Personally, my favorite Plains in all of Magic

They need to do an expansion pack with photography instead of with paintings one time. Could get some incredible card art that way.

Beautiful landscapes for the lands. Pictures of explosions or fires for red spells. Magnified pictures of neural synapses firing for cards that make you draw. Buddhist sand mandalas, stained glass, aurora borealis, other natural and man made phenomena for enchantments. Actors in costumes, animal pictures, sfx monsters, photoshops, etc for creatures. It could be a real opportunity to do something incredibly great, creative and new.

A lot of other TCGs have done that and it just doesn't evoke the same feeling. Take Star Wars TCG for example, all of their card art was photography or movie stills and it was fairly bland.

Within the Magic universe however, the painted illustrations of cards gives this unique effect to every card. I find that it makes each card more unique and attractive making the player pay more attention to it.

The whole experience feels more persobalized when you have to digest a painting instead of a movie still or picture.

Although I agree with your desire for variety, there is something about a painting that gives card art an extra evocative feeling. Plus, with different artists come vastly different styles, although I suppose you could say the same for photography to an extent.

Just my opinion, though.

This is freaking gorgeous, I want to see this painted as actual card art.

Rock-bottom posting. There are plenty of subreddits for posting random pictures. This is not one of them.

It really pisses me off that you're getting downvoted. It's like nobody in this sub gives half a fuck what the actual post is about, as long as there's some vague association to something Magic-related. These "___card in real life" posts and "Look at these mana symbol baked goods" posts are no better than memes and should be just as bannable.

I completely agree, this only relates to magic by stretching the definition of what relates to magic so much, that any post relates to magic. "BAND OF BROTHERS IS WHAT I THINK OF WHEN I PLAY HUMAN DECKS, DOES ANYONE ELSE THINK OF POPULAR THINGS WHEN DOING STUFF?".

The "card in real life" posts are interesting once in a while, when the image isn't something as generic as this. It's like I could take a picture of a tree and say "oh em gee a forest card IRL"

As for people hating on the cupcake posts, I think that is unwarranted. It's an expression of love for the game we all play, and it's delicious too.

Finally, what you refer to as a meme is actually an image macro. That's what the images that come from quickmeme, meme generator, etc are. A meme on the other hand is simply an idea or concept that spreads within a community. To use a relevant example, the whole Storm Crow thing is a meme.
