20 points21 points ago

This guy will die a virgin.

[–]Cseal 181 points182 points ago

As is the way of the Jedi.

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]ciil 9 points10 points ago

Didn't ever stop anyone. Just read the Expanded Universe ;).

btw: Whole lot of good did those rules do the Old Jedi Order.

[–]Saseav 8 points9 points ago

I'd like to add that attahment is forbidden, not sex.

[–]Saseav 4 points5 points ago

it's actually dependent on number of Jedi in the galaxy and their species. Ki-Adi-Mundi had four wives for example. mostly because birthrates for males was extremely low, i think off the top of my head it's 1 in 20. edit: they also age a lot faster then their female counterparts according to wookiepedia, female cereans live around the same as Humans.

[–]dogamusprime 4 points5 points ago

Downvoted, for sucking the cock of a dead shitty meme.

EDIT: Grammar.

[–]svenniola 20 points21 points ago

"stop having sex and you will have the power of levitation."

(parts of you anyway.)

[–]flyonawall 5 points6 points ago

I don't know about that, I would have loved to meet a guy like this when I was younger.

(I am assuming he does not literally believe what he preaches, of course, in which case, I would retract my statement).

[–]davidempoleon10[S] 12 points13 points ago

I love your username.

[–]Unrepentant_Asshole 39 points40 points ago

I don't give a fuck what you like.

[–]detroyer 7 points8 points ago

And that doesn't make you feel remorse in any way?

[–]Unrepentant_Asshole 24 points25 points ago

LOL. Fuck no.

Grow up, moron.

[–]detroyer 22 points23 points ago

Looking at some of your other posts, you seem to keep with this theme of assholery, with no regrets. So...at least you're not a hypocrite. Keep it up.

[–]mysterecks 1 point2 points ago

bah if he is truly a Jedi these thing matter not to him

[–]monopixel 0 points1 point ago

Gurus in sects get all the ass. And pussy.

[–]SublimeSloth 0 points1 point ago

wait... ass AND pussy. TIL I'm about to become a guru.

[–]svenniola 1 point2 points ago

i want one of those lightsaber toasters.

[–]pigeonnosepete 0 points1 point ago

I would have loved to have see this. I searched for Jedi Preacher on you tube and nothing really came up. There is definitely an unexploited video niche here!

[–]cheesesauceboss 0 points1 point ago

what is salsa go? i want.

[–]Loves_buttholes 5 points6 points ago

Salsa 2 go. It's the worst most over priced place on campus

[–]JerseyTurnpike 2 points3 points ago

It's not overpriced... they have that deal every weekday afternoon where you get like 2 tacos for $1.50 or something. It's much better than taco bell

[–]Zencron 2 points3 points ago

agreed salsa 2 go may be the best place to eat on campus. that guy is crazy.

[–]Warkid1993 1 point2 points ago

also delicious lemonade and quesadillas

[–]PraxAttacks 1 point2 points ago

I'm going to assume somebody who loves buttholes isn't the most reliable source on how good the tacos are.

[–]Loves_buttholes 0 points1 point ago

I'm speaking from experience. I ordered nachos. I got dry chips from a bag, with tomatoes (not salsa) and shredded ( not melted ) cheddar cheese. For like 5 bucks. This was in 2010, maybe they've gotten better

[–]Bherd25 0 points1 point ago

I call bs. Great tacos. Way better than the place down the street. They have specials and such.

[–]OfficerKE 1 point2 points ago

Jontron, is that you?

[–]SchinTeth 1 point2 points ago

The thing is, the Force is real, Jesus is not. End of discussion

[–]jets112 -1 points0 points ago

Here's a video i shot of a similar incident at Rutgers University

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tvBYbszrm4&feature=g-crec-u

[–]Charleybucket 1 point2 points ago

One could argue that Jesus was a jedi. He used the force to heal people, raise the dead , and walk on water. At the very least, he dressed like a jedi.

[–]JackalKing 4 points5 points ago

Raise the dead? Did you watch the movies at all? Only a sith could do that. Jesus was clearly a Sith Lord who tried to turn everyone away from the light with promises of great things in the afterlife and a powerful ally on their side. Part of being a Jedi is accepting death and becoming one with the Force.

[–]faestock 0 points1 point ago

Good for him, I'd rather join the dark side than appreciate a preachy christian.

[–]sixtythree 1 point2 points ago

wearing tatooine robes. i hate that these are Jedi clothes, why would obi-wan hide wearing his uniform

[–]guitarfreak95 0 points1 point ago

The force probably makes more sense than christianity

[–]axslayer33 0 points1 point ago

Is in australia?

[–]dndplosion913 3 points4 points ago

Nope, Orlando FL.

[–]axslayer33 0 points1 point ago

oh. Australia actually had about 1/3rd of it's people list themselves as jedi in an international census.

[–]Papasmurph1 1 point2 points ago

That guy looks like Jon Jafari from JonTron http://i.imgur.com/jvOcI.jpg

[–]badp4nd4 1 point2 points ago

Blood of Christ or a LightSaber, easy choice.

