This is a technique called "felting". They are "stuffed animals". The felting process is done with wool and makes fake critters look very realistic. Source: I make these.

thank fuck for reddit. a friend of mine posted this pic on fb and i was the only one who called it as fake. pissed me off actually because of all the others saying how cute they were. it was obviously as fuck to me they were stuffed. the most obvious being the back talon on the big one is not even gripping the railing.

Biggest give away to these being fake is that full grown birds and baby birds don't look anything like that. Birds grow very fast and are pretty much full size by the time they leave the nest.