[–]brentdude123 0 points1 point ago

Was here earlier this year for the Science Olympiad nationals.

[–]Holic1997 0 points1 point ago

He should have had like a little today hand puppet XD

[–]Nailcannon 1 point2 points ago

This is my school. Those preachers are pretty damn annoying. just sitting there with some music on screaming verses next to the reflection pond. I really wish i was there for this guy though.

[–]lukify 0 points1 point ago

Oh man I spent many a day buying lunch at that Salsa To Go. I didn't realize there was a nearby Jedi Enclave.

[–]MungTao 0 points1 point ago

finding him. buying him lunch

[–]fgutz 0 points1 point ago

and a few hundred years later Jedi is an official religion

[–]Bherd25 0 points1 point ago

Thats my school! There are always some preachers doing preachyness right between salsa2go and the library. Its amusement for me

[–]ErlendJ 0 points1 point ago

Australia?

[–]dorit0paws 1 point2 points ago

Go Knights!

[–]SublimeSloth 0 points1 point ago

lmao I saw the salsa2go and immediately knew where this was taking place and what overly religious man with a Jesus staff you were talking about. He is ALWAYS preaching at the Free Speech zone next to that place. Source: I go to UCF

[–]danimalforlife 0 points1 point ago

Just what we need—another religious fanatic on campus spouting his beliefs at us.

[–]Top_Gun_Redditor 0 points1 point ago

The Messiah at last!

[–]anagrammaton 0 points1 point ago

They have salsa to go now? The future is here!

[–]Circus2 0 points1 point ago

UCF? Sweet, I'm applying there for the next fall semester!

[–]SteveFrenchh 1 point2 points ago

I go to UCF and im staring at Salsa 2 go as we speak and its really tripping me out....

[–]PeachesFace 0 points1 point ago

epic. thank you sir. great way to deal with those people.

[–]aznbear94 0 points1 point ago

of course this happened in florida

[–]koavf 0 points1 point ago

How is this about atheism?

[–]MasterPsyduck 0 points1 point ago

Aw man now I crave salsa to go but it's not open today, also a lot of real crazy preachers stand around there and yell things like, tacos are satans way of saying you're a slut! Mmh who knew being a slut is so delicious

[–]iSometimesPost 0 points1 point ago

Yeah...I think that is my uncle.

[–]XmusJaxonFlaxonWaxon 0 points1 point ago

I feel so special now, seeing my school on Reddit.

[–]thenoblegaunt 0 points1 point ago

He kinda looks like JonTron

[–]tombah -1 points0 points ago

Why is this in r/atheism? I mean, I get it. It's making fun of Christians but it has nothing remotely to do with being an Atheist.

This is why r/atheism sucks nowadays.

[–]wrinewind 0 points1 point ago

I'm astonished at how often my alma mater makes it's way to Reddit. Almost proud enough to give into to their plea for alumni donations...

[–]Roobomatic 0 points1 point ago

UCF represent! I was arguing with christian preachers there from 1997-2000

glad to see the tradition stands.

[–]Timmytanks40 -1 points0 points ago

I would leave atheism for the Jedi religion. Sadly I know i would return to atheism after viewing the next series of star wars films. F U Disney!

[–]alittler 2 points3 points ago

F U Disney? Because Lucas kept the SW series so well, right?

[–]Timmytanks40 0 points1 point ago

hehehe umm this might start a race war but i liked the the second trilogy...NOT THE FACE

[–]HahGHEEEEY 0 points1 point ago

UCF alumni right here! Making me proud, young Jedi. I might just tear up.

[–]alittler 1 point2 points ago

Jedi have light sabers, Christians do not, checkmate.

[–]envengr18 0 points1 point ago

UCF alumni here!

[–]Mix3lpli3x -1 points0 points ago

No different than someone saying there's no God, why ya gotta bag on the Jedi's? You all think your like the Sith huh?... ultimate bad guys your are not, the darkside you posses not...Yoda would be so disappointed!

[–]Juhhjuhhjason 0 points1 point ago

What a boss!

[–]hateful_bigot -2 points-1 points ago

have the christians held him down and tried to exorcise the demons in him in jesus name yet ?

[–]djJACKPOT 1 point2 points ago

The virginity is strong in this one

[–]The_Ashcoat -1 points0 points ago

But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things. Daniel 11:38

[–]BenJEriksen 0 points1 point ago

I actually think that The Force makes more sense than an all-powerful god who hates gays and such. Jedi are so much more awesome than Christians. George Lucas > Jesus.

[–]Exodus111 -2 points-1 points ago

Thats funny since the Jedi powers and philosophy is based on Jewish Qaballa, the Force is symbolic for God, and Jedi is derived from Jew.

[–]Frak98 4 points5 points ago

Pretty sure it's more Taoist.

[–]nod23 -1 points0 points ago

Source?

[–]somedudeonthescreen 2 points3 points ago

Yeah, I could have sworn I read that Lucas based on it Taoism and other Eastern schools of spirituality. Although I don't have a source either so I could be talking out my ass.

[–]nod23 0 points1 point ago

No problem, I just wanted to know more :)
